Holy CRAP! I'm 25 and I think these guys are young! They look like freshmen interns to me. 2ndly, whoever edits those videos, the camera angles are nice, "hip and modern" but the sound is horrendous. They should have let me edit it, I'm a videographer. Sound editing would be... wait, they don't have that in Windows Movie Maker or whatever crap that is. On a serious note, the sound is way too boomy (bass) and the lapel mic's... yeah, not a good idea. Especially on junior there w/ the Abercromby and Fitch crap.

I still can't believe the Apple crowd is pulling the age card.

I don't do a lot of word-processing or creating powerpoints, although I do look at a lot of them (school lectures). But I find iWork to be better, just because its better integrated into the OS, its UI is miles better than the current Office and its nice and minimalistic. Also the fullscreen mode in Pages is just awesome.

Jesus

Just let the new Outlook sync flawlessly with iPhone/iCal. Lost so many clients with that incompatible crap. This is supposed to be the one right? The compatible Office? LOL Neo/OpenOffice is great too and affordable. Thank the Mac Gods for the hard working opensource community!

Wow. Just wow.

Though, to be fair, some of my friends upgraded from 7 to XP at the same time, and there were refreshments involved. That was a lighthearted, jovial affair, perhaps even worthy of the word "party."
I have a friend who waited in line at a CompUSA when Windows95 went on sale at midnight.

I never let him forget it, either. ;)

Features? Progress?

Here's a few features & things they should focus upon:

  • Get it done
  • Make it fast
  • Make it reliable
  • Have it maintain the same page layout when using docs on Windows and Mac
  • Stop wasting your time on a bunch of templates that no one uses. You know what people use for templates MS? They make a copy of the last document they created that is similar to what they need, and they open THAT and edit it. Can't you figure this out? My god .... wake up MS.
  • Stop wasting time on the ribbon. The ribbon SUCKS. Every person that I know that uses WinWord hates the ribbon. Period. It was a good EXPERIMENT, but so was OS/2 and BetaMax. Get over it. Continuing to shove it down our throats won't change anything.

No thanks.

Nothing sucks worse on my Mac than stuff from MS. Well, maybe Adobe.

Yeah What's up with that? The Top selling software for Mac sucks. You'd think Microsoft and Adobe would try harder.

Is fast, efficient, reliable and stable on that feature list? If not, couldn't care less.

Also, when is MSN for Mac going to get updated or MSN compatibility for iChat going to be added? Adium is nice but a fully compatible client would be better.

I pretty much get this between Word 2008 on my Mac and documents in Word 2007 or 2010 right now.

As was pointed out earlier, the ribbon will be optional in Office 2011 (Mac). Which isn't true for Office 2010 (for Windows).

I'm not a fan at all of Office 2008 on the Mac but MS have really pulled it together with Office 2010 on Windows. I have been using word since word for Windows 2.0 - and now office 2010 many hours, every day. Word 2010 is, dare I say it, almost a pleasure to use. Both visually and functionally.

My staff still uses MS Word 2003 for Windoze. I have yet to see any "feature" in newer versions that makes it worthwhile to upgrade (on a PC). Since 2003, anything new has been nothing but bloat and useless stuff that's not needed in a lot of workplaces.

And no, we don't use VBA.

Nobody else mentioned how cute the girl is? Okay, it's unprofessional and I'll take the bullet. And I'm conflicted, I hate Office for Mac and the people who inflict it on us, but I like the girl. Sigh. I guess it isn't meant to be...

I guess I'll buy it in case Excel has new features, but their marketing hype always gives me a negative impression. I still think Office 2004 was an improvement over Office 2008.

Template Gallery: I have no use for it. I hope it's easy to disable.

Outlook: For years I've been helping people who were suffering from its features. I will never use it myself.

Ribbon: I hate the ribbon and hope it's easy to disable.

Good job!

Kudos to the MBU. This is a big, big improvement over Office '08. Now if they could run the rest of the company like the MBU, they might be able to fix everything that's Windows.

11 is very fast (fastest office on mac ever), efficient and stable.
I love it.
Im not a Microsoft fanboy, just like the software. I have only used Word, PowerPoint and Excel on it and am very, very impressed.

Outlook for 2011 currently sucks at integration.
Its nice if you sent it up to run alone, but no iCal, mail, etc. integration at all.

No wander '08 was rubbish, a bunch of kids were working on it..

Office 2008 was actually an elementary school project for a technology magnet school.

Really? The look is nice, but the thing still crashes harder than the careers of the crash test dummies.

Maybe they'll finally be able to approach Word 5 in terms of quality. It only took them over a decade.

It's just not as good as iWork, IMO.

You're a rare fanboy, then. It seems there's a lot of Apple hypocrisy going on. "Oh, Microsoft, how we hate you. Please shut down. But just make sure you support our Mirosoft Office For Mac and Boot Camp first. But, yeah. You totally suck though."
