From Steve Jobs interview from 1995:

"The only problem with Microsoft is they just have no taste, they have absolutely no taste and I don't mean that in a small way I mean that in a big way. They don't think of original ideas and they don't bring much culture into their product."

"I have a problem with the fact they just make really third rate products."

That is, a little bit and nothing to lose sleep over. Some of the offence being taken by certain fanboys is nothing short of comical.

It would be vindictive IF they made some sort of issue of his cancer. They didn't.

Ahh, the fanboy comments. When you have nothing it always reverts to calling people "fanboys." Disappointing.

But I see you agree that Microsoft was portraying a sickly Steve Jobs despite, wink wink, calling him "Tim". If I were a Microsoft 'fanboy' I'd be very disappointed with them for doing something so crass. Apple should be held to the same standards too.

No offense was taken from this ad. It was too pathetic, even without the Steve Jobs low blow. Just a bunch of FUD that enlightens no one.

I've been saying this for a while, but someone really needs to step in and take the "not apple" market in computers. Microsoft sucks so much, but there's nobody to take the desktop game from them so they survive. The company has been basing its operating system on the same code base since the 90s and everything they make it terrible (I'm biased as web developer). Honestly I'm shocked nobody has stepped up an done it right.

If you can't see the difference between these ads and the "Get a Mac" campaign, then you should not pursue a future in marketing

anyone who thinks this video is of "questionable taste" clearly either

1) does not know what questionable means
or
2) is looking to drive page views

this video wasn't funny or good but it certainly is not of questionable taste.

People's problems aren't with the silly video, it's with the blatant Steve Jobs look-alike in the video. All the crap they're saying is typical competitor-bashing, but if they wanted to make the guy look like Tim Cook, they failed.

Also, it's irrelevant if your opinion isn't the one shared by those who find this video to be in "questionable taste" because ... like so many other things in life ... people have differing viewpoints. Just because you don't feel it's in poor taste doesn't mean other people are wrong. That is your opinion. Nothing more.

I actually find your attack on MS's trade-in program to be pathetic. While I'm no blind supporter of Microsoft (nor an Apple fanboy despite having Apple devices for my phone and computers), I fail to see why you think MS is being pathetic. You do realize that car companies do this all of the time, right? In fact, I would venture to guess that you yourself may have done this in the past (ie, traded in a car of Brand X for credit towards a car of Brand Y). Would you consider Chrysler, Ford, Audi, or BMW to be "embarrassing themselves" for accepting trade-ins?

Feel free to criticize MS for their poor ads, but if you're going to call a trade-in program pathetic, at least use some common sense and realize that in the real world, this is an acceptable / viable strategy. Or at least explain why it's pathetic for MS but not pathetic for other companies.

LMAO, this an "APPLE ENTHUSIASTS" forum and you're annoyance and high defense by what I said about Microsoft's trade-in program being pathetic is nothing short of laughable and it makes you appear as an employee of MS.

MS's trade-in program completely differs from car companies. (I just love when people always use the car analogies,) Car companies allow any car for trade-in. Although I guess Maserati probably might raise an eyebrow towards someone trading in their old Ford Pinto. ;) Microsoft is specifically asking for iPads only. It shows they are threatened by the iPad and are trying to take it off the market. Unless I'm mistaken but is Honda telling the public to only trade-in your Toyota? Of course not.
Oh, did I miss something that Microsoft is also asking for Android tablets in their announced trade-in program? I didn't see that.
If you don't want any Microsoft attacking, go to Microsoft Enthusiasts forum. It's enough that Apple gets bashed here daily on an Apple Enthusiast site.

Here's proof that Apple fans tend to be arrogant.

Just for the record, if you look at the Nokia Lumia 1020 (A Windows Phone for the record) has a camera that far surpasses any iPhone with 41 Megapixels. It's processor is also faster than that of the iPhone 5, being 1.5GHz instead of the 5's 1.2GHz. Not to mention the Lumia supporting Wireless Charging and having an ultra sensitive touchscreen so you can use it through gloves.

When I look for a phone, I look for functionality and the best camera. You clearly only care about appearance. Use your final short sentence for yourself.

All you hardware spec guys just don't get it.

Imagine if you installed an astro turf football field at the local high school. Then, the rival high school was like " HAY! LOOK AT HOW ****ING BIG OUR LAWN MOWERS ARE!"

Wouldn't you be like "why on earth am I interested in how big your lawnmower's engine is? I have astro turf..."

You are the guy listing off lawnmower stats.

Nobody cares

What the hello was that? You just destroyed your argument!

What did you think I meant? You're getting defensive about that one word? Please. You know that Apple is going about things that people don't want them to go and yet here you said Apple can do no wrong and know exactly what people want.

Really? Back to multi-colors? Why would you defend a company that spoon feeds BS?

So what phone IS innovative? Sure the Lumia 1020 has a great camera and yes, the GS4 has a big screen. But are those features innovative?

What about Touch ID? What about the new camera features like the True Tone Flash? Or the A7 with 64-bit and awesome graphics? Eh, MAYBE True Tone Flash is innovative, but the rest of those things aren't.

Ultimately the iPhone is a great package, but so are many of its competitors. That's why they're competitors.

The type of innovation that everyone says Apple doesn't have any more doesn't exist anywhere else either. It takes a long time to come up with that stuff. What the hell do you people want?!

Bigger screen + all day battery. Which is technologically feasible. Apple is just clinging to new form once every two years, really setting them backwards.

I disagree completely.

Really? On which part? During the iOS7 keynote Apple demoed Siri returning web results using BING. You disagree with that? MS's little (what they thought was funny) video showed no Microsoft product being compared to Apple. You disagree with that?
Apple wasn't talking about features that would benefit consumers on a Mac?

If you disagreed with any of that then prove me wrong rather than just saying, "I disagree completely".

I noticed you were just as defensive towards two other forum members when it comes to Microsoft. Wonder why??? Hmm... Maybe I should I go "visit" a Microsoft Enthusiasts forum and go to bat for Apple and see what kind of responses I would get...

----------

There is nothing wrong with that video.

Obviously it is or Microsoft themselves wouldn't have taken it down. ;)

Ha ha - love it!

Honestly what is all the fuss about? Steve Jobs and Bill Gates we well known to be good friends but still with a competitive streak. Microsoft and Apple go WAY back, they have always had the odd good humoured jab at each other - remember the 'I'm a PC, I'm a Mac' adverts that Apple ran?

Microsoft even bailed Apple out when they nearly went bump before the 'glory' era pre Jobs' return.

The point is these companies have always done these things against each other, as have other companies that operate in similar industries (e.g coke and pepsi!).

The MS slagging speak volumes about the person getting upset about rather than anything else.

And as for the Samsung lovers calling Microsoft - do you even remember Samsung did EXACTLY the same thing with the original iPhone 5 came out?

Get a grip you people - or at least a sense of humour! :p

I gotta agree with the ad. What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months? But unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.
The smartphones have hit an innovation plateau. If you keep expecting for another truly innovative iPhone you're just preparing yourself for another disappointment. That said the new iPhone 5S is a pretty darn impressive phone if you ask me.

People see Steve Jobs in the video because they want to. I wonder how many people noticed that it was actually the back of head shots of 2 different men?

You just created an account just to say all of that huh? You couldn't be more off base with that nonsense you wrote.

This ad really wasn't about attacking only Apple per say , it's a direct insult to Apple's customers. But I guess you were too busy trying to put us in our place here to really view the video.

Do you ever do your homework first before registering new accounts on forums to post about things? Microsoft didn't "Bail" Apple out. They settled out of court with Apple from anti-trust suit which MS would've been found guilty. Sure, Apple used the money to get back on their feet but it certainly wasn't a gift to help Apple out. Don't you think it's stupid for Microsoft to "Bail" Apple out then spend the last 10 years trying to bring them down? Yeah. Think before you post please? But I guess you were hoping nobody really knew that here.

The point is do your homework first before registering on forums just to post nonsense. ;)

No, it looks like Steve Jobs during his cancer battle. And Steve always wore a black shirt and jeans religiously ... and the character in question is wearing a black shirt. So whether they intended it to be Steve or not, they failed on several levels.

As for your other comment, I'm pretty sure 100% of the people that watched this know the other character is portraying Jony Ive. It isn't a mystery there were two different men in the video.

I love apple and I think the iphone 5s is a great phone, but that has to be one of the most biased, terrible articles I have ever read. Literally every time they mention anything not apple, they immediately criticize it. If your going to get a source saying that the iphone 5s is innovative, then at least get it from a nonbiased reliable source.

Exactly. Just creating controversy where none really exists.

Hell, at first I thought the fat guy was supposed to be Ive.

Microsoft gave this statement to The Next Web: "The video was intended to be a light-hearted poke at our friends from Cupertino. But it was off the mark, and we've decided to pull it down."

I don't get it. How can they be so out of touch with everything?

Out of touch with innovation.
I could understand them not knowing how society would react to videos like this, but they aren't making awesome products, where their efforts should be focused.

I am tired of Microsoft sucking.

I don't understand it either.

Why would Microsoft waste one ounce of energy on making these videos?

Windows Phone needs all the help it can get right now... so why would they make a commercial that doesn't even feature their own products?

OMG OMG OMG! He's wearing a black shirt!

How.. DARE.. they.

Someone needs to relax a bit.

Just how responsive do you need the internal memory to be if you are playing back video footage, or music, or anything else.

I have never found the use of an SD card on a device to make anything unresponsive in any way.

Apps and system launching. Playing back HD video real-time also can't be done on SD cards sometimes. What device were you using that had nothing but an SD card as its drive?
