I don't want to touch my laptop screen. I'm actually a bit obsessive about seeing dust and fingerprints on it. That feature doesn't appeal to me at all.

Agreed. I own an iPad, and have since they were first introduced. Over the years I have tried numerous keyboards, and ended up getting rid of them all. In some cases it was because the keyboards were poorly designed or constructed. But in all cases it was because it was extremely inefficient to pick my finger up off the keyboard and touch the screen. In fact, I have at times used the Citrix feature that allowed me to use my iPhone as a trackpad.

Another thing that Microsoft does more of. Plus viruses, Microsoft do viruses better.

Doesn’t appeal to me either but I’d rather have the choice to do both.

As it is, I prefer Apple hardware and software, have done for about 15 years now. Over time I’ve built up quite a collection of gadgets for myself and family but I will say though that my patience is wearing thin with the constant dumbing down, feature removal, nickel and diming etc etc.
I find that more and more of my time is spent with Windows now and I find it less awful/irritating than I used to. I’m just wondering if the rot has set in.

It's not a secret that Windows PCs "do more" although I doubt the average person is much aware of the differences. MS's marketing sucks. They sit and highlight differences that are mostly gimmicks besides the touch screen.

Macs tend to do the things (it can do) better besides gaming and it doesn't hurt that it has iphone services (not apps MS) baked in.

MS, you need to talk about gaming. You can't even get desktop graphics in a Mac. Talk about windows only programs. Change up your UI. Include an xbox controller with every PC. Get that metro crap out of windows. I put an SD card full of pics in a new PC and that worthless metro photos app opens. This is where MS fails.

I think bottom line, MS turned me off with windows 8 when they decided to add metro to it. I have to change almost every default program on a PC. I can only imagine what windows could have been without this focus. But they managed to chase away a lot of long time windows fans.

I love my awesome Windows 10 PC (it's my HTPC / gaming machine, using Steam controller). Fast, modern looking and zero problems. My main work computer is still MacBook Pro with the outdated Thunderbolt Display. Recently I was thinking about upgrading my display (the Thunderbolt display randomly switches off, hate the reflections and pathetic USB 2.0 ports and garbage bin webcam) and I realised there is NOTHING good form Apple. Today I can still buy the same exact old crap, with the same jacked up price. Everything Mac related is outdated and insanely overpriced. I've been seriously contemplating switching back fully to Windows (software I use daily, like Adobe CC, MS Office, Spotify, Chrome etc - everything is the same or better on Windows + you get hardware freedom).

Buggy.. the subtle relevance of Windows advertising.

Speaking of which: Apple ****ed up hugely just recently with a "silent update" which broke Ethernet connections! Huge epic fail, Apple!

Windows 10 definitively doesn't do that!

They don't do this though right?

You mean.... the current Mac kernel panic, triggered by the Firewall (due to Spotify sending network packets)?

Windows doesn't do this (kernel panic triggered by userland applications!). Apple ****ed up big here as well!

It is weird someone would use such anti-intuitive OS as Windows with awesome alternatives like the Mac. Even more, Mac OS X is free for everyone. Clearly, it is inertia (as was with DOS vs Mac). Once you try Mac, you never go back!

I have a MBP and a Surface Pro 4 and love them both. I love Windows and I love OS X. Too bad you most of you have blinders on. It's true, the inking and Windows Hello ARE awesome.

There's really barely any difference besides comestics nowadays. Both are super powerful and let the user get work down without the OS getting in the way. I do give the stability nod to OS X... my Surface Pro 4 has locked up 2 or so times since October and I think I've had maybe 5 lock ups on OS X in the 10 years I've been using it.

The latest data from market research firm Gartner revealed that worldwide PC shipments from Lenovo, HP, Dell, Asus, and Acer continued to decline in the fourth quarter. Apple was the sole manufacturer that saw positive shipment growth in the quarter, based on sales of 5.7 million Macs.

Nice throw in there. Apple still (worldwide) is at 6.7%. I am sure extremely profitable. But in the same time period - Windows machines made up close to 77 million units for the other 93.3% give or take. And it's not like standing still is going to do Microsoft or their OEMs any favors.

I updated my GFs PC to Windows 10.

The trackpad became unreliable, lagging and freezing, and everything became slower. The new Edge browser works less well than the installation of Explorer she already had from before.

It took me a whole weekend to make all issues less painful. The trackpad issue was 'fixed' by modifying the tolerance (in seconds!) of accidental touches on the trackpad! Something Apple does automatically to perfection.

LOL. Tim and Phil have you completely blinded. You’ve posted the evidence yourself.
Listen very carefully, 'There is NO such thing as free'. Especially when it comes to Apple. If you bought your Mac/iDevice new you have paid for the OS many times over rolled up in the hardware cost. If you bought second hand then it’s very likely then cost is included with the services.

I swapped from a Windows machine back in 2011, when i had my first Mac (the 2011 Macbook Pro) i also now have an iMac for home, i much prefer the Mac over Windows. They crash far less and since I've owned a Mac I've not had a single virus. I also think people love their Mac's where as people just use Windows machines because they don't look as good or operate as well as a Mac does. No amount of marketing by Microsoft will convince me to switch away from my Mac's.
