I have been successfully using a corporate exchange account in Outlook 2011. I am unable to create the same account in Outlook 2016 using the exact same account credentials. It shows not connected. Any suggestions?

What version of Exchange are you trying to connect to? Outlook 2016 only supports Exchange 2010 SP2 or later. Outlook 2011 supported Exchange 2007 and earlier releases of 2010 as well.

Does it have statistical add-on tools?
Yes,
and, no.

Excel 2011 doesn't work with MS's Data Analysis Toolpak. MS works with AnalystSoft to provide the free StatPlus:mac LE Add-In (http://www.analystsoft.com/en/products/statplusmacle/)

I haven't tested it with Excel 2016. FWIW, the LE version is very limited in its scope, just like MS's offering for earlier Mac Office suites and Windows and I've bought ($200) the much-more-powerful Pro version. IMO the LE version isn't worth even the time to download and install it.

Import Apple Address Book contacts

You can export contacts from the Apple Address Book as a vCard, and then drag the vCard file into Outlook to import your contacts.

Tip As an alternative to importing contacts from the Apple Address Book, you can turn on Sync Services for your Outlook contacts. Turning on Sync Services syncs your Outlook contacts with the Apple Address Book, MobileMe, and other applications or devices that you set up in Apple iSync.

In the Apple Address Book, select the contacts that you want to export, and then drag the selection to the desktop.

The contacts are saved as a vCard file that contains all the contacts.

In Outlook for Mac, at the bottom of the navigation pane, click Contacts Contacts view button.

Drag the vCard file from the desktop to the Contacts item list.

Note Contact groups in the Apple Address Book are converted to categories in Outlook

I have tried all the above, nothing. This is the new 2016 Office preview I am talking about. When I drag the vCards it does nothing. Icon turns green with a + indicating that it can do this but nothing happens. Maybe a bug?

Respectfully disregard much of denisb1's post. Sync Services were disabled by MS in the SP1 Update issued about the time Lion came out as Apple stopped supporting their iSync sync conduit, and MS went pretty much Exchange only for calendaring and contact management.

The "trick" to adding contacts is to drag-and-drop a contact's .vcf file or a group of contacts .vcf file (that will read something like "Some Guy and 19 others" - but keep these "grouped", read on).

Put your .vcf file where you can get at it, then open Outlook. Click on the .vcf file and drag it to the Category in the Category Pane you want to coordinate your relevant contacts to - and your People Section will populate with those contacts and tag them with the Category you dragged them to (Manager, Friends, Family, etc.). You can then tag them with additional categories or change the categories as you see fit.

Keep in mind that these People (contacts) will remain local only, and won't sync anywhere else, unless you've got an Exchange account to sync them to. Outlook 2011 worked this way as well after SP1 came out.

fix for outlook insisting on 365 subscription

All,

for those who are still struggling with the outlook asking for 365 account - just use the same fix that people have posted for fixing the outlook crashing issue. Same solution basically - just clear cache of old settings

1. Open Terminal
2. Type defaults delete com.microsoft.Outlook, to delete the old preferences
3. killall cfprefsd (to kill the cached prefs)
4. Launch Outlook

Unable to Install Office 2016

I have down loaded 2016 onto my Yosemitie system and all seems fine however when i try to use the Install package it just does nothing.... no other apps start to run ...nothing at all.

I do not have an older version of Office on this system is that important?

thanks

John

Most likely the download failed. You can check by looking in Consol and see if you get a message "broken pipe". Easier is to check the size - it should be 2.17GB. If it is less download it again. It took me 5 or 6 tries to download it fully.

Thank You, i did not realise that there could be a download error if the package icon was displayed correctly, i tried to download it again and on the second attempt it worked fine and is installing as i type this reply.

Thanks Again

John

Now that the download has finally finished for me: the new Word is slow as heck (Excel is significantly faster) and the installation has frelled up (i.e. completely deleted) my painstakingly adapted toolbars in Office 2011.

Hmmmm. I'm not liking the Yosemite only requirement. I don't like Yosemite. :(

Perhaps but people knew this day was coming when apps would require 10.10. I'm not sure why, but they chose to do it this way, so you can either continue to use an OS you like but lose out on the beta, or upgrade so you can run the new version of Office.

Yep, that's a deal-breaker for me.

Given my personal experiences with upgrading (or fresh installing) newer versions of OSX (than the one shipped with the device) I would need to be backed into a corner before updating my OSX devices to Yosemite.

It's a serious decision, because that "free" version of Yosemite can end up costing me approx $4K if I have to replace those devices with newer models. (which are only 1-2 yrs old) Of course I could go and downgrade back to Mavericks.

Not a fan of the iOS-ization of OSX with regard to annual upgrades.

But having said that, the MS Office 2016 for Mac looks terrific. They've done a great job and when it is formally released, will have greatly increased the value of the Office 365 subscription (IMO) for those who can take advantage of the multiple platforms and devices.

outlook 2016 beta delteted e-mails not deleting

not sure if this because its a beta release

I click delete to delete e-mail and the emails stay in my inbox?

Anyone else find this is happening:confused:

I've been using the Beta of Office 2016 for Mac since Thursday & haven't noticed any significant bugs so far. My only question so far is how will be know (or be notified) when there is a software update for the Beta?

You can set it to automatically check for updates.

On a side note, I'm having a crashing issue.

I have 2 x mail accounts (both Exchange).

At the top of the left window pane, it shows Inbox, with each inbox nested underneath.

I can click in each inbox individually (to show the emails for that particular account) without an issue, but when I click on the top level Inbox (to see all emails), Outlook just closes.

Because I have yet to have a good experience upgrading my OSX devices to a newer version of OSX (upgrade or fresh install).
Just one example: One of my 15" MBP's shipped with Lion. I upgraded it to Mountain Lion when it became available... it never performed as well with ML as it did with Lion. Thinking that it couldn't get worse, I upgraded to Mavericks... that killed it.

But those are my first-hand experiences. I'd love to have the trouble-free upgrade experiences that others have had, but for some reason haven't.

Can I respectfully say that I think you may be exaggerating a little when you say that Mavericks killed your 2 year old MBP?

The only part where I think he is exaggerating is the "2 year old" part. But from my experience, Mavericks became almost un-usable with my 2008 MBP, and Yosemite put the last nail on the coffin.

$250 later, my old MBP has been resurrected. I put a 256 GB SSD and 8 GB of RAM in it and it really became a breeze to use it.

Thank you! Random question, do you have inertia scrolling in Word? Also, what about the ribbon, the text in CAPITALS or not?

As far as I can tell inertia scrolling is not there. Maybe in future betas, there will be an option to customize the ribbon and capitalize text. At the moment, all options concerning the ribbon are grayed out even in preferences.
