Well my one iMac is perfect

Truthfully, it comes down to this and nothing else; YOU ARE GOING TO GET AN IMAC WITH A YELLOW TINT NO MATTER HOW MANY YOU EXCHANGE..

Well the iMac 27in i7 3.4Ghz I'm presently typing on has no yellow screen, no dead pixels and is working 100% - shame the first 2011 iMac I received was not in the same condition, the same goes for my 2010 iMac 27in purchased on 9th June - it should not have a screen issue.

Apple can get it right, but why care if people are will to pay a premium for sub-standard goods.

ASt more than US$2000 they should bloody well work correctly, if not, send the buggers back - if enough people kicked-up a fuss, ie, all those who have yellow tint screen, Apple would soon enough fix it.

You don't purchase an umbrella with large holes in it, the same applies to iMacs - they should not get away with what by now is a well known problem.

I don't believe you. How about posting some good pictures of your "no yellow" screen with white and grey backgrounds. This is the fourth iMac I have had in 4 months and they ALL have had it. That would be a VERY big coincidence don't you think?

Base iMac 2.5Ghz

-No backlight bleed
-No hard drive noise
-No dead pixels

-Yellow tinge across the bottom of the display (not strong but readily noticeable)
-Dust under the glass

I'm sending it back and getting a refund. I'm not interested in playing the iMac lottery, and the glossy screen is giving me headaches. It's my first glossy screen so I underestimated how distracting it really is.

Mind has exactly the same issue and no other issues.

My High end i7 2GB 6970 with an SSD has the same issue. Mine was built in Cork Ireland. Although I got rid of the dust but I have to take it into an Apple store tomorrow anyway. Just reached 15 days so I can't get it replaced by Apple care. Superdrive died today so I need to get that fixed.

After looking at mine some more I think it is the light band that these all have (including the cinema display) along the bottom that is making it look "warmer" or "yellowish" towards the bottom of the screen.

I have a question about all of these issues.

If you decide to contact Apple after the 14 day return period, will Apple Care still send over a band new replacement if you decide to call it in say 6, 10, or even as far as 28 months down the road?

Nope, but they will try to humor you with a repair.

Yeah but when the machine is ultimately deemed unrepairable with multiple calls about the same issue, don't they typically send over a replacement machine? (At least from what I've been reading with other's tales with Apple Care)

Yep, three major faults. Only likely if there is something demonstrably wrong with the screen every single time and it's staring you right in the face.

It's more likely that the tech will explain that the colour variability is within acceptable limits and the screen will not be replaced after the first replacement.

Also, to my knowledge, it's either a screen replacement or refund for those who suffer from jaundiced screens, assuming you get it in within the 14 day return period.

I got mine replaced after 24 days :D

Just got my iMac and I am really pleased with the screen. I can hardly see any yellow tint, I even think that what I see is between my ears...

It probably is, most of the time on this thread people won't realise they have a problem until they ask someone else, they then convince themselves they can see it and go loopy. I'd prefer to have never found out about this problem, but speaking from experience, it seems to be much less of an issue on the new machines.

In the UK you can legally exchange goods if they're faulty up to 28 days.

Also, I hate to be "one of those guys" but I got my 2009 iMac i7 got refunded 6 months after I bought it due to two screen replacements and several chewed Pro Applications DVDs.

I was so angry about it I more or less walked in and read them the sales of goods act word for word, like one of those angry morons that everybody hates. It worked though, I've since bought a 2011 model (after having owned a MBP in between) and it's ticking along quite nicely! Plus they threw in a free Magic Trackpad when I bought it!

Their service really is miles beyond any other shop I've bought from. Apart from maybe John Lewis.

Tbh I was just my friendly charming self lol. I didn't need to bring the whole law thing hehe

I have a brandnew Dell U2711. The anti-glare coating is simply terrible. I wish I bought an iMac 27 inch instead. :(

A friend of mine has it, and thinks the exact same thing about the coating. Looks like some people remove the coating from that Dell display and get the same mirror feature of the iMac.

I might return it. Not sure.

I've had it now for about 3-4 weeks, hoping I could get used to that AG coating.
I'm also having problems regarding the Displayport connection, the display won't wake up after sleep or it won't even wake up all together. Apparently I am using the wrong cable. We'll see but atm I am not happy with it. Don't think I'll ever be.

Regarding the AG coating, some people have removed it, but none really succesfully. Some have glue residue's, others scratches, etc.. however they all claim their U2711 looks a billion times better than before. Even with the scratches and smudges.

The only good thing about the U2711 is the PS3 connectivity LOL. Colours too, although the reds are superpowerful. Brightness is a bit much too.

No Yellow here (27" - SSD) but I've got one really really small "dust point" inside the glass, it's almost not visible but I know it's here and I don't like know this :D so I'm waiting for a new one that will arrive in the next 14days. :) (Great customer service from Apple  )

Just got the 27 iMac today and I will be sending it back because of the yellowing on the bottom of the display

There is yellow on the right hand side and there is a little bit of a red tint on the top left hand side.

seriously...are you looking at that picture on a "yellow" iMac?

besides what looks like a background reflection caught by the camera, from a lightsource in the upper left corner (vertical), it looks perfect to me.

Normally i find these issues pretty easy to spot when you sit in front of them, but hard to judge with pics taken with iPhones and cheap cameras at angles. I don't think we should judge the screens on these pictures unless it's absolutely obvious, as some definetly are, i bet many of the ones with a reddish tint in the corners are more related to iPhone cameras, than the screens themselves. My iPhone takes crappy pics of my own screen compared to my SLR.

Maybe there's the rainbow :D ahaha. It's perfect, trust me. The picture is taken not good, the iMac is skew, the light is low and the monitor brightness is the same… Here's a picture with light on (is the one on the right, not in the centre) http://i.imgur.com/uiphw.jpg

100% agree, there are some reflections, i've got a lot of lights on (window, normal light and the one in the background). I0ve done the photo only to show the bars, both have the same color.

This iMac is perfect to me, anyway IMO a 100% perfect display is impossible to find with the iMac or other consumer products… you must go with Eizo and other professional and $$$ products (display) ;)
