I gotta agree with the ad. What the hell has Apple been doing the last 6 months? But unfortunately, the iPhone 5C/S will not flop. People will once again line up in droves. I don't understand it. They're not bad phones, but their not innovative.

For whom would "innovative" be a buying criteria? Quality, features, ease of use, battery life, available apps, price, availability, cachet, styling... buying criteria. Innovative... not buying criteria.

They call him Tim, people interpret that as Steve.

Some people just want to be butt hurt. It wasn't in bad taste like the headline suggested, and it wasn't nearly as funny as MS hoped. Overall it just felt bland and desperate to me.

But the sheer attention it's getting from this forum and apple evengelists like daring firecrotch fireball is giving it way more traction than it would have had on its own.

That means the Apple community at large was just successfully trolled by Microsoft. MS takes down the video after it makes its rounds and sits back to watch as the apple community poisons their own forums (45 pages and counting!) and propagates the video on their own.

Brilliant, except it didn't accomplish anything in the end for MS. It's kind of like farting on someone's pillow when you really want to punch them in the nose.

Very bad taste

this is the last resort from a company who has no taste, creativity and the passion to do the right things.

I feel your pain, Mate. I know how these mean words can hurt. :(

I'm here for you...

(Billing will follow)

But it doesn't feel as heartfelt if I have to pay for it, Shrink (never thought I'd be saying that again this week).

Though honestly, judging from some of the reactions we've been seeing in this thread, I think your skills and talents would be put to better use elsewhere around here. :p

That character they call "T" or Tim is clearly supposed to be Steve Jobs.

These ads are just dumb. Nothing clever about them. Now it's just getting bitter, vindictive, and desperate for Microsoft. It's sad really.

I just bought an Windows Phone to lay in my drawer, so they would just pleeease stop vining for a day or 2 at Microsoft

As sad as someone who is *obviously* not an Apple fan coming to an Apple fan site to troll?

Is it an Apple "fan site", or an Apple discussion site?

By your logic, anything other than total and absolute approval and support of everything that Apple does, or produces, constitutes trolling.

Interesting definition...

You can't change the premise or logic will lead you to the wrong conclusion. Clearly.

Anything that gets Apple of their lazy @$$. I mean WTF? Seriously they consider the 5s an upgrade? I've been a loyal Apple fan for a while now, and I'm seriously pissed off. I like the fact that Microsoft took a jab and that Apple shares dropped. Not because I wish ill will, but because they might get off their lazy @$$e$ and start innovating again. I used to be excited when new iPhones would come out. I'm tried of Apple making users look like idiots to Android users. Yeah, it shouldn't matter what others think, but it always feels like Apple takes 1 step forward and 2 steps backward. Even Phil Schiller looked like he was struggling to sell it to the audience because of how lame it was. /endrant

How fast we forget apple making fun of Microsoft, but when its the other way around ,
The video is funny for sure!
Plastic phone, WOW, camera 15% better, WOW
Apple is not apple with out Steve, I do own and will at least for the next few years buy iPhone, but I'm not head over hill as I used to be about their products, sadly.

It is an upgrade, in much the same way that the current Macbook Pro is an upgrade from last years.

A lot of people are still expecting the huge leaps in design and functionality we were seeing back around 2007-2010, and, barring a few rare exceptions, that's just not gonna happen anymore. The mobile market has started to mature, the same way the PC scene did back during the turn of the century. It's all about incremental speed boosts and updates these days, with a few nice extra features thrown in when they become small enough or affordable enough.

In other words, the days when you'd upgrade your phone every year to get the absolute latest killer features are long over. It's something you'll do every 2-3 years now. From that perspective, the 5S is a great phone for someone coming from an iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, or 4S. But if you currently have the 5, it's just not worth it.

Very good post! It surprises me how the media and folks in general think that a company can whip out earth shattering products year after year. No other company is doing it, but since Apple done it a few years back they have this expectation set. Let's face it, phones are tapped out. The only huge changes you will see going forward until a major breakthrough will be design, battery, and feature bloat. Funny thing too is the fact that the S upgrade cycle has always been a slight increase over previous models.

Major innovation now has to come from different areas like TV, game consoles, and wearable technology and maybe others we haven't thought of like in car technology.

Renz that was well written and I'd have to agree with you. I'm just throwing a hissy fit because I expect more. I do see the incremental upgrades and have always stated to others this is the case with the "s" models. I just feel like there could have been "one last thing". :D

This is a real ad that MS put out? .... Really? It is so horribly done and the acting is horrible!
This just looks, well, as retarded as MS is these days...
