This ad was better.

My thoughts exactly. It could be quite an entertaining series. The idea now seems to be connecting with "real" people, who are belittled and despised by those in the position of Gates and Seinfeld but are a good source of cash, because they often have $1800 stashed away. Also, they create markets for cheap shoes, which the rich can take advantage of as well.

absolutely. this commercial doesn't think its consumers are too stupid to know anything.

anybody watching this knows who bill gates is, knows who seinfeld is, and knows what microsoft and windows are. they know what this commercial is marketing, no need to mention it at all. genius.

there is no need to tell people who buy computers that one OS is better than another in a stupidly retarded way a la "mac guy" vs. "pc guy"

who would you hire at your company--the mac guy who can do cool video editing? or the fat PC nerd, who will code in assembly language for you. there's a reason he is fat--he's always in the office so he has no time to exercise.

You made my day, you really sound retarded... :-D

Both PC and Mac can do these stuff, usually Mac do it better because of moderns & adavnced OS and technology, user interface. Microsoft always sucked, who say it isn't try don't know what they did in the past, their choices...

PC VS MAC adds are fantastic because let everyone know what Macs can do even who didn't know computers. Most of people are ignorant and think Office for Mac doesn't exist or Mac can do only music... and i'm not joking, i worked for like 8 years in IT, shops, support.

But you are just a troll..... enjoy your Psystar trash :)

I must say I kinda enjoyed this one. It's on par with the average Get a Mac ones. But it does seem a bit pointless for an ad. No message, no product mentioned. It feels like an advertisement for Bill Gates. I guess he wants to be more popular. It's not the first time he has had a funny video made about him...

lol... we're both trolls... i'm just a bored troll... you're a windows guy trolling as a mac guy to make mac users look stupid... i love the intricacies of trolling.

just to clarify, in case you are not a windows guy trolling as a mac guy to make mac users look bad--- i'm NOT talking about the OS in the commercials, i'm talking about the ACTUAL LOOKS OF THE ACTORS.... they get a young kid to be the "mac" and an older nerdy looking guy to be the PC. i think that makes the ad look a lot less "factual" and a lot more manipulative, and that this is kind of transparent. again, you've misread me, I am not criticizing the factual information of the mac vs pc advertisement. I am criticizing the ad itself, the fact that they create stereotypes of PC users, when, in reality, someone who looks like the PC guy probably knows what he is talking about, whereas the Mac guy is probably just a college-kid who can make cool websites.

i hope you don't start stalking me and try to kill me man... you sound REALLY angry. i'm sorry if i've offended you by criticizing the mac ad :(

Its a funny commercial. Maybe I am not the Target group, so I didnt get it.

You know what.... I actually kind of enjoyed that. And I get where they're going with this.

You get it huh? Yeah right. I must be one of those Vista non-adopters that just doesn't get it yet and needs to made a fool of before I can appreciate it.

Bill said he was retiring from MS. Why doesn't just keep his word!

Well, we have a different sense of what's funny over this side of the atlantic - and that certainly wasn't it. It was stilted - badly scripted and very badly acted.

I just don't get it. I don't get it as a standalone skit, and I certainly don't get it as anything to do with Microsoft.
:confused::confused::confused:

Do Americans consider this funny?

I don’t. But I am not American - maybe that’s why...

man after i saw this commercial i really had to buy a vista, so i went 160 miles to a walmart that was open 24 hours and now i have a vista PC!!!

man, i'm glad i'm not supporting apple anymore. they are totally destroying the environment. they don't support any good causes.

Holy mother of crap. People here are actually Steve Jobs kool-aid. If youre too blind or stupid to see the genius of the video, Apple will always be behind.

Some of the best advertising ever made no sense. All you need is for people to remember your ad. They are doing that simply because no one makes sense out of it... YET.

Ding ding ding!!!!!!

Beer companies sometimes only show their logo for a few seconds while the rest of the commercial is just some "hot chick" pouring pitchers all over herself or some other type of "fantasy" like that.

Microsoft went a step further and didn't show their product at all. This MAY be genious. Point being don't go bashing on Microsofts ad department just yet........give them some time before you start.

I mean, hell at the least they are making up for a poor operating system with a humorous ad campaign with one of the biggest names out there. Maybe if they put half the money they spent on getting Seinfield to do Lord knows how many ad's for them...some of which I would assume he could of even had a hand in creating. They may be able to compete with Apple.

....my to cents.

I know who Bill Gates is, and who Seinfeld is, think I know what microsoft and windows are too.... but I still don't know what this commercial is marketing.... thought the idea of marketing was to advertise your product not create some story line that has no real relevance to anyone.... maybe its just me being stupid but I have no idea what its about.... Think I have opened myself up to to reams of replies now 1/ saying I'm clearly stupid, and 2/ the explanation, in far too much depth of a clearly rubbish ad!!

Who says the cool guy who can do video editing I'snt a nerd as well?? :)

So basically.... Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld are washed up famous people leeching off some family, and have decided that the future of computers is in Goldfish with blogs.

I never thought the first ad would be trumped :\

You no comprende?

They're two out of touch zillionaires getting in touch with the people to ground themselves and understand what normal people do/want/need, in a non-serious light hearted manner.

Just imagine for one second...

That I know nothing about computers, like my parents for example...

I'd have no clue what the heck they are trying to push here? I know since I turned the light side and went mac I have become a bit of a fanboy, but i did a little test and showed one Get a Mac ad and then the Microsoft ad to my dad and he instantly knew what was being sold and could relate to the Mac ad (especially the herbal ad re vista app freezing!), where as the Microsoft ad just annoyed him, and he had no clue who the leads were (we're over in England were Seinfield isn't the god he is in the States, infact I and most my friends hate him and just dont get it )

Microsoft quit while your behind and stick Microsoft office et al

continued...

Having said all that... it is generating a whole lot of discussion and therefore it could be argued that the ad campaign is onto a winner!? Who'd of thunk it eh?

starstruck much?

Maybe it's a cultural thing, as my not entirely Anglo-Saxon upbringing and some friends with non-Western backgrounds take it for granted that one treats the prince and the pauper equally when a guest in one's house. Perhaps MS marketing decided that the average American would be starstruck by the visitation of G/S, but this whole premise does not gel with me. When I meet someone well-known it can be an interesting experience but I don't feel like I'm "in the Presence".

Also, is there that much of a class thing going on that you punish a rich man by putting him in overalls? It is possible that I was reading too much into that scene, but it seems cheesy. I understand that it's comedy, and while it's not quite my comedy I can see the fun. But even comedies involve assumptions about real life.

Their quirky developer conference ads are much better because Gates+Ballmer seem to be acting more as themselves - Gates is socially awkward and Ballmer is a used car salesman, but neither of them have ever lived their lives as people kinda trying to fit in.

I kinda enjoyed it. Way less smug than the 'get a macs' ended up being I reckon. They ended up making me feel slightly less pleased about being a mac person.

These aren't going to make me go out and use windows, but I don't choose my stuff based solely on marketing and weird adverts.

I think this is still more interesting to watch than most other ads on the TV at the moment.

Perhaps just 'I'm Jerry Seinfeld and I endorse this message' at the end though...
