The bottom two pictures look very similar to what happened with my iMac once when I brought it out of sleep mode. It was a green and magenta Matrix-style pattern of garbage and if I moved the mouse to a certain place I could see about 200 garbled mouse pointers at once. Held the power button for 10 seconds and forced a reboot. So what - it's hi-tech, sh*t happens and it's a wonder it works most of the time. If your argument against PCs is one video driver crash, you should probably read up on the fifty-twelve people who have reported weird video artifacts and spontaneous shutdowns on MBPs.
so did u just purposely ignore the part where he said windows doesn't boot? That means he obviously did a restart, several at least.

It's funny that the ads ride on the ignorance of average consumers.
I don't know if it is smart or if it is an insult.

The analogy does not work cause a Ford focus does not share the same underlying components as a BMW 320.

If you want and equivalent motoring equivalent try this.

Second Generation Impreza WRX and the Saab 9-2X. The Saab 9-2X is an impreza with with a modified body, suspension, and interior and higher $$$$ for people who do not want to be seen in a cheap Japanese model. They much prefer European styling and classy interior and are willing to pay more for that. While the guts are the same. You also much better customer service etc etc etc. Though people who know cars, know they can save heaps and just get themselves and impreza. You average car buyer would have no idea that Saab is infact an impreza.

There is nothing in common between a BMW 320 and a Focus ST. That is why I am saying stick to Computers in these discussions casuse people are way way off with the cars they are quoting. Nothing has been even close.

So lets stick to computers guys...
Ah yes, the 9-2X. The one they never dared sell in Sweden because it wasn't a real Saab.

No, I just missed it, but let's revise:

The world's most successful computer manufacturer, HP, makes total junk, and this is how they became #1. Better?

Giampaolo may not be a SAG actor however Lauren is an actress and if she is indeed a member of SAG she has to be paid the prevailing rates.

Gizmodo calls her a "an LA-based, SAG-eligible actress."

A "National" is a windfall for struggling actors.

I'm Lauren, I'm A PC and I'm A Paid Actress!

BTW why don't you ask Giampaolo if he had to follow a script.

I'm sure a lot of us would like to know! ;)

Okay, I take back what I said about her before. She's damn cute.

Sigh. Many other people have seen the ad on Craigslist and responded to it. The ad agency did pose as a market research firm and said nothing about any acting job until they had picked out ten people and revealed that they were actually shooting a commercial. You think it's unlikely to stumble upon actors in that area?

And they can't just put up the ad and still hire actors instead of using the respondants ? And do you even have a link to this supposed ad or links to people who have links or screenshots of it ?

I'm not really sure what to make of this comment. Is it sarcasm or are you suggesting that Apple needs to start making crap to be number one (which they have no intention of being).

Again: What does it matter? If it's 100% staged, fine. If it's 100% real, fine. I just can't believe there are people who start the Spanish inquisition over a damn ad. It's an ad, why would you even expect it to be real to begin with?
This is only because it involves Microsoft... it makes you feel better somehow if you know that it's all a lie. You want them to be liars.

Or wait, were you interrogating Apple about the ad they did with Ellen Feiss? The drugged-up chick who had probably never used a Mac in her life, and probably never had any paper "devoured" by a PC that went "beep-beep-beep-beep? Let's get to the bottom of THAT one. We can't have ads that aren't real, dammit!

Well, I'm detecting a heavy dose of sarcasm there but that's just me...
HP are usually #3 in reliability rating, after Lenovo and Apple (or Apple and Lenovo, depending on which one holds the top spot any given month). I wouldn't be worried if I bought one of their high-end machines, which is what Macs should be compared to.

and on my other HP (same model)
it's CDROM stopped working after 4 months and i took it two time for repair

Well color me impressed. I'm not a fan of HP and think their consumer line of notebooks are cheap bargain bin stuff, but they actually did a decent job with their keyboard and trackpad positioning there. They centered the trackpad which I like. It's not shifted to the left between the G and H keys like other PC machines. They kept the CTRL key in the lower left (Apple is retarded for putting the Fn key there, and so is IBM/Lenovo among other PC companies). They have the arrow keys a reasonable size instead of the cramped arrow keys from Apple. And to top it all off, they managed to squeeze Home, End, PageUp, and PageDown on the extreme right side.

That may very well be the smartest trackpad and keyboard layout I've seen yet, edging out Apple and the Thinkpad keyboard by a hair. There may be hope for PCs yet.

Too bad the keys themselves look like cheap plastic, but at least it looks like it has a backlight too from that picture. As for the machine bugging out like that, tough luck. I've read stories about a woman who had to bring in her Macbook 10 times for service and other repair horror stories. Does that mean all Apple machines break down that often? Heck no. Some people get unlucky. Some like you get unlucky multiple times.

Wait wait wait wait wait!!!!

Actors on television?!?!?! Will even MS stoop this low? Those bastards.... How dare they use actors on television...

See? See how freaking stupid you all sound? Yeah.

Not me and DMann. We admire a hot actress when we see one.

When they state they are "real people" (clever wording, actors are still real people, but they dare not say "regular people") of course your bound to annoy some people when they find out actors are involved.

Nice use of "you all", doesn't insult the rational people at all right? Sure as hell isn't a violation of forum rules either...

Hum, because if it is staged 100%, then they are insulting your intelligence by saying it isn't ?
"Saying"? Where in the ad is there any claim that it's not staged?

Of course, you being a apple-hater, microsoft apologist wouldn't care about that.
Sure, "Apple hater". Let's go with that. Now excuse me while I lay out my two Mac Minis, an iMac, two Apple keyboards, three Mighty Mouses, five iPods and an iPhone 3G here on the table, I have to sit here and hate them for a while. It requires my full concentration. I hope they all attack eachother and DIE.

I'd like to see that, should you be able to make that happen. Sounds like a cool idea for a funny stop motion YouTube video. :D

Now there's a thought... I'd like to see the Shuffle take down the iMac 24" and the Touch crushing the iPhone between the two Minis. :)

Please quote the part of either ad where they say that these are true life candid stories.

"This is Lauren. She's looking for a computer...."

For some reason people are jumping to a conclusion that these ads are "reality", and then are enraged when they find out that there's some scripting. Nowhere in the ad does it say that this is candid reality.

It's like being upset if you find out that in the detergent commercial, the spaghetti sauce "accident" was in fact staged. Well, d'oh.

Need more information..... are we talking the old build like a truck keyboards or the new metal jobbies? If old school keyboard, put me down for a £10 on that one....it will cream the others!!!! fight fight....

I'm curious as to who would win. Surely not the POS mighty mouse :p

well of course not, let's not be ridiculous.

Now there's a thought... I'd like to see the Shuffle take down the iMac 24" and the Touch crushing the iPhone between the two Minis. :)

That all depends, which Shuffle? The current one would fail, for it has no directly mounted controls, thereby crushing its hopes of world domination.

two Mac Minis, an iMac, two Apple keyboards, three Mighty Mouses, five iPods and an iPhone 3G
...and a Par-tridge in a Pear Tree....... (rearrange the order, get another MM, KB, and you've got the makings of a hit holiday carol!)

I could have the two wireless MMs harrassing the wired one, but then the wired one turns around and whips them senseless, Indiana Jones style. Then it wraps the cable around one of the wireless MMs and starts beating the second wireless MM with the first one, saying "Stop hittin' yourself! Stop hittin' yourself!"

People are pissed cause the "Mac Store" was not next to a Starbucks.... no bloody realism in these ads!!!!! I for on an am outraged..... looking for the complaints line in the Microsoft site right now!!!

Btw anyone ever notice that there is no way to lodge a complaint on the Apple site? or am I missing something really obvious???
