This is actually very representative of Microsoft as a company. The commercial is waaay too complicated. It demands a lot of concentration in order to be understood, and even then, it just isn't funny. It also says nothing about Microsoft, except that their commercials are just as cloogy and boring as their operating system. I actually feel kind of bad for them, considering that this is what they got for their millions of dollars. I mean for real. :( PC people are people, too.

Peeeee Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!

Stunk so bad I thought a hippo had died under the sofa.

Update... I remember the "Shoes for the industry..." tag. Where'd that come from? Brain-be-failing.

what was this ad for again? shoes? carnival food?

oh wait. I saw the microsoft logo at the end. must be a microsoft commercial. for what, I dont know...

Microsoft has an image problem. This is trying to make Microsoft warm/fuzzy. I enjoyed it. Even if it didn't sell a product.
Warm/fuzzy? Maybe, but also socially awkward/inept if not a bit weird. Isn't this the emotional response "I'm a PC" guy generates in Apple's commercials already?

"Evil" image of MS may be common among tech enthusiasts, but these kinds of commercials will not sway their opinion. Having a reputation of being incompetent, boring, confusing or outdated among a wider audience is the real problem for MS and this commercial reinforces that image.

You say this as opposed to in iPod or iPhone commercial that tells you nothing at all other than a digital guy or girl dancing with white (crappy) ear phones that have shipped since the 1st Gen iPod and a 2nd Gen iPhone that ads nothing but 3G (useless in the US) and GPS (Useless without turn by turn directions). I can see a blue dot of myself on my phone. I must be cool.

I can see why you'd be confused. Neither commercials say anything but hype and try and get the target Market.

hi, yeah, i think you're on the wrong forum.

wtf? seriously - I have no idea what that was supposed to say about M$? Maybe its too subtle for me but I prefer ads that at least give me a clue as to the product they are trying to sell.

not impressed (at least my expectations were not exceeded)

Looks like microsoft is still in the business of selling ugly discount brown shoes.

nothing to see here.

I found the ad quite funny.

face at 3 seconds, name spoken at 8 seconds. im sure the entire world knows this is a microsoft commercial and who the richest man in the world is.

The commercial grabs your attention and seems to inspire that microsoft is innovative. some sort of secret hint that something amazing is about to happen (even though we all know it wont)

hi, yeah, i think you're on the wrong forum.

Dancing iPod girl = customer happily using device being advertised. Perhaps you missed that part?

Bill Shoe Buyer = customer happily using device being advertised? So are they selling the discount card?

Like many people said before me: is it the best that they can come up with?
Now the Mac ads are funnier than Jerry Seinfeld????
It makes no sense.

I can see Jerry at one of his shows saying: "And what about those Microsoft ads, I don't get it...".

I'm speechless. I'm.. without speech.

Agh, that was painful to watch... Bill may know how to employ illegal business tactics, but humor is not his thing...

That...was...the dumbest piece of crap commercial I have ever seen....it did not make ANY sense.

that has to be the dumbest crap i have ever seen in my life. wtf?

although wearing a new pair of leather boots in the shower does work to loosen them up. it's a fact!

Grabs your attention? what planet are you from?

Funny Ad.. but doesn't really do anything to promote Vista

It's a humorous ad.. but it doesn't do anything to promote Vista and its benefits.. What is the goal of this ad campaign? Anyone? Anyone?

Seinfeld i think is meant to be the "Mac Guy" and Bill the "PC Guy" in microsofts version of the PC/Mac Guy ads Seinfeld is the idiot and Bill is the practical smart guy eg. i cant remember it word for word but - "Have you tried taking a shower in your clothes, you can just get in take a shower then go off to work without having to put your clothes back on", PC Guy says "umm??, No" The Mac guy(Seinfeld) in the ad thinks he's smart because it's simple but he's practically stupid, i mean come on if you take a shower your clothes will get wet and you'll look like an idiot. Also Seinfled "Is that your foot", Bill "No it's leather" - Bill is being a smart ass

In this ad:
Mac Guy - Simple Minded, Idiotic, looks up to the PC Guy as a hero/god
PC Guy - Highly Intelligent, Practically Minded

all this commercial did for me was..

a) make me want a corn dog.. (really bad too..)
b) helped me remember i need to go get a new pair of dress shoes soon..

i feel sorry for Microsoft because they wasted so much money on ads that instead of making me want a PC.. get me hungry and help me remember i need new shoes.

ps.. where was vista mentioned? did i miss it?

well that was completely pointless, they should of spent that money on developing new software not on this "ad campaign" if you can call it one.
