As long as the Windows machine is still Windows and requires anti-virus, who cares? The form of the box running Windows has never mattered. It's all about being Windows-free (at home). It'll sell to the diehards, but I'll be amazed if this thing catches on. It tries to be everything all at once.

For most people, yes.... and considering the iPad is two inches smaller??

A quarter pound is not an insignificant amount of weight. In tablet mode, the Surface 3 feels like a big, heavy iPad Air. In tabletop mode, it feels like a tiny laptop with a terrible trackpad and an only decent keyboard. It's not very good at doing either of the jobs of the devices it's supposed to replace, and instead asks people to remember a time when tablets were less simple, when you needed a stylus to use them and laptop docks were still a thing.

To bad their OS sucks lol.

OS X is far from perfect. There's plenty of room for improvement, and I'm not talking about aesthetics here, I'm talking about the OS itself. It's needs an improved file system, more consistent functionality with Finder, etc. Still, OS X is far more stable than anything Microsoft has released since DOS.

What's with the recent Apple bashing in ads?

Highlight what your product has, not what your competitor doesn't.

it is called follow the dealer in marketing.
life is really strange, how things turn in time.

How long have you had your Surface Pro 3?

What, you got a problem with HFS+?

What's the problem with Finder? They update it all the time.

I don't have one. Every time I walk by a MS store and see nobody inside though, I feel bad for the Surfaces sitting there pristine, with no fingerprints to grace their casings or screens.

I use them a lot, even though I don't own one, and I carry my iPad Air everywhere so it's fairly easy for me to compare.

So you know it's a bad tablet through 5-10 minutes of usage a few times? Would that be like knowing a MacBook Air is bad because you've used one a few times at Best Buy?

I think you underestimate how much time I spend in stores, and how much time I spend wandering shopping malls.

Don't make me tell you, it's embarrassing.

That would be different. Apple makes the MBA.

The MacBook Air has been out for seven years. That's ample time for one to test a device.

It also is streamlined and runs an OS whose user majority doesn't actively hate it.

A) It's alright, I would spend a lot of time in a Microsoft store if we had one. Or an Apple store.
B) The majority don't hate Windows either.

The majority don't hate Windows 7, but Windows 8 on the other hand...

I believe my point has been made.

The point that is made is ... that a majority of random forum-goers don't like Windows 8. A majority of actual users are likely ambivalent. It isn't like there has been a good study that points either way, though.

Edit: My bad, the BGR source actually counters the idea of most people disliking it. A 75% approval rating isn't "everyone dislikes it". It's passing.

I suppose you're right. There aren't any sweeping surveys. A significant portion of people don't like it though.

----------

Yep, because you say so.

You sir are truly an *******. Apparently I'm an idiot and you know everything, Mr. Superior.

The design is objectively not streamlined though. Detachable keyboard, kickstand, etc.

Also, why are you on a Mac forum when you do nothing but bash Macs and talk about how Apple sucks?

You're the one stating your opinion as fact.

1. I didn't realize that there were requirements when I joined the forum. I seldom read the fine print.

2. I know this is hard to believe, but some of us actually own Apple products and don't worship the company.

I know how it weighs and how it feels in your hand, probably as much as anyone who reviews it knows. If that's not enough for you, fine. I for one like to be confident in my purchases, I don't just buy a ton of things and return which ones I don't like.

Who's returning things?

Who's returning things?

You acted like I don't know what I'm talking about, and while I don't know as much as you do, I'm not unknowledgeable nor am I stupid.

I'm not stating my opinion as fact. What am I supposed to do? Put a disclaimer at the bottom of all of my posts? You seem to be the one interpreting my posts as facts.

I also give other companies credit for good products, even if they don't suit my particular needs. You keep making unsubstantiated claims, not me. You're the one who claimed that what you said is true and ignored everything else.

I ceded that Windows 8 is most likely not hated by the majority of its users. You keep bashing Apple and basically making an Artie MacStrawman out of me.

Almost nobody thinks the Surface is a great product, either. Look it up yourself.

Microsoft is, sadly, right: you don't have to buy a laptop and a tablet to do the stuff you need.

You're right... someone wouldn't buy a 12" tablet to go along with their 12" laptop. That would be silly and redundant.

But there are advantages to separate devices... especially when size is concerned.

The 12" Surface Pro 3 may be fine for something that is supposed to perform laptop duties... but 12" is kinda large for "tablet" duties. Hell... some people think 10" tablets are too large.

In my opinion... the combination of an 8" tablet and a 14" laptop would be better than a 12" laptop/tablet hybrid.

Sure... it's two devices... but they're both sized appropriately for the particular task.
