Can anyone please explain why i need OneNote, or EverNote, or any other, when both iPhone and iPad have the native Note application, that syncs up with your notes in iCal?

OneNote is awesome, extremely flexible. I was looking for a OneNote alternative not too long ago, and found Underscore Notify, which is incredible, too. However, once this app sneaks past the border I will probably check it out too.

Because it has WAY more functionality than simple text notes.

Regarding the "Login failed, error: 400"

Known issue we are looking into it. Seems to be a server error, thank you for the high level of interest!

You can grab some parts of web pages in any browser, add pdf's and other formats, have tags and notebooks, can mark up text etc

The native iOS Notes application can't create notes from audio files, snapshots from the camera, or photos saved to your camera roll. Nor can the Notes app save files in PDF format or recognize words from photos.

Way too late

I was waiting to test the beta of this 18 months ago - back in 2008 I had my entire life on OneNote and it seemed futuristic to have what was on my laptop on my iPhone.

However, I now have such a great setup on Evernote I literally signed up for a year's subscription a few hours back and do not regret it one bit.

I cannot understand why Microsoft are so late to market with everything these days??? They have the cash to beat the competition yet it seems they are losing all kinds of market share in all kinds of ways - and where the hell is this:

It is the only potential iPad killer and that promo vid is so old!

As opposed to the endless list of free products from Apple?

You mean apps like iPod, Calendar, Photo, App Store, Phone, Mail, Camera, Safari, Stocks, Maps, Notes, Clock, Calculator, Compass, Voice Memos, Game Center, iBooks, iTunes, Apple Store, Find iPhone...

Like that? Uh, yeah. ;)

Do you have ANY idea what you are talking about?

First, how is this a vote of no confidence in Windows phone 7, OneNote is a default app on Windows Phone 7. Is Apple releasing Safari a big vote of no confidence in OS X by the Safari Dev team?

Also, when has Microsoft ever refused to believe in the form factor? Microsoft heavily pushed tablet pcs LONG BEFORE THE IPAD, even with slate tablets from Motion Computing. What about the HP slate which was demonstrated BEFORE the iPad was demonstrated?

Oh man!
Blahblah I sympathise...

Eppa are you aware that OneNote was ORIGINALLY CREATED specifically for tablet PCs 9 years ago? Not only are you wrong you are AS wrong as you actually can be.

Here is your prize: http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~ncm99/project/archives/000009.html

And we all know that Apple would never do that.

.....Have you ever used iTunes on Windows ????

To Apple's defence, iTunes is terribly sluggish in OS X too.

You do realize that all those apps are "free" because you purchased an iPod/iPhone/iPad that made Apple money, and therefore you paid for them?

I'm starting it - a new NEVER

Since the Verizon iPhone is now a reality after so many years, I'm starting a new "never" for everyone to toy with.

Microsoft will NEVER make Office for the iPad!!!!! They don't want to develop it because they don't want you to buy an iPad. Also, their developers are still too stuck on physical keyboards and mice to put together something that can do touchscreen.

I don't care about Windows Mobile 7 (they won't make it there either) and the RAM limit on the iPad 1G doesn't matter either.

I haven't used OneNote in years, but my boss swears by it and also has an iPhone. Does the desktop version sync with the cloud as well?

Right. And Microsoft won't make a dime when you sign up for a Live account to use this app.

Of course they will. But your post was a response to a post requesting free products from Apple. There are none, the products you listed are all a part of the package when you buy an iProduct. The closest you get to a free product from Apple is iBooks. I'm not saying that Apple should give away software, but I'm saying that they aren't.

Don't get me wrong, I am not defending MS. But I've never seen so much whining, finger pointing, and complaining. It appears that juvenile behavior reigns supreme if anything other than Apple is brought up.

I use both Evernote (cross platform) & One Note (Windows 7). They are both very good. And they are also quite different. Each with it's advantages for the different target markets they are intended for. Overlap does exist, yet the differences are striking. It's no different than deciding between buying a new MBA vs MBP. It all depends on user needs & preferences.

Remote, Apple Store, Find iPhone and iBooks are all free from Apple and none came with the iPhone. When that poster said products, I believe they meant apps. I can't think of an App that Apple charges for and none have ads. I highly doubt the costs of producing these apps are built into the iPhone's pricing.

because basically OneNote is Notes on steroids

Can't Apple build a phone without locking people out?
A whale sized 30 pin dock connector?
Locked out of the battery compartment?
Cheated out of a non proprietary memory slot?
And on, and on, and________

ive never been locked out of my phone.

i can do more w/ a dock connector than a usb connector.

ive never changed a cell phone battery, nor have i had a desire to.

since i never had a memory slot, i cant have been "cheated" out of it.

and so forth.

If this was one note, I'd be stoked. This isn't one note. One note let's you click wherever and type wherever, take clippings of a screenshot, like a formula on an ebook textbook or a website, and handwrite with a tablet PC or a wacom tablet. Hardly any of those feature are available in one note for iOS, its easily one of the worst note taking apps I've used, and has about as much functionality as the built in notes app. Very disappointed, and I was so excited for it, too!

Oh well, maybe later. Paper desk for now.
