Everything you have listed above (outside of your Outlook issue) was fixed in the first week or two of release (aka...6 weeks ago). You obviously didn't perform the software and firmware updates issued. If performing an update is "constantly troubleshooting" a device, you'll never be happy with any device.

Right...I downloaded the 35 updates(including firmware) both times so you don't know what you are taking about. All fixed...uh huh. Not sure why you are so defensive about my real life experience. Just sharing what it was like for me.

tell people they dont need that HP laptop and that Samsung tablet. Then you will do better... but they will not take on Apple with the selling point of it is a laptop as people will only ever see OSX vs Windows and theres only 1 winner there.

Correct, there is only 1 winner there. Windows crucified OSX.

I might give it a try if it was $500 or less and came in a 7" a 8" form factor. I have a 10" 8.1 tablet hybrid already and only use it as a laptop. It is good for some stuff but in the end I end up using my iPad mini retina LTE more than anything. Runs smooth works well with my Mac Mini upstairs.

In the end I only use the win8.1 hybrid for work stuff when I travel or for watching downloaded movies when I travel and cannot stream.

This would be a great comparison, but all of the ads conveniently neglect to mention that as configured the MacBook Air 11" is cheaper. Moreover, for $70 more than the configured price of the Surface, you can get a 13" MacBook Air which has a bigger screen.

The only advantage the Surface Pro 3 has is touch. I'm a programmer, my bash shell [defecates] on laptop touch interfaces. It was never meant to be, the Surface Pro 3 is only one step beyond this,

and this sucks, though for the price, it's probably still a better machine than the Surface. At least it sits on your lap, dammit.

If you really need the touch interface, buy a MacBook Air 11" and a Wacom. It'll be a better overall experience for only slightly more than the price of a Pro 3 at entry level.

According to them, it still holds more stuff on the smaller screen.

Oh god, seriously? You'd better be kidding.

From a standpoint of use, and which is used more, he isn't joking.

No, he's not, but seriously? Gas cars are also the most prolific vehicles on the road, but I don't think there's a single reasonable soul who doubts that electric is both better and the future of automotive transportation as a whole.

At remaining at a perpetually low market share ;)

Microsoft's market share now is fanboys, gamers and people who can't afford Macs. Everyone else has either chosen Linux or OS X, and Chromebooks are biting pretty hard into Windows' low end.

Sales don't equate to quality unless Apple's doing better. >_>

It never equates to quality. What equates to quality is their customer satisfaction and how well their products are made.

Microsoft neither has good customer satisfaction nor do they make good products anymore. That's their problem.

OS X is 10 times better than Windows !

I'll bet tens of millions think gasoline powered vehicles are better than electric powered ones. Windows and Office has the worlds majority in market share. Perhaps it would make more sense to say that OSX's market share is made up of fanboys. The world runs on Windows.

Microsoft does make good things. o_O Their mice and keyboards are amazing, and the Surface is really good in terms of hardware. Windows 8 is also really good on a tablet.

Also ... Chromebooks aren't selling in any large amount.

If that's a measure of how good something is, then I guess McDonald's makes the best food in the world now.

It is for nearly everyone who uses it. Which platform is experiencing growth in the desktop area? Not Windows...

It's ok if OSX is best for you. For the majority of the market, it isn't.

I don't care what tens of millions think. You're making argumentums ad populum all over the place.

I also don't care if OS X's market share is made up of "fanboys." That number is growing, what it means to you does not matter to me, my friend.

But those ads have facts. This barely has any facts...

It's always ok when Apple does it.

You're the one making unsubstantiated claims. Everything I posted is true and the facts back it up. The world runs on Windows, not OSX.

The Surface is a misguided Chimaera of a product. It takes the worst parts of two devices and puts them together into one. (tablets standing on their own, terrible laptop keyboards)

I don't care if Windows 8 is "good on a tablet." iOS and Android are arguably better, and they were there first.

Substantiated?

The world runs on Linux. The world's inhabitants access it with Macs.
