I gotta agree with the ad. What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months? But unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves like nice little iSheep. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

I was asking myself the very same question "What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months?"

But after the iPhone event it was clear:
- getting first fingerprint sensor into phone that will work
- rewriting OS and make tools for easy transition to 64-bit

That surely is innovative, since it has never been done before...

So what?

unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves like nice little iSheep. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

So sick of hearing this tired lament. People buy what they like. Not everyone cares about "innovation".

What the heck has Apple been doing for the past year?

The "S" cycle is the spec bump for the iPhone. They're not going to put radical new changes in at this point. Adding another half-billion transistors & doubling processing speed while increasing battery life in the same weight & volume isn't trivial. Providing a new color seems trivial, until you consider it is very attractive to an untapped market of a billion potential customers. A radical overhaul of the OS is significant.

There's also the fact that the market is just plain stabilizing. Most people don't need a vastly more powerful phone or tablet. Most people who are going to buy smartphones or tablets already have them (except the aforementioned billion who happen to also have a fondness for the color gold). A major improvement (to your high yet unspecified standards) just won't make a big dent in the market right now.

Did they forget to mention the words Window Phone on the ad?

They spend the whole advert talking about the iPhone and ending it with a hash tag #timetoswitch without telling the user what to switch to - and even if they did they didn't mention any reason why to switch.

The commercials are done in poor taste but they do bring up a good point... What the heck has Apple been doing for the past year? Upgraded camera, processor, and finger print sensor? We get camera and processor upgrades every year.

Please compile a short list of what innovations you would like to see.

I'd say that virtually every manufacturer out there is still playing catch-up with Apple. Screen size isn't an innovation. Nor is removable memory (those are modifications to the basic setup). Look beyond the hardware, too. The App Store is still light years beyond anything else. Android is a fractured mess.

Also consider the usefulness of such features. My iPhone was dropped into a lake last year; yet within 15 minutes of buying a new one I had all of my contacts, apps, photos, etc back - thanks to iCloud and wireless automatic backups to my computer. My sister, who never updated her Android OS on her Samsung, lost everything from the last two years when her phone was stolen. Sure, she could have backed up everything...but most people never do, and almost nobody else does it with regularity. My iPhone takes care of that for me after I touched a button one time - silently, in the background, and unfailingly covering my butt.

Depending on which Android OS, which version of which phone, and whether you have the memory card with the right application on it, you may be able to kinda do the same thing. Almost. If you remember.

Mini soft, or micro soft

It is profoundly shatering and emotionally frigthning how the top executives at micro soft, can permit the publishing of a duuuuu comercial that insults the intellectuality, leadership and vision of the man that changed the digital wolrd, Steve Jobs. Mr. Ballmer with unrespectfull charades like this, you are surelly and will be prematurely cancelled from mini soft decision making. The other guy that left as ceo of minisoft, i cannot remember your name, but you know who you are SHAME ON YOU ALL. You all uncivilized undoers at minisoft, SHAME ON YOU. May the force BE NOT WITH YOU!

Y'know, if you want people to use your product, you might want to highlights its advantages over the competition... Just saying.

Seriously, I just canceled my xbox one pre-order. I'm an avid gamer but just the PS4 for me. Thanks MS, you just saved me $500.

I know companies do questionable things everyday, but in my view PUBLICLY putting this out there as a big "eff you" to Apple and making fun of someone who died of cancer is waaaaaay over the line, so I feel you on that. The production value was atrocious as well, that didn't' help their message.

Desperate People Do Desperate Things

When it comes to consumer-based products, Microsoft has never gotten it right and I don't expect them to ever get it right in the future, either. Just look at Windows ME, Vista, the Zune music player, etc. Microsoft has been trying to copy Apple for over 30 years. Most of their attempts have failed.

To the people who wonders what apple has been up to.

If you are in the software business, you know that converting from 32 to 64 bit is quite the feat alone, re-writing OS backend and front end is almost insurmountable under a year. Delivering tight hardware / software integration at the same time is close to impossible unless you all work for the same goal.

Releasing a new Desktop OS, a new Mobile OS, two (maybe more soon) devices with ground breaking hardware advancements in one year, simply amazing.

I switched to WP8 from my 4s when my contract was up because I didn't like the feel of iOS7, WP8 is a great mobile OS.

These "ads" were pathetic..:(

You really expect innovative? When have we seen that since the first iPhone? You're going to continue to get evolutionary, not revolutionary. The only way you get new and innovative is with a totally new device.

Honestly, who in cell phones is innovating? I can't name a single one in recent years.

----------

Including a dead guy.

Jobs is selling more phones while dead than Ballmer can while alive. That's sad.

They say the word iPhone 5 times... hehehe They even threw in iWatch in there in case people have not heard of that coming.

Product recognition is a fabulous thing.
