It's not at all clear how the videos -- which don't ever explain how Windows Phone is better than iOS -- help Microsoft achieve its stated goal of getting users to switch to its platform.

I'm guessing these were mockups for real television ads that were rejected, but some MS manager said "hey, just so I don't look like like I was completely unproductive, let's throw them up on YouTube anyway".

The commercials are done in poor taste but they do bring up a good point... What the heck has Apple been doing for the past year? Upgraded camera, processor, and finger print sensor? We get camera and processor upgrades every year.

zzZzzzZzzZZ

I am going to use a line I steal from draugminaion on Appleinsider Forum.

MS is doomed, This is what happened when forward thinking CEO got forced out of the company. Balmer would never have allowed this!

Actually, I've seen a lot of commercials for used car dealerships that blow the quality of this out of the water.

coming from a company that produces brightly colored 'hear it click when you attach it' keyboards for their tablet.

This.

A major selling point on introducing the Surface was...a keyboard cover. In a small variety of pretty colors. For an extra $80. Not actually included with the device, despite strong implication it was included.

At least the color and fingerprint reader are actually included in the new iPhone.

Now, let's take a look again at processing speed, power consumption, and biometrics...

I gotta agree with the ad. What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months? But unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves like nice little iSheep. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

No phones are innovative anymore. Adding features isn't innovating. What has apple been up to? A lot actually. Mostly working on a new watch and believe me this watch will be innovative and unlike ANY other watch you have ever seen. They have also been working on a tv platform but if rumors are to be believed they are stuck dealing with the cable companies and content owners who are terrified of apple stealing their business so that is a difficult market to get into and apple won't just make some crappy set top box.

I don't know how you expect them to innovate more on the smartphone and wow everyone... They can't dramatically change their most popular product ever just because some people are bored with it - eapecially when the competition isn't doing anything radically different either.

This is total open frontal war! Really sad this is coming from Microsoft, even the quality of the video itself is horrible. Amateur

That character they call "T" or Tim is clearly supposed to be Steve Jobs.

These ads are just dumb. Nothing clever about them. Now it's just getting bitter, vindictive, and desperate for Microsoft. It's sad really.

The ads are absolutely repulsive. I know it doesn't make a difference, but MS is never, EVER, getting another dime from me. My personal boycott.

I swear

I was just about to get my son one of these but I made my typical macrumors pit stop. I don't understand Microsoft. They should be miles ahead of Apple, but with people spending time making ideas like this, I can see why they are so behind.

Questionable taste? More like right on the money.
However, Microsoft has zero room to criticize.

This is the story of Microsoft's entire existence.
So much potential. So many billions wasted. Such crappy products.

I can't disagree.

But rather than be happy that they suck because it makes it so much easier to beat them, Steve was sad. Almost like he wanted a fair fight but the situation of the time, in his mind was like beating up someone that couldn't or wouldn't fight back

At risk of exposing my utter nerdiness it reminds of the line from Firefly when the kid quips about the captain one day killing him in his sleep. Captain very seriously replies "if I ever kill you, you'll be awake. And you'll be armed."

I going to step out on a limb and say that image probably means something different to you than it does to me. But that is totally okay.

the image symbolizes Apple counting their money, they don't even really have to try anymore they have like more than a billion dollars lol

is this the work of an inhouse team or an ad agency.
if this is inhouse, no wonder the color suck, editing, everything.

if this is an ad agency work. my god, they won't get another job based on this.

this is just sad and very low taste.

If it was a Google/Android commercial it might of been a little funnier. Does Microsoft even have a phone any more? Oh wait they just bought Nokia

Agree. The Jobs (back of the head) look alike is dumb. But everything else rings true to most people I talk to:
1 year later, major update is to the color and an expensive downgrade to plastic

Folks that are saying that are missing the plot. The 5C isn't for them. They should be looking at the 5S which is a huge bump for a 'S' model. So much so if they had decided to call it the iPhone 6 (new numbers typically signify major changes) few would fuss.

The 5C is for the folks that don't feel the need for the latest and greatest tech which is why many are still rocking the 3GS and 4. If Apple made any mistake in that regards it was perhaps keeping the 4s and not putting the 5c in both the 'free' and 'cheap' slots

I don't understand what is so questionable in this.

Just because M$ does not have better phone does not mean that they cannot make fun of Apple strategy.

It's like common public complaining about how Lebron is/was not clutch etc. even though they have never held the basketball in their hands.

Do you not understand the concept of something being in poor taste???

The ads aren't even funny, they're just stupid. I find it weird they don't mention Microsoft's product at all. And they're boring. And it's insulting how one of them looks like SJ...
