Blizzard had already stopped releasing native Mac versions with Overwatch.
Blizzard has very few games that were updated to native. However that might change now as Microsoft also in invested into ARM based laptops, and their deal with Qualcomm exclusivity is set to expire soon according to online articles, allowing other chip manufacturers to try their hands making a viable ARM PC chip. Both Samsung, and MediaTek were named as active competitors. It would be lovely to see a ARM race of sorts away from x86 PCs if that happens. Right now most of the Mac based games from Blizzard are Intel version running under Rosetta 2, not updated.

xCloud works fine on Mac.
As long as you keeping paying the bill. I love to game but honestly don't have enough time to get my money's worth out of any subscription. I still to this day will play Starcraft a couple times a year. That does not justify a monthly cost for that "right".

I own a PS5 and I've played it maybe four five times since March? I mean don't get me wrong it's amazing and I really like Returnal but someone like me isn't going to subscribe to Playstation Now or Gamepass or any of the above.

Now if the cloud services are free and you buy games you stream similar to Vudu or Movies Anywhere then sure.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the circumstances in the USA of a company takeover / acquisition:
Does anyone here know what that means in terms of participation and decision-making rights from the Blizzard IP's and the company itself (layoffs, projects etc. ), who has the last word now?

Someone posted that Microsoft will continue to port Blizzard games to Mac. My point was sure if they make a gamepass for MacOS then yes. They aren't going to invest the money for a competitor platform unless its a subscription. A huge chunk of what they put out for MacOS is all tied to O365 and Azure subscriptions.
I would be ecstatic if they started offering native games to mac via game pass….I’d assume they would put it on steam too so you can buy it. They probably wont though…..unless they finally get a deal with Apple to bring back boot camp with windows 11 so we can dual boot. I’d be happy with that.

I TOLD YOU SO!!!!

I said how other companies were gonna have purchase options for Blizz…well I said it on the WoW boards but I still told you so LOL.

And to Apple—you ****ed up! You had the chance to buy all of that but NOOOOOOOO! You decided to just go along stupidly.

It depends, if they are not doing a name change, then it’s all about Microsoft’s goal for this acquisition. Also before this goes any distance it needs to be approved by the regulators as Microsoft will again be seen a monopolist of sorts.

As an Apple fanboy may I ask:

- why is this in macrumors?
- what is gaming?
Some of the earliest Blizzard games were Mac centric such as the original Diablo. So there is long history of discussing Blizzard products. Just because Apple tends to ignore this industry doesn’t make it less important to us to discuss anything along the lines of gaming. ;)

Trust me I would be ecstatic as well if we see Win11 ARM on bootcamp. I am a huge iOS supporter but I am 95% Windows/Ubuntu/Debian in the desktop space.

I have a single M1 Macbook that I use pretty much for web browsing and some 3D Printing stuff. Honestly my newest Zenbook renders faster and has a significantly better 3:2 screen.

Big news. I'd love to see some A+ console titles for Xbox in the Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo universes.

Because if consumers are anything like me. they will buy an Xbox to have access to titles they want if they are Xbox exclusive. and by extension if I have an Xbox I am likely to buy game pass and other Microsoft games.

Long run they get more money out of me. I am not going to stick with my PS and watch while other people get these exclusive titles. it will cost MS up forms but in the long run it gives them a new weapon in console wars 7... the revenge of Microsoft.
Exactly this. I have a PS5 for those exclusives, even if the game is on Windows but sometimes it performs worse ( looking at you FF7R which was a huge disappointment on PC)

This may get blocked. MS buying up game studios is now becoming uncompetitive. They will make these Xbox only that to me is bad for the consumer.

That is SquareEnix's fault not Sony...
My point was PC ports don’t always mean amazing ports. Just the fact it’s Windows doesn’t mean it’s free from issues. And I wouldn’t be surprised is Spider-Man on PC if it will ever get released will perform well. I notice some issues in Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War PC releases. Consoles still shine in these areas.

Ah, yeah writing to "unchanging" hardware is an advantage, that not even going to MacOS would match (sadly?). Though from my understanding GoW was a very well done port so it is possible to get it right.

The subscription is only $15 per month and you can play all games from xCloud.
