Oh no. You mentioned SD cards. In about 15 minutes, someone's gonna claim you're still living in 1856, and you need to get up to date with the modern, everything-wireless era.

Ha! Um micro SD cards are pretty modern. But whatever. I'm glad you found your pasture to meetup with other iSheep.

LTE-A: What's the point until it's more widely available?

A7 more power efficient: They did by adding the M7 chip.

Better battery tech: How? Without this being just a pipe dream? Who doesn't want better battery tech in their phone? What competitor achieves this to your satisfaction?

32/64/128: Agree.

The M7 chip does things previous A chips couldn't do and required the accelerometer for. More chips = more energy required. But nice try.

I gotta agree with the ad. What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months? But unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

And most certainly not worth the cost people have to pay for it.

I wish this ad was funny, edgy and intelligent... but it's not and it's just kind of typical MS humour which I guess I just don't get.

Besides, it's all "in the family", apple does it, MS does it, Samsung does it and SONY will do it soon. It just doesn't really amount to anything so what is the difference, people will buy whatever is MOST POPULAR, not what is better. Better these days is validated with a yellow or red sticker on a plastic box, with some rating from someone you never heard of... that seems to be enough for most people.

Apple Always lied about the speed increases they made, it's all numbers and those are easily manipulated.

Sometimes I wish Apple would fight back against attacks like this.

No. The first rule of success is never initiate or even acknowledge competition thats lower than you.

Apple is right to be ignoring this.

You really think those features are going to improve the iPhone and give people features they are clamoring for? LOL!!!!! NFC mass adoption is a big question nor is widely used. So throwing that battery sucking feature in just to say you have it is just plain stupid. It needs to be something that has value and at this point it is just not there yet. Overall, It really does not benefit the majority of users. An SD card and removable battery just makes for a larger bulkier and uglier phone. Apple's goal is to give you and thin, stylish phone with great battery life through optimized hardware and Software. With airdrop, iCloud and other features SD cards are becoming irrelevant. Bigger screen? Maybe... and this something Apple might do but overall and I often go back and forth on the pro's and cons of a bigger screen.

The smartphone 2.0 era wasn't widely adopted till apple came along with the iPhone. You're telling me apple should have just released a phoe like the palm treo and called it a day? No, they had balls and took technology to areas not yet seen before. They made the market play catch up. Now everyone is pretty much equal because apple is okay with mediocrity.

Boring ad.

Not sure why so many people are wound up. Nothing better to do on a Friday / Saturday?

The M7 chip does things previous A chips couldn't do and required the accelerometer for. More chips = more energy required. But nice try.

To be fair, the M7 chip is supposed to be used for motion tracking without having to take the A7 chip out of sleep. Whether this works well in practice is to be seen.

But yes, I agree with you about MicroSD ... Apple should really add a slot to their phones.

You of course are correct - sorry if I used the wrong terminology. However, one could obviously tell by context that I was talking about storage and not RAM. Only someone who is completely pedantic would assume I truly meant RAM and NOT storage and make it a point to correct me...

My point still remains - Apple needs to up the storage in their next iteration...
You mean my point that you commented on and agreed with? Sorry if you have a problem with your termonagly vocabulary but that's no reason to insult me.

Boring ad.

Not a single person here is "wound up" over this. Even the biggest MS hater can see that this is even low for MS or any company. There's just nothing about it that's compels anyone to buy a Microsoft product. At least with most ads they may bash the competition but give compelling reasons to buy their product. All these ads are doing are putting Apple down and insulting the intelligence of their customers. Great way to get people to buy from you Microsoft.

This was just 24 hours after their pathetic request of iPad owners to trade-in their iPads for a coupon to purchase a Surface RT. What company goes down that low to embarrass themselves? Again no compelling reason to purchase a MS product.
Maybe it's YOU that has nothing better to do on a Saturday but to put down others. ;)

So I read many of the posts here (but far from all), and while I agree I the ad is in poor taste, many of the posters missed the point of the ads. The weren't just making fun of Apple management, past and present, they were making fun of anyone that has ever bought an apple device.

The message of these ads is simply: "Aren't you a fool for buying into this ecosystem? They ship a plastic phone and you buy it because they tell you it's cool. They aren't innovating, and you people are idiots."

Well speaking as one of those people that is going to buy an iPhone on the 20th (my first), you're wrong, Microsoft. High quality, relatively inexpensive (< $100) current gen smartphones are highly desirable. Especially ones with Apple build quality and OS. Make fun of me all you want, the junk you and your partners produce is the real joke.

Whatever people need to do to draw attention away from the lackluster 5C launch. If it had actually been a successful launch, this story wouldn't have even made MRs.

That character they call "T" or Tim is clearly supposed to be Steve Jobs.

These ads are just dumb. Nothing clever about them. Now it's just getting bitter, vindictive, and desperate for Microsoft. It's sad really.

Hmm...unfunny as the ad is, Apple did bitter and vindictive first with the "Mac Vs PC" adverts

Microsoft is wrong because you bothered to seek the truth, plenty of people out there care less about the truth.
Microsoft wants their money.
See?

Easy.

Apple will never add sd slots to their devices.

Why allow people to buy a 16GB SD card for £10 when they can sell a 32GB model for £80 more than the 16GB version.

Apple should really supply lube with the higher capacity iPhones and iPads

I found what little of the first ad I watched to be more than just in bad taste but quite disturbing. How would one feel if the likeness their deceased loved one was used in this way. Has our culture really become this desensitized?

What a cheap shot indeed!

Not a fan of the ad. If that is supposed to be Steve Jobs, distasteful.

Also, the impression I got from it is, "Okay, there's nothing really new with the new iPhone. Um okay. Why should I buy your product?" I hate how all these companies (and politicians during campaign season) use attack ads to make their opponents look bad, but don't explain why people should use their product instead.

Also, if that was Steve, wouldn't he have fired those two people for pitching such lousy ideas?

So they not only tried to represent a dead person who no longer leads Apple as leading Apple, but they represented the emaciated, dying-of-cancer version of Jobs. Ballmer wants to go out with class, I see.

As for the "it's so true" comments, this is the 5S. S models are always modest upgrades. This S is actually a much bigger deal than the 4S or 3GS. Alleged 5x speed increase, first 64-bit mobile proc on the market, fingerprint scanner which "just works" (which means they spent a LOT of hard work on it).

But sure, right, Apple is just treading water. Okay.

THANK YOU! Finally someone who knows the truth. I think everyone just likes to tear down Apple these days because its "fashionable".

At what point did Microsoft believe these ads to be lighthearted? They're not even funny. They're bad comedy in bad taste. Makes Microsoft look pathetic and cheap.

It's good that they've taken them down, but lets face it they didn't do that because they're genuinely sorry. They took them down because they realised they had posted their own bad publicity and the adverts wouldn't gain them any custom.

Hmm...unfunny as the ad is, Apple did bitter and vindictive first with the "Mac Vs PC" adverts

Nah, no they didn't. You couldn't be more wrong. Microsoft isn't even promoting their own product here, they are just talking crap and insulting Apple's customers. The Get a Mac ads talked about the current issues with Windows (which was 100% spot on) and gave good reasons why a Mac would be a good choice.
Microsoft is going down. The iPad trade-in program plus these ads show they can't innovate, they are desperate, they are scraping the bottom of the barrel at last attempts to get that loser Surface into the hands of anyone who cares and trying to force Windows 8 down people's throats and that's just rude. And here's the funny part, while Microsoft is trying so hard to screw over Apple, Apple's default search engine on iOS 7 is now BING. Go figure.

Bah, I remember when Apple aired all those commercials on TV bashing MS with the MS guy... MS should have left them up, Apple needs a little bashing to maybe put a spark under them to actually innovate again.

Hmmm…… Where have I heard this before?!

Microsoft saying "our friends from Cupertino" reminds me of politicians saying "my good friend on the other side of the isle". In other words, two first class bs-ers!

Oh yeah, exactly, just as Microsoft "Innovates" right? GTFOH.

Are you saying that they're not available to buy?

That's exactly what he/she is saying. They are only available on Pre-order. Won't be available to take home or even be shipped to until the 20th.
