It's now two buttons, one for "Download files as you use them (recommended)" and "Download all OneDrive files now".

So, yes, it does have it.
Do you have standalone or Mac App Store Version? If standalone, are you opted-in to previews?

I’m on standalone and not opted-in to previews (on v22.022) and don’t see that toggle yet (which seems to require v22.033)

Did OneDrive (Intel) not meet your fundamental needs somehow? While I've wanted an AS version of OneDrive, the Intel version works. Curious how you were inconvenienced by not having the AS version?
Not inconvenienced per se other than some extra CPU usage and minor battery drain, but this kind of reflects what kind of priority Dropbox as a company is giving to more fundamental parts of the experience like the user client. It shouldn't take people complaining on twitter to officially announce a M1 version is even in the works.

I finally found a link on Microsoft's website!

Scroll down to the Rolling Out section and you can download the Apple Silicon version of OneDrive.

OneDrive updated on my M1 MBA via the App Store. It's still showing as the Intel version and around 250GB of my files are no longer saved on my device. I no longer have the option to turn off Files On Demand and when I try to download a folder of files I get a "Couldn't Communicate with Helper Application" error.

Seriously, WT actual F? Even if I get this resolved I now have to download 250GB of my data again. This is inexcusably bad.

This is awful. I can no longer sign-in to OneDrive, I am stuck in a loop that keeps asking me for my email, never my password, then it just comes up and eventually says it cannot sync.

try removing OneDrive using an app like AppCleaner, which also removes all OneDrive data. Remove your previous OneDrive folder. Make a backup (using Time Machine) before you do any of this.

Then reinstall OneDrive and login.

Try this first:

Go to this webpage:
Office-Reset

Download the Office reset tool. It is an installer. You can choose which Office Apps to reset.

(And before anyone asks, the webpage and scripts were written by Paul Bowden, who is part of the Office for Mac team at Microsoft. This is a legit tool.)

Hopefully Microsoft releases 22.033 on the App Store soon. I much prefer having my apps update there rather than Microsoft's clunky standalone method.

Microsoft OneDrive is dead to me after what they pulled off with their last update. Dead and uninstalled.

I'm honestly glad to see the apple silicon transition going so well.
I'm almost at a point where all the software I use is apple silicon native.
The only major applications I need updated are After Effects (which has a perfectly usable native beta), and Animate.
After Effects will surely be made native in a non beta state this april/may, around the time when the whole suite gets its mid-year refresh.

to be honest its rare that i actually care either way. rosetta2 is so good it’s fairly transparent.

sure i’d prefer if everything was native and we will get there but even running intel my m1 pro still smokes any previous intel machine i’ve owned.

What does selling Intel Macs have to do with ending Rosetta? Intel binaries still run on Intel, heh. Rosetta is one way translation. Universal Binaries will likely be there for a while, given that Apple will still sell Intel Macs for a while refurbished.

As for one more Intel Mac, it's likely the Mac Pro, but we're not even sure about that. The current Mac Pro has enough horsepower for the pro's that use them to last for another year until Apple will introduce an AS version. I'm not up to snuff on the Intel workstation architecture to know if they could just "spec bump it" with newer processors and not need to redesign the whole boards, kind of like Mac Pro 4,1 went to 5,1.
it’s not like intel have anything for them to upgrade to that actually matters anyway.

my bet for the mac pro intel edition is new officially supported gpus and that’s about it.

ice lake xeons are pretty … crap in terms of improvement.

In the OneDrive Preferences, there are now two buttons:

Download files as you use them (recommended)

and

Download all OneDrive files now

is it what you meant?
This recent article explains the new behaviour in details.

Have upgraded OneDrive to 22.033 will see how it goes.

Which key features does it lack? I use Teams exclusively as an Edge PWA and beyond the fact that it is light and AS-native, it is pretty robust, apart from (i) messing with my audio input source on a regular basis and (ii) not displaying more than 4 users' video at a time.
Yes Teams is an abomination at this point. I mean, it's better than on PC, but for the power that I know my M1 has, it's atrocious.

If I turn it into an app in Edge, it's day and night, but then again it lacks the key features.

It doesn't mean a whole lot unless they fix their on my Mac/OneDrive download issue.

Its not Mac specific. OneDrive often doesn't sync correctly on both Mac and Windows. Sometimes it can take a whole day to sync a single document of a few MB's. The OneDrive panel randomly shows that something "needs attention", but not what's really wrong.

I'd stick to regular network drive shares or virtualised computing. Better yet... ditch MS Office asap, there are enough better alternatives for all platforms.

Unfortunately, that seems unlikely in the short term... they're probably focussed on getting Teams completely off Electron and converted over to Webview2 everywhere.
Not sure what Electron is. Is that a multi-platform thing?

Once Teams gets updated, can companies please stop supplying ThinkPads and start giving out Macs? I can swear Microsoft apps work more efficiently and faster on Macs than on Windows.
Sadly not for me. Excel on a Mac is missing several key features for me compared to its PC version. Things like formula evaluation isn't there, and don't get me started on VBA editor differences. Can't speak for the other apps though. Maybe they are a little closer in feature set?

For those of you impatient users who are wondering why you haven't got the Apple Silcon version yet. Microsoft does releases in rings. When a new version of their software is released, not all users get access immediately. Microsoft typically rolls out the update over a week or two. That way, if a critical bug was not caught in beta testing, the update can be paused and quickly corrected.

Remember Microsoft primary customers are enterprises. Imaging if a bug caused OneDrive to stop syncing a very large company? It could cripple a company.
You mean they aren't lying after all? ?

Yes, Electron is a multi-platform framework, but suffers from high memory usage and outdated security, and inmost cases, the apps just look 'dated'...

Been there, done that.

Electron is a plague on humanity. It's a javascript wrapper so websites can work as apps. It makes apps slow, inefficient, clunky and weird to use. Utterly horrid and anyone who uses it should be shot.

Well geez. Tell us how you really feel.

Some people have to use apps for work or school, apps like Zoom, Teams, Slack, or Skype. I’m sure most folks didn’t even know that these apps were electron style apps, either. I’m not advocating FOR that clunky framework, but shot? Damn bro.

Did the update, but it still consumes up tp 250(!) MB of RAM. When my MacBook is idling it is still the most RAM-consuming application... Am I being too demanding?

That's .... not too shabby tbh. Mine is as below, but then it's on a 64GB machine that I basically don't even tickle, so I'm not concerned.

What I will say though is....... I've not had any issues since I upgraded to it! That's more important to me tbh. I'll leave it for another week and drop my NAS sync and go back to the client I think.
