I have a strong feeling that it is going to be some sort of portable/handheld gaming device. Something along the lines of Sony PSP, as mentioned by several posters above.

I am very sure its not a software release, but rather a hardware one...

Vista ][

Let me guess. Maybe another version of Vista? There are only 7 versions (no kidding) right now. We desperately need an 8th version.

Maybe Vista ][? It will have a non-changeable brown theme that brings up the "hip" retro feeling of the Apple ][ computer.

Or Mr. Hanky.

Zune 3.11 for Workgroups

A Zune Gaming Device with wireless play. Will ship in a leather pocket-protector.

My bet

I think M$ has come up with a way to finally cut the cord and make it so you can play solitaire without a computer at all. They're going to release a small, handheld pack of 52 identically cut and imprinted on the back, but on the front different pieces of paper that can be used to play solitaire without any electricity needed.

Service pack 2 will be released for it shortly with the first joker. The second only comes in the Ultimate version.

how about:

xbox 360's that come with HD drives? oh wait we could of done that on the elite but why in the hell didn't we?

xbox 360's that don't over heat and break after a few months. - plausible.

well, I'm spent. i'm sure it will be llame as hell and something I'll never need.

Microsoft is going to unveil the updated MBP before Apple can.
YESSSS I'm so excited now.

hello Apple. 2007 it's only the beginning of what?

The beginning of a fairly lame year for new products and a good show of disrespect for the Mac comunity (No Mac hardware / software in Jan conference).

I hate to see when they really kick it off in 2008.

Cheers! Apple is so good, they can get MS to promote their products for them!!

... or not.

I don't get why everyone rated negative... I voted positive. I'm definitely curious as to what it will be, and I have a much more optimistic outlook than you all do. Then again, I've been a PC user all my life and I'm just now switching over to Mac (as soon as the damn MBP is announced). Although I don't seem to be the only one intensely interested in MS's latest product, as this IS the 8th page of posts on this thread of 'mac users'.

This site does not have an "I don't care" voting button, so it gets a negative instead.

That table thing someone posted looks pretty cool

http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=474

Yeah it looks cool.. but that's about it... or do we all want to stand in front of a big tilted touchscreen?
I mean.. in order to use a screen like that, it has to be in that position... useful for a tablet, yes.. for an iPhone like devise yes.. but a replacement for desktop? mmmmmh unless you want to redesign the whole office...

Useful for creative people? mmh.. unless the screen is of very good image quality and doesn't get dirty from all those fingers...

Another weak point is "the interface completely disappears" which he talks about all the time... it may disappear for the things he's showing.. like making dots with your fingers.. but what if you want squares, or you want to colorize those dots?
You need an interface to do that... and if you want a "finger" interface.. it needs to be rather big... unless you have fingertips as big as a mousepointer...

Well it's about time MS came out with a vacuum cleaner. Finally, something that won't suck.

Its dustbags will come in several versions: Home Basic, for cleaning your hallways, Home Premium for your hallways AND bedrooms, Business with a size fit for all the dust in your workplace, and Ultimate, big enough to fit all your different crappy versions of Vista inside to throw out all at once.

EDIT: Wow, I just read over my post and that just fell flat. *Sigh* I try...
