It's creative

They are ok far better than seinfield but still long

At one point in the ad they have people say "I'm A PC"

Kinda sounds like from some "I'm all pissy"...because windows failed on their computer...again.

If apple is smart enough they will stop running their "I am a MAC" ads. But make something completely new.

All i could see when i watched these ads is Ballmer dying of his HORRIBLE laugh. I can so see him directing it: "Ohh and put a fish guy into it, yeah...."

I think I can think of better ads against apple.

Dear Microsoft,
Contact me if you're interested. I'll charge you $300 million and donate the money to Linux.

LOL

I like!

Would like to see Apple's follow-up. The "Get a Mac" series, in its current format, is officially dead.

Wow. The bias and arrogance of some of you people is so thick that you would never like a Microsoft ad. These ads are really good and the really humanize Windows. Its a great response and kind touching because it circles the globe.

Oh and these ads aren't meant to sell product!

So you're saying that you fell for it. Bravo for being easily manipulated.

The commercials have their merits. They have their faults. They have their plusses.

Apple does need to revamp it's ad campaign. That much is certain. They need to almost take up the reigns of that old "Think Different" commercial from 10 years ago. Not the slogan, but that feeling. The "here's to the crazy ones" Because that, in my opinion is one of the best commercials ever made.

If Apple's ads can make people think, then the point is made.
I feel these "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" are getting old. They have their funny moments, but the art of great advertising is getting the point across without offending a majority of the computer market.

I liked it. This is much better than the Seinfeld series. Nice job Microsoft. Now let's see an OS that is as creative. :apple:

The message:

"I'm a cool person cause I use a P.O.S. operating system!"

"A billion people use an inferior windows product... and so do I!"

LOL!!! I betcha apple is shîtting their pants.

So I've always hated the "I'm a mac"/"I'm a PC" campaign...

I can't see why MS is bothering to respond to Apple so directly with this, but I think it's very effective.

I hope Apple stops running their stupid commercials and does something new.

better but room for improvement...

better than the seinfeld ads but i'm not sold until i see the "yeah i'm a pc, but i run osx" ads

These ads are saying; "You can be like everyone else and be a PC and, by implication, be different and be a Mac".

If you identify being cool with being like everyone else then this works. But, most people think the opposite.

Microsoft are way-off on this one. Also, by 'responding' to Apple's campaign Microsoft are legitimising (sorry I don't do US spelling) Apple's message.

This ad will push people toward Apple.

Wow. That's some marketing. It took you how many years to respond. And that is it....?.... Shows the lack of creativity and cohesiveness at Microsoft. Sorry, but that made a point, but it's not something people will remember or identify with. It doesn't appeal to the issues anyone has, and it doesn't help tell us that Vista isn't broken or that Vista is a worthwhile OS. It only tells us that more people have and use PCs and it is probably all they have ever known. And there are proud PC users for whom the OS does what they need it to, maybe even better than a Mac. But it still doesn't stop the fact that Microsoft is negligent to it's consumer base because of its marketshare. And that working on a Windows box can be a laborious uninspired experience, and really not an expression of who a person is. Look at the way people dress, what they do to their cars to claim an identity. You don't think they want their computer to do that to. Their phone does now. The OS is a harder jump, especially with price points and work environments. But the tide is moving the Mac direction. And these ads aren't going to change that.

they are so late to responding to the i'm a pc i'm a mac ads. When did they come out in 2006, now its two years later. But besides that i'm a cool commercial, i like it.

Don't get it

The Apple ads are directly addressing well known issues with M$'s OS, OS being the key here. Does M$ build and sell PC's? No, they develop software. And not all PC's are running M$ OS. I guess I'm totally not getting the logic in these ads, but I'd find a new advertising agency, one that doesn't insult the very people they want to sell to. Seriously... Living with a family they actually poke fun at, referring to them as average folks... I wish my "average" house looked like that families. I guess I find the ads a tad insulting is all... rant over. :D

You just hit the nail on the head...:D But Window fanboys will never get it because they are so blind with fanboyish BS..

This is a nice start.

Now Microsoft just needs to make the next version of Windows better then XP. :p

I take it you've never been around for all the Apple repair extensions that have been handed out over the years.

You should see some of the dust clogged Dells from 1999 that we have in working condition. Aside from the dust and age that is. Pentium II and 440BX are love.

Inspiron 3200 4life!

Seriously, I still have one of these TS30H clones running a 400mhz PII, a processor it was never designed to run, and it runs XP just fine. Albeit at 16 bit color depth, but still... It's my Dreamcast burning machine when I write DC code, since I can't burn those multisession CDIs on my Mac...

I have to say this is an excellent ad.

To those people who say that this doesn't sell Microsoft products -- So Justin Long acting all hip and cool in front of a background sells Apple's products?

Don't get me wrong, I like Apple - I just don't see the need to act elitist and condescending towards other companies.

Just my two cents.

Have a nice day.

I actually like these ads, and they even get a message across!

The Seinfeld ads were rubbish. Trying too hard to be too clever, and I feel it failed miserably. But these ads are successful in that they are at least addressing the obvious and bringing Windows to the forefront.

I still think Windows is an absolutely horrible product, and I hate every minute I have to use it, but at least these ads are actually saying something.

Bizarre touch to have Gates in all of these ads though. I guess they're just trying to make Microsoft more approachable?

But the difference is that Justin Long isn't just standing there looking pretty, he's actually discussing a feature or a product.

Nicely done. Good form! Since I use VMware/XP on my mac, I guess I'm a PC also but married to a hottie Mac. :D

My thoughts: It's repetitive; cut it down to 35 seconds of "I'm a PC.." and slap on a 5 second Windows tag. Problem: We already know there's lots of PC users of different walks of life, but tell us WHAT'S new and different about your newest offerings and WHY we should upgrade to the latest and the greatest.

If it's just to counter Apple's legendary ads, then, mission accomplished.

Maybe it's too early in the campaign, but I already know, chance are, a scientist in Africa studying some insect, is going to be using a Windows-operated PC. I never (!!) have bought those idiotic Mac elitist claims in Apple's ad. I know there's thousands of different types of people using PCs. Looking at those Apple ads, I'm more likely to draw the conclusion that your typical Mac user are more standardized. ;)
