The fanboys in this thread reek.

Apple has been doing these types of ads for years, spouting misinformation and pandering to the uninformed.

Stereotypically picking on PC's as a "middle aged overweight white man". Gosh, I am a Mac fan but I thought the Ads were classless.

Microsoft took the bigger stand, laughed and say yeah ... Apple is small change.

All of a sudden when Microsoft starts going on the offensive, and only presents the FACTS fanboys cry?

lol.

Of course "Giampaolo" is forbidden by NDA from discussing what he thinks about his new HP laptop post-purchase (and the "wonderful" Windows experience it provides). Why so scared, Microsoft?

Newsflash: Top Ramen is cheaper than a steak at a good restaurant. Hence, everyone should eat Top Ramen and shun good restaurants. Right Winbots who are trolling this forum?

My money goes for Apple hardware. Because I'm worth it.
Your "newsflash" is completely wrong. Apple are overpriced because their hardware is under-specd when you can get a normal PC, with better hardware and cheaper.

Who said the computer would have to have Windows on it, if you're looking to buy a PC? What if you want to have a Mac but not pay the extra money for the hardware? What if you just get a PC to run a hackintosh or Linux?

Putting a $600 laptop with Linux on it, let's say, to a $1,000+ Macbook - the $600 "PC" would probably be faster than the $1,000+ Macbook, because generally you can get better hardware for cheaper if you're buying a PC, compared to an Apple computer. That's what people mean by "Macs are overpriced".

I love OS X, but I'm not going to get another Apple computer unless the prices change considerably. These Microsoft commercials will definitely help this.

Pretty poor idea on the whole.

"Microsoft, because you can't afford anything better"

Not surprised. After all, Microsoft wants to put other companies out of business. Like what they are doing with Sony. >.>

but the customer in this add was looking for power.... so he was probably a user who wanted descent screen real estate and quality.... so therefor the screen resolution isn't that great.

plus he seemed to take graphics as quite important which would also mean he would be in need of a good screen..... good graphics with a bad screen is a waste of time and money

Screen resolution has NOTHING TO DO with computing POWER.

He could have gotten an external monitor that did 1920x1200, then what?

Except, as we've been saying all this time, these ads to not advertise a Microsoft product. At all. No mention of Windows or Vista or Office.

Now you're just beginning to sound trollish.
The last 5 seconds of the ad have a giant Windows splash screen...

It's pretty funny, this thread and the last one were just one big example of how sad apple fans are.

Its because Apple actually compared operating systems. Microsoft is going after price, without stating any facts about either OS.

They are saying "Macs have all the price with no hardware to back it up." Which really isnt a fact.

There are no facts at all about Microsoft in here, which is funny because it is a Microsoft commercial.

The person who made the analogy to "my wife has a mitsubishi, a perfectly fine car but wants a mercedes" is completely false.

A mercedes has OBJECTIVELY better specs, more horsepower, better interior, better exterior (HID lights, etc etc).

The PC has OBJECTIVELY better specs than the Mac.

So in that case, the Mac is the mitsubishi and the PC is the mercedes. Doesn't help your case.

I'm willing to bet that this bozo in the ad has a six pack of Coca-cola in his fridge right now.

We all buy things because of branding. Thats why the companies spend so much on advertising.

Well said, I mean there's a reason people pay a 1000 dollars for a gucci bag when they can go to Wal-mart and get a bag for 20 dollars, after all they are bags. Why do people pay more for Windows when Linux is cheaper?

I strongly doubt that the ads will change Apple's pricing one iota. As a quoted in the other commercial thread, lets look at the stock prices of Apple compared HP:

Apple: 115.99
HP: 34.15

Clearly, despite the price differences, Apple is making money hand over fist. If they company is this profitable, it is very doubtful they would sacrifice their carefully crafted image for a few points of market-share.

It's the majority of the iMAC generation who give technical people a bad rap for liking Macintosh.

Please, just stick to the facts and don't be so defensive. Some of you are worser than *nix distribution fanboys.

I don't think they've ruined it at all.

Suddenly 'I'm a PC' has become cool, modern, worldwide, friendly etc... - the words are no longer seen as negative.

Not to mention the fact that Apple will be promoting Microsoft's "I'm a PC" slogan in every future ad they make.

Clever MS.

politely suggest to your friend that he should stop download and jerking off to porn so often, and possibly to go see a psychiatrist. maybe then he won't have a need to format his computer every few months.

my computers and laptops don't need to be formatted, and never run slow because of the way i use them. you just can't apply such blanket statements on everyone saying that a pc will need to be reformatted often.

Well that was COMPLETELY relevant wasn't it.

One of the points the person was making is that Mac OS X has a more efficient was of running, and windows can become more inefficient over time

Apple is in the hardware business if you hadn't noticed..

Microsoft's attacks were warranted.

"Im a PC and I'm picky."

Thats clever. =]

I always thought people bought Macs because they were picky and actually cared if they got a good computer or not..

Microsoft's approach now is a little different. "Windows without walls" means connectivity and compatibility. It wants to reach everybody, not letting anyone out. Those who want price and those who want power are equally happy with a PC. And Windows is the glue which connects everyone. It's a wise strategy.

What's the point of getting a laptop that requires you to purchase another external display in order to utilize the power of its graphics card? If that's the case, then throw in the price of the display and add it onto the laptop. Your argument is ridiculously flawed and childish.

Yes, that's true.

Microsoft is punching Apple again. And it's really got some good points. First, it was price. Now, it's the configuration. You can choose any configuration you want on a PC. But you can't on a Mac. I've got a white MacBook which is good, but it has features which are useless for me. I'd happily change the Bluetooth, the FireWire port and the N-wireless for more HD space or a dedicated graphics card. But Apple won't let me do that and I'm getting really frustrated of having to pay for features that I don't want.

Those kinds of components cannot be changed on a laptop. Any laptop. From any brand. Laptops aren't fully upgradeable like desktops.
The things you can upgrade on most laptops are RAM and HDD. That can be done on any MB or MBP.
Laptops that allow you to change GPUs, etc, are normally 19" to 21" desktop replacements.

The only advantage MS has is that a LOT of brands are making PCs that run Windows but you mostly get the same hardware specs with a different brand/design.
