I agree with this, my guess it's that some kind of switch in the code that changes the property in activity monitor. They might have missed that.OMG. Who lied? So since the version doesn't show "Apple Silicon" they lied? Like intentionally? Or perhaps something went wrong? I can't believe I'm defending Microsoft, but this is just silly.Mistakes happen. It's just a computer software.
It has nothing to do with switches or whatever. If the bundle contains Intel and M1, select the OneDrive app in Applications folder, right click and if it says "Application (Universal)" it is for M1 (and Intel), if it says "Application (Intel)" it is Intel only via Rosetta 2. And Activity monitor cannot be cheated as well.I agree with this, my guess it's that some kind of switch in the code that changes the property in activity monitor. They might have missed that.
And one other thing, the OneDrive version is not even available on Appstore yet so...
It's usually a week behind. The App Store version of OneDrive still seems to be Intel-only for the moment.

that blue smudge on the image got me good ?
Thought my screen was going bad.
This issue was fixed earlier this year when OneDrive migrated over to using Apple’s Files Provider frameworks and APIs. If your OneDrive shows up under “Locations” instead of as a folder favorite in your Finder Sidebar then your version is good to go with 12.3.Does this mean it won't have problems once 12.3 comes out? I heard there were kernel depreciation that can affect OneDrive functionality.
True, but for AppleStore it's not true. But I'm guessing that Apple will approve it today or tomorrow. For those of you impatient users who are wondering why you haven't got the Apple Silcon version yet. Microsoft does releases in rings. When a new version of their software is released, not all users get access immediately. Microsoft typically rolls out the update over a week or two. That way, if a critical bug was not caught in beta testing, the update can be paused and quickly corrected.
Remember Microsoft primary customers are enterprises. Imaging if a bug caused OneDrive to stop syncing a very large company? It could cripple a company.
Did OneDrive (Intel) not meet your fundamental needs somehow? While I've wanted an AS version of OneDrive, the Intel version works. Curious how you were inconvenienced by not having the AS version?I'm glad that they are finally doing it, but one would wonder why a company as big as dropbox is taking so long for something that's so fundamental to the user's needs. It was obvious Apple was moving into ARM fully.
A mistake is not a lie, by definition. But you're refusing to upgrade because MS forgot to set a flag in their code or something?Yo can't believe yourself defending Microsoft, I can't believe myself attacking them. ?
But yes, that is the reason. They simply lied, by mistake or because whatever, and if it was a real mistake, they haven't retracted.
It's absolutely true for the App Store version. We use JAMF at our work (12 hospitals) and when machines get built or restored, they're going to pull down the App Store version of all the Office apps. So, yeah.True, but for AppleStore it's not true. But I'm guessing that Apple will approve it today or tomorrow.
No, of course not. I'm tired of high CPU usage, programs lockdowns trying to open a file stored in OneDrive and so on. I removed yesterday, just before the announcement.A mistake is not a lie, by definition. But you're refusing to upgrade because MS forgot to set a flag in their code or something?
The problems with OneDrive under macOS, and more with the "new" File API, are related to dramatic slowdowns opening files stored in OneDrive folders, high CPU usage and so on. Or this, from last 22.022 version when trying to open the Recycle Bin.Did OneDrive (Intel) not meet your fundamental needs somehow? While I've wanted an AS version of OneDrive, the Intel version works. Curious how you were inconvenienced by not having the AS version?
I only want it for better battery life on my MBA, but for the most part, I've not had any issues with OneDrive.Did OneDrive (Intel) not meet your fundamental needs somehow? While I've wanted an AS version of OneDrive, the Intel version works. Curious how you were inconvenienced by not having the AS version?
Given that Apple is still selling Intel Macs, hasn't completed their transition yet, and are rumored to have at least one intel refresh left, I'd like to imagine that Rosetta 2 still has a pretty long life ahead of it. I can't imagine it being EOLed until at least 1.5-2 years after Apple stops selling new Intel Macs. IMHO, it'd also be really nice if Apple actually just left Rosetta 2 around for as long as they can (kind of like how you could still run Aperture until very recently, and it still works now with some workarounds even on AS,) for compatibility purposes.
Yes Teams is an abomination at this point. I mean, it's better than on PC, but for the power that I know my M1 has, it's atrocious. Now they can get to work on MS Teams, which is the only other non-native app on my Mac.
Thanks for the tip. I don't normally leave Teams open on battery (partly since the pandemic means I rarely need to work outside the home now, and partly because I know it's a battery hog) but I'm always looking for ways to maximize battery life when I'm away from a wall socket. For those having battery issues with Teams, try disabling GPU accelerations. Helps loads on mine.
