The Choice section is laughable too. Can't you get bluray drives for macs, they're just not natively supported nor internal?

Yeah, sure. But what good are they when you cannot watch movies with them because there is no (legal/authorized) software for it?

Anyway. We should get used to the idea that Apple sees its future in mobile devices and not in the Mac. And you know what? They're right.

There are 5 kinds of people:

People who have a PC and would get a Mac if they had the money,
People who have a PC or Mac and don't really care about computers.
People who have a Mac and don't do anything other than open safari.
People who have a PC and actually get real work done.
People who have a PC because they play real video games instead of gimped mac versions.

Windows 7 did some pretty awesome stuff. Lets take driver repositories. Virtually any device you plug in to your PC running Windows 7, Windows Update in the background, downloads the driver your Machine. OSx doesn't do this. Sure they have some simple drivers that would allow you to print a word document.

Also Windows has a MUCH better API structure than OSX. Drivers work better on PC than they do on Mac because the PC is more open. Games run faster. Programs are more optimized.

well stated

Nope, there are only 3:

1. Mac owners
2. PC users who want to have a Mac but can't afford one
3. PC users who don't see an advantage of owning a Mac

It's that simple. Note that a LOT more people from #1 use Windows than do group #3 use Macs.

Mac OS X comes with most drivers and if device requires specific drivers it comes bundled with them. For example 3G, Wimax modems and so on.

Also Windows has a MUCH better API structure than OSX.
So you are developing for both platforms for at least few years right?

Drivers work better on PC than they do on Mac because the PC is more open.

For example? The ony ones i know for sure are graphics drivers.

Games run faster.
Sadly.

Programs are more optimized.

Nonsense.

I think its great that Microsoft i finally taking shots at Apple :p, There are lot of positives in when it comes to PC's. I've never understood why I haven't seen it in the past.. If I were to make a PC vs Mac ad It would really make people think :p.. It would be something like this : Core i7 Mac 27" Screen All In One or Core i7 PC 42" LCD Screen :p because believe it or not, you could build a PC with a massive LCD screen and higher specs for less... Only drawback is not all in one.. Or to some Windows 7..

Yes you could. And wouldn't your lovely blocky 1920 x 1080p desktop resolution look good on that size screen.

A lot of the comments in this thread are ludicrous. I was a Mac user for about 8 years and last year I switched to a windows based PC. I built the PC myself, with my choice of hardware and my choice of case. I switched because after using Windows 7 on a mac via bootcamp I realised just how much windows had improved over previous version (which I admit were pretty poor, the reason I went to mac) but windows 7 has been very very stable. Its been very fast and I find it far more usable then OSX in a massive way.

I experienced more crashes on macs then I have experienced on my PC, which has been so stable its laughable that people call them unstable. Not one BSOD, not one full system lock up. Granted programs have crashed, but don't try and even pretend you havn't had applications crash.

I don't dislike macs, infact, my parents use my old iMac and I still think its a great machine, and I personally own an iPhone and an iPad. But please, so many users on here need to get there head out of there arse. It constantly sounds like your trying to justify your purchase. If you prefer the mac then thats great, but don't jump on the "omg PC's are **** look at my cool mac, im so cool" bandwagon. It's boring, shows just how clueless so many users are about technology and makes me feel embarrassed for you.

Granted I need to run an Antivirus on my PC, but I just run MSE and apply actual common sense to my computer usage (as in don't download that email called freeporn.exe) and I've yet to have a virus at all. In terms of security... its actually pretty laughable that OSX is always the first to go down in the Pwn2Own competitions, as well as any mac software such as the safari browser (chrome it up people) which I only discovered in the past few weeks.

If you are happy with your macs, thats great, they are great machines. Just leave out the "im so superior" attitude.

Haven't seen kernel panic on my iMac and MacBook. Yes it's possible to build good PC if you know what you are doing that said only very few people do this. So in general crappy hardware + crappy drivers = Windows BSOD. I even get BSODS caused by WHQL signed drivers, the ones that should be good.

PC vs Mac "campaign ads" is very hilarious and entertaining. But i think the winner is the consumer who really feels the importance of technology in these modern time.

I dont think Windows V Apple should be a competition.

If your an intelligent user, you will use the best tools for the job it does not matter who makes them.
In some cases it might be Windows PC in others Mac. Windows 7 is fine now, Mac OSX works as always. Neither is perfect.

I have a Mac for work and have a PC for when I need programs that are still not made for Macs (and there are plenty of them). To have to run windows on a virtual machine is nuts, why not have windows to start with. On the other hand Macs do give you a hassle free life.

There is also a big gap in price from a windows to a Mac PC. Win PCs do offer more for the money whichever way you look at it. Either way I think you will be happy with your choice. Just dont limit yourself and keep an open mind.

If you have a lot of money and can afford to cater for all your whims then consider yourself lucky, many people dont and the ones that dont need to be impartial, objective, sensible and get the most for the buck.

Fully agree with you. None is perfect, but what we all can hope for is that the competition is driving them to achieve perfection.

Competition is a good thing for consumer choice.

Without it complacency & apathy towards the consumer can settle.

As long as the two of them are trying to out 'better' each other, the consumer ends up with improved product.

People who have a PC and would get a Mac if they had the money,
People who have a PC and don't really care about computers
People who have a Mac.

Most people don't care much, like all those who keep asking "does the internet work on Macs?" and stuff like that. For them, computers are a challenge but they just make do with what they have.

The best part of your post is: SENT FROM MY IPOD SHUFFLE...

now that's a feat!!!

It seems no person wants to answer the questions I have asked previously about Windoz. Here they are again.

1. How does one make a copy / image of what is on the screen?

2. Is it possible to make a pdf file of a document such as of a banking site?

3. Are files and folders dragged and dropped to move / copy them to another location?

1) Print Screen button copies the whole screen to the clipboard. Alt-Print Screen copies just the active Window.

2) I know Microsoft Word has a PDF export option, but it has to be downloaded. Don't worry. It's free. Can't say the same for Word. I suspect there must be other programs that will do it.

3) Yes. In fact, right-dragging of a file to a different location gives the explicit option of move vs. copy.

I had a go at the tool came up with the Sony Vaio Z.

Does look so tasty bar the operating system, that said I havent seen 7 in motion. I've been waiting to pull the trigger on a new MBP 13" for college to see if there's an update due or a new Air but that Sony looks and sounds the business. I'll still end up with an MBP though.

Sharing documents and spreadsheets.

If you use Apple's productivity suite, sharing files with PC users can be tricky. Your documents might not look right and your spreadsheets might not calculate correctly

--> lol, M$ quoting your document might not look right or the spreadsheets might not calculate correctly.... that's funny

and this made laugh as well...
"On a Mac, you have to manually set up photo sharing, "
--> oh yeah, i'd realy like M$ to share all my stuff without me knowing about it... :D

Not to mention the hundreds of people who spout that ************ about Macs being unable to get a virus.

If you are suggesting Mac OS X has gotten some viruses, please provide a link. Malware which requires user-intervention (read: admin username and password) has popped up, but nothing self-propagating.

The point is that Macs are not immune to viruses. As more users begin to use the Macintosh operating systems I can guarantee you that viruses for this operating system will become more prevalent.

Take even a basic statistics class and you will realize this still fails. Are you in college yet?

In fact, malware has been slowly on the rise and self-propagating viruses still don't exist, unless you finally found that link for us.

The point is that if you don't run an antivirus on your Windows you're doomed to get into trouble; most likely big trouble.

Safari on OS X indeed gets hacked at Pwn2Own (always by the same guy who spends a lot of his time looking for security holes in Apple devices, hell, that's even what he does for a living!), in the sense that a hacker could remotely take control of a Mac with administrator privileges if the user goes to some hypothetical webpage that runs some specific code. The same can be done on other browsers running on Windows.

But the notion that there is no such thing as a Virus for Mac remains valid, the main reason being that the architecture of Mac OS X is UNIX rock-solid and prevents the typical behavior of a Windows virus of replicating itself in the background.
