Just in case you missed this reply from me, I'm most interested to know how you got Outlook to work with outlook.com via exchange.I don't know. It just worked.
Thanks.

I will take a look. I have been using Windows these last few days and didn't have the opportunity to take a look at it.
New Office for Mac Technical Preview will be out in Jan, not sure if that's the public beta or just the preview for companies who have signed up with MS.

The new Outlook for Mac has just been updated two days ago. Do you feel any difference from the previous version?
I've been running the new Outlook for Mac since it was released, and it has not detected an update. Is this something that requires manual download? Thanks.
Yes, Outlook 15.4 is available only through a manual update. Take a look here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3025088
Did you find any difference?
At Server settings, I put the address (outlook.office365.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx). I checked the "Use SSL" and "Logon" boxes. Put my e-mail address and password.
And that was it. It just works.
Thanks. I can't get it to work. But going by that server address it appears that I need to use the Office365 version of Outlook which I don't have. (I just have the standard stand-alone copy which came with Office 2011 for Mac.).
If you want to try outlook 20015 you can subscribe to office 365 (7.99 1 month u.k. pricing) and cancel auto renew immediately
(I've just done this and downloaded and setup outlook 20015)
works very well
doesn't import my contacts/email adds from mac mail![]()
I'll let you know once I get to install and try it out. I'm eager to see improvements particularly with Exchange support. I've removed my Exchange account because it was giving me too many issues, and I couldn't afford to have a crippled email client when dealing with work critical tasks.
A few things I've observed over the past couple months:
1) no cached exchange mode (major bummer - I do not want to choose between Exchange support and having to dedicate 50 GB of disk space to old emails)
2) Exchange Server 2010 SP1 or later required (or else it won't recognize the server)
3) the Exchange supported is EWS (same as Mail.app, no full-fledged support like Outlook 2010 or 2013)
4) outlook.com setup works seamlessly for me (just choose "other account" during setup)
Just changed the name of the thread. The next Office for Mac will definitely not be Office 2014. Perhaps it's Office 2015, or even 2016, depending on the release date.
Think its going to be office 20015 -there's a public tech preview expected Jan

That update came out a couple of weeks ago for the tech preview group, nothing really different, just bug fixes.
I've just got a new MacBook Pro today. I'm contemplating office 365 but having never subscribed before - can anyone tell me if I'll automatically get any updates for Word, Excel etc. if I get 365 for as long as my subscription remains active?
Yes. If you subscribe to Office 365, you will have the latest version of Office for any platform, at the time of the release.
Brilliant - thanks for the quick response.
Maybe already been asked but here it goes.
Is office for Mac 2011 compatible with Yosemite?
Tks in advance
