Well, no one who dies in a car crash is going to bring food to the table, that's for sure

Of course, Carplay itself is part of what's encouraging the problem, not just a MS Teams Carplay addon
Maybe we should ban having passengers in a car!? I can't see how talking to someone on the phone through hands-free is more distracting than people talking to you in the car its self..

Well yeah, I'd say that would make them a distraction as well. Maybe it's in their best interest to avoid talking while driving if it means reducing distractions for the driver, just like with a cellphone. If you have a good reason to be talking, then you could always pull over and park the car, just like with a cellphone.

To all those who don't think having Teams in the vehicle is a bad idea I ask you this: have you ever had a loved one die in an accident which was determined to be caused by distracted driving? (No, I didn't think so.). I did. My sister.
But she was old at the time. A whole 29 years of age.

Interesting feature.. only if my Lexus had carplay.. ( sigh )

You realize there are cars out there that get regular software updates, right? My car gets new apps and features every few weeks - I'm supposed to receive full self driving in the next 1-3 weeks.

I don't understand how it is that there are technically literate people (as I assume people in the MR forums to be) who opt to buy vehicles that are best on the day they're bought, when there are other vehicles that are better than anything else on day 1 and just proceed to get better from there.

I don't need Teams everywhere.

I log off of Teams all the time during the work day.

This constant connection crap needs to stop.

BEST line ever!

This is NOT a good idea to have this everywhere. It had BETTER NOT have an office like app interface and no need to show any video calls or content of the meeting on the screen.

This seems like a really really bad idea. On both a safety and psychological level.

Definitely on a psychological level, and for safety Microsoft UI team, Layers and the lead on this project better be kept in the same loop cause I smell class action lawsuits just waiting after major accidents or death occurs from it's use with poor design.

This is 1 area where Apple SHOULD step in upon release if the UI is that bad.

FINALLY! Now when I suddenly need to poop in the middle of a meeting I don't have to carry my laptop to the bathroom!

LMAO ... 2ND best line ... but I think if got much worse issues than detailing with the meeting itself. Honestly I'm curious how many iphones/android phones you've dropped into the lou so far? ;)

Have you tried slack? I find slack so much worse lol
What?

Slack is awesome! Have your admin kill off the useless bots, and use it for proper collaboration! its by far a VERY useful collaboration app - but do NOT tell your boss she/he can send you reminders of items on your queue from it.

You CAN mute all the chatter unless your name or a group you're in is specifically mentioned. Then minimize until such occurs ;)

Ooooh... this sounds nice.

Tesla and Microsoft should work on bringing Teams to Tesla's vehicles. As always, Tesla should avoid having Apple/Google's middleware crap in between - actual native apps made by a competent developer are far superior to CarPlay, which is like having a Mac run Remote Desktop to access Microsoft Office.
Agree. I really do hope that Tesla comes out with an App Store where we are able to select native apps like this as well as expand the streaming radio services (2018 Model S owner).

You do realize that up until 2019 Lexus did not include the ' hardware ' for carplay, or is that too ' technical ' ? If you're referring to Tesla or other EVs, my response as an auto enthusiast is - LOL !

It’s far from perfect but it’s a hell of a lot better than Skype for Business was...
skype for business was a POS!! glad we moved away from it!

Teams started out real nice.. but, in typical MS fashion, is now acting up with notifications and calendar sync across devices.. ugh.. oh well..

Also, as someone who works in cyber security... Teams .. is interesting ;)

That's a pretty irresponsible feature. I'd rather see them spend their energy in better collaboration features instead of luring people into start using teams while driving a car.
You realize it is no different than a phone call, WhatsApp call or FaceTime Audio call right? I don't hear a whole lot of complaining about them.

Right - Lexus is at least 7 years behind the competition. I realize their marketshare has had a steep decline, but how has it not gone to zero?

As a shareholder of the elephant in the room, I LOL at you considering yourself to be even remotely knowledgable about modern cars. You may as well be telling me about mustangs (the horse, although both are equally relevant to modern cars.)

I don't buy cars simply for their 'Tech'. Sitting here with a group of coders who'd rip your precious Tesla code a new one.. we're all having a ball reading your ignorance and limitations of software! LOL. You clearly have ZERO understanding of tech! ..Btw, I'd rather drive a mustang than a lifeless POS Tesla..

TEAMS is by far the worst product I am forced to use.
What would you rather use? Our organizations adoption of Teams right before the pandemic has been a huge stroke of luck. It's the best thing Microsoft makes right now. Really, really good for our meetings, collaborative Office editing, chats, and so on, all in one place.

Our previous solution was a network shared drive, Webex for presentations, Skype for chat and internal meetings, and outlook for email. That would have been frustrating, but Teams is like an all-in-one solution for work from home.

Cant say I've ever used Slack, though.

And I don’t understand how there are people that choose to buy extremely poor built cars with massive gaps, misaligned doors and panels, and runny paint straight from the factory.

tesla owners always thinking they are better than everyone else when they are still the new kid on the block and have so much to learn. Thanks for getting Ai driving off the ground, luckily I added it to my car with OpenPilot :)

We moved from Webex - Skype - Teams ( current ) and it's very well integrated with 365. We use it for chat, meetings, presentations, document sharing.. and works well with Planner as well.

Sad and an unfortunate consequence of this “me first” culture. On the same list as gun “rights” and mask “rights”.

Locking cellphones while in motion at >20mph would be simple to implement, but is inconvenient for passengers. Being killed by a distracted driver is also inconvenient.

This is actually good for work life balance. I can now more easily switch between office and car so I can leave the office earlier to attend sports training for my son.

I actually like Teams a lot!

The integration of the calls, chats, presentations with the ability to access and save files is perfect.

And not sure about the 2021 thing they mention, but I'm already able to transfer calls from my phone to my laptop seamlessly. It's pretty damn cool.

And while it isn't perfect, I use Teams with CarPlay. Iphone gives me a choice to show as Teams (on my phone) or act like a regular call. I always choose Teams and can even see the screen sharing on my phone while the call is going through CarPlay. Not while I'm driving of course, but it works well.

My condolences :( That is truly.. truly unfortunate!!!

Should I ever need to answer a call or call out, my car's BT + voice integration comes in handy! If I get a text, it gets read out thru BT and I can just as easily reply back ( if at all needed ) using voice, and without ever taking my eyes away from the road or being distracted in any way!

Plus, I actually enjoy *driving* my cars :)

I'm a huge proponent of the 2A, but that's completely off topic to this thread :)

Why? I participate in conference calls over teams when driving all the time. It's no different than a regular phone call. Being able to use Siri and having better CarPlay integration will only make it safer. It's not like they're displaying meeting content on the vehicle's display. My team is completely remote right now due to COVID and while Teams is not perfect, it has been very useful in keeping us all connected.

I think people are more concerned with the messages coming through. Data suggest that CarPlay messages are actually more distracting than texting and driving.
