While most developers would be happy to earn hundreds of millions of dollars from their software, Microsoft is prepared to spend that much trying to convince customers to purchase theirs. What a waste.

This is good for Apple. If MS responds to Apple's I'm a Mac ads, this will only make Apple come across as more powerful, legitimate and viable.

The amazing thing is that MS is really worried about not being cool. In fact they're mad about it. They're jealous of Apple's cool factor.

Hilarious. Watch insecurity put MS on the defensive and take them down!

iWay or the highway. That's creative.

Can't wait to see these ads. Will they bash OS X? For its stability and security?
iWay or the highway... Damn you Apple for your applications being intuitive and compatible with each other... the whole iLife suite sucks... The way they work together just isnt compatible with PC life.

Ha! I see this as a good thing actually. The more people use Vista, the more switch to OS X and see that Microsoft is crap. :D :p

What is really funny, is that the PC guy is more popular in the ratings than the Mac guy.

Even in the interview with BG and SJ together, when they got talking about those ads, the interviewer even told them that she liked the PC guy better.

LOL

As an agency guy, I pity the poor bastards who are charged with creatively executing this campaign of sorts, etc. There are certain truths that even the best marketing are powerless against, and I frankly I believe the OSX being superior to Vista in every sense is one of them. And I really tried to be objective.

Unless Microsoft's response is to launch a new OS rebuilt from the ground up early next week, this battle has been won and lost already.

Godspeed McCann-Erickson!

They have awoken... "The sleeping GIANT"

I like Mac's and use them but...
I have wondered why MS hasn't responded to these campaigns...

We shall see what happens...

It is best to remain silent and believed a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

That's my best guess. I can only wonder if Microsoft Bob will be on the ad. Actually, I don't even think Baghdad Bob could paint a rosy picture about the Microsoft bloatware division.

By the way, do they still make the Zune?

Yeah... Because people will spend $1000.

Realize they got a crappy OS and then spend $2000 on a mac.

Right.

I love my Macbook Pro. I loved my powerbook. I love my 8 iPods and my iPhone.

But thinking that people are going to buy one and then the other is crazy.

Maybe it will get them to reassess in 5 years when they're ready to buy a new computer.

Marketing, marketing, marketing.

I think Apple needs a CHEAP iMac to steal even more windows users.
My dad played with my mac... fell in love and JUST re-did his whole company to MBP's... and every user loves the switch. Our employees are even getting Mac's at home. So yes... (while I am in the hot Alberta economy) people will spend the money for what is good... and they wont stand ****** merchandise.

i like the part about software compatible for my whole life...

i love spending my free time creating worksheets in excel and nothing passes the time like staring at a bsod.

I would go after COST. Especially in the current economic environment.

Attacking features or design would be suicide.

finally its time for microsoft to do something.
honestly, as much as i LOVE macs and its OS.. their commercials are biased... EXTREMELY biased.

their whole "it just works" is bull crap. why does it "work?" CAUSE YOU GET 10GB OF PRINTER DRIVERS... and the funny thing is, the canon mp470 they sell, is not even in that 10 gigs of drivers so i have to install my own drivers

Time Capsule, Airport issues!!! i never had a problem.. and i never had a problem w/ wireless w/ Vista/XP. but look at this forum, some people wont even update to the next software updates cause their afraid their network will get screwed up

Microsoft freezes and gets the blue screen of death. Sad to say, i dont know if it applies to many of you but me and my friends barely experience it. Honestly, i experienced the same amount of Blue screen of death as compared to Kernel panics

that one commercial where the group of PCs are together and one of them freezes and repeats himself... macs do that too. They have beach balls, force quit, etc...

there's so many problems addressed in this forum and i guess you can say , "yes, although mac people may have problems, its still a lOT less compared to the PC users." frankly, i dont find that to be true to a certain extent. please understand that this is from MY perspective but.. i know soo many people who use PC's and they're fine. and the people who have problem upgrading to vista... well their computer is 8 years old. JUST LIKE how some of the older g3 macs cannot upgrade to leopard

i think the problem is that Mac users love computers and appreciate it more than pc users (includes me) therefore, we're always updated in terms of technology and the processors we use. but the pc people all they care about is opening that mozilla window and reading their emails. and those people, theyre computers "suck" cuase its freakin old.

and the PC people who actually DO care about their computers? well their in luck cause they get an expandable desktop AND they rarely have problems with PC... if not just as much as a mac user would have.

well, those are my thoughts. im not attacking anyone who likes mac, cause i love them!!!! but id just like to know what you guys think

I think it could help Microsoft for a bit...

Until Apple comes up with ads making fun of Microsoft's response ads: "I'm a Mac. And I'm a PC. Mac, have you seen these new ads I've had?"

Worst for Microsoft in all this is that Apple knows how to make great ads. Microsoft doesn't, and I wouldn't trust them to know which advertising agency to hire. Because of that, no matter how much money Microsoft pumps into this advertising, it will likely be too little, and will most certainly be too late.

Unless Microsoft's response is to launch a new OS rebuilt from the ground up early next week, this battle has been won and lost already.

That's not going to happen. Overall Windows still has 3rd party software superiority, so if they can keep that the battle certainly hasn't been "lost".

Hello I'm a Vista, and I'm a Leopard.
I can just imagine the script being something like this:

Hello, I'm on Vista
and I'm on Leopard

Vista: Did you know that I come with built in virus protection and a firewall?
Leopard: Wow! Really?
V: Yeah! I bet you don't have any virus protection or firewalls built-in
L: Nope
V: Why not?
L: Because no one will make any
V: I'm sorry to hear that... Did you know that Windows has 90% market share?
L: Yup
etc.... etc... etc....

;)

:apple:

Knowing Micro$oft, they'll mess up the commercials to. Wouldnt be surprised if there was a BSOD halfway through. rofl

Seriously, is anyone going to go out looking for Vista? Most people will not trouble themselves and will just upgrade when they purchase a new PC. I pity the person that sees the commercial and goes to Walmart saying "GOTTA HAVe VISTA!" immediately upon his brainwashing.

"Key features to be promoted include upgraded security and compatibility with both applications and devices."

So their advertising campaign is "This version is better than the last"??? Might as well be "Vista! What XP should have been!"

Matthew

I think MS has to respond and yes they are very late to the party. The fact is, because of these ads its gotten into the general consciousness that Vista is broken, and the perception is much stronger than the actual reality. Yes there are some issues with Vista, but I've been running it for over a year and have very little problems. But, I deal with people every week who think that because they are running Vista, every problem they have with a computer is due to that. Spent time on the phone with this one guy who couldn't open a document. He kept saying "yea I upgraded to this Vista, I know that must be the problem"...must have said that 5 times...when I finally pinned down what the problem was, he was trying to open a .xls file and he didn't have Excel installed. Sigh...
