Edit: Looks like it simply overwrites them.

When installing, does it automatically delete the beta apps or do I need to go through and do that manually?

Been using the beta and Outlook keeps crashing, especially on El Capitan .... Hopefully, this doesn't happen on Yosemite.

Edit: Nevermind - you do need to download the release via your Office 365 account!

Orig Post:
Do I need to install the real release? Or should me beta update to it?
I have 365 so not sure!
Beta won't update to it. I just tried. Had to sign in to my 365 account and download the full installer.

I totally agree, I've been using it since beta 1 as my main office when possible, it was not ready on the latest beta, maybe they've done a lot of work to it!

Agreed. The latest beta was absolutely terrible, and not much there in terms of functionality beyond what is in 2011.

Agreed! Been running the betas since release and they are far too unreliable/buggy. I have my doubts as to whether they actually fixed everything considering I've had crashes with the most up to date beta.

You two may have just saved me a lot of time and frustration today. Big Thank You!

i can't help feeling sorry for people who need features that are not in the iWork apps and therefore need Microsoft still.
7 bucks a month is a steep price to pay for the rest of your lives.
I pay the $9.99 a month and think it is worth it. I get unlimited cloud storage and so do four other of my friends/family. That and having the FULL and latest versions of Office on Mac and PC, its a small price to pay. Considering that the full Office suite used to run into a few hundreds of dollars per licence, I think this is a steal.

iWork? Seriously? Is _anyone_ doing any real work in that suite? Maybe the guys that miss Corel then. Numbers is a sad excuse for a spreadsheet, Pages is a mildly pimped version of TextEdit and Keynote, well, it used to be good, nowadays it's pretty mediocre. Good for you if you can live with them, I'd break down in a week...

Installed it, seems fine. Its nice to have similar Office suites across Windows, OS X and iOS and all of them talking to OneDrive. Glad i'm a student and consequently have Office 365 for the next 4yrs.

Haven't used a text editor in years. LaTeX is the best and doesn't screw up my formatting.

When I need a spreadsheet or keynote, I'll just use Apple's tools.

Wonder when they will release the version for those stuck using an exchange server. I have a huge mailbox at work, and 2011 is an total dog. 2016 made a huge improvement in the beta.

I tried using mail.app but it still sucks with exchange :(

Going to hold back before pulling the trigger, to see what the general view of things is.

Currently running Office 2010 off Win 7 in Parallels, so works well enough – but cannot get MS Outlook setup with my enterprise account, possibly due to it being run virtual.

If the new Mac 2016 is good, will take the plunge.

Same here. Have been waiting forever. Usually after Service Pack 3, it's probably usable.
Let's wait for the reviews of the usual suspects.
If one needs 365 to get this, no go!

Exchange SUCKS no matter what you use with it. Probably the worst mail system ever designed. Did't get traction until they practically gave it away with Office.

OK, maybe I'm "old school", but I like the fact that I own the stand-alone v. of MS Office 2011 for Mac. I also like owning my music in iTunes. If I want a streaming service I'll sign on for the free version of Spotify and listen to some commercials. That has worked fine for me. For 95% of what I do with MS Office, I can do it for free on my iPad with MS Office apps, otherwise I use the 2011 version on my Mac. I know that Streaming Services and Subscription software reflect the current trends, but I believe it's worthwhile to own my software.

Scrolling in word is back to being very jerky (for some docs and for some it is marginally smooth). It was actually much better in the preview version. Clearly MS has not been reading our feedback.

I use Word at work heavily, and all I can say is ABOUT DANG TIME. Not that they've really added that much functionality, but I'm sick of using an app that looks as dated as Office 2011 does.

Also, I'm cautiously optimistic that this one won't crash when you open up more than five or six documents.

I can see (and download it) from my college Office 365 portal, but it gets stuck here when I try to sign in. I think at some point the same thing was happening to the iOS apps.

EDIT: randomly worked now. weird.
