I thought the milanese loop looked like one of the more formal/expensive bands. I kind of question the quality though seeing they are usually pretty expensive and apple didn't choose to up-sell it like the link band.

That being said from the videos/pics on the wrist it looks hit or miss. I don't think it looks feminine at all but I think it's either a love or hate look. Putting one of an Aluminum Sport would look off-putting to me IMO. I think the leather is the only band for the sport that would match without issue.

Of the metal bands, the Milanese Loop is my favourite. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I could afford the damned thing.

I can't wear synthetic, leather or fabric wrist straps because it irritates my skin and looks terrible but steel bands seem to be OK. The cheapest Watch + steel band is over A$700 so that's me out.

Trying to find a heart-rate fitness tracker with a steel band that isn't an Apple Watch is pretty much impossible.
The Garmin Fenix has a steel band option, though they can cost more than the Apple Watch + Milanese combination that many are talking about here.

A number of members seem intent on pairing the aluminum with the Milanese Loop. However, whether they'll go as nicely together in real life as in the renders is another question.

Actually, interestingly enough, Apple's product photos are almost all photos rather than renders. As a result the pictures are likely to be pretty close to life.

However, something like this is of course far easier to judge in person, hence Apple's plans for appointments to try the watch in person. Personally I'm strongly leaning towards getting a Sport model in Space Grey and the Milanese loop — instinctively from the pictures it seems to go much better with the silver, but I live in hope!

I love the look of the Milanese, that would be the reason why I'd opt for the Appel Watch over the sport watch.

It's fine, I have a similar on my Mondaine.

I would, but it's one of the smallest bands and I have quite large wrists so I doubt it'd fit lol.

I didn't like it at first... but my coworker was on it hard, so it started growing on me.

wow that's sexy...

I think the answer is yes, but it wouldn't look good. The clasp of the SS loop will not match with the aluminum watch. BUT its not a big deal

But would we? I'm only asking because I went on the Apple (UK) website and I saw that the Milanese band was priced at £129, which made me think that they were sold separately after all (despite reading that they wouldn't be previously).

Then on their site I saw that you could chat to them and ask them questions, so I decided to ask them if I could buy a Milanese band and he said no. However, he was as much use as a chocolate teapot because he kept saying that the Watch and bands are not for pre-order yet despite me telling him numerous times that I knew that and was just asking in advance!
So now I don't know what to believe.

Also, if you go to www.mixyourwatch.com you can mix and match watch cases with bands to see what they look like together. The Sport with the Milanese loop looked ok IMO. The loop looks only slightly darker. This is the combination I would like if it's possible as I don't like black dot on the Digital Crown on the SS case (I'm fussy I know)!

They start as real photos but are eventually converted into renders for consistency in colors and tone. The end results aren't close to real life. Case in point, they've darkened the Space Gray a bit on iPhones on the website.

This has been posted and discussed elsewhere on the forum.

Would you wear the Milanese Loop? It is the one I want but I can't decide if it is meant to be gender neutral or not.

I have a pink smartcover on my white iPad Air and I haven't grown boobs yet so I think you'll be fine.

I think you'll be fine.

It's an interesting idea to pair these two. Seems to make sense.

You know what wouldn't make sense? Someone buy the black SS watch, and put that band which comes with it on the aluminum watch. That would be a rare look. ha. :)

Not only am I a man getting the Milanese loop, but I'm getting it in 38mm, for a more classic look.

Just sharing a thought as I follow the Apple Watch extremely closely.

Numerous articles talk about Apple's big push to sell the watch to women in particular. I think it's a wise strategy since it's no secret Apple desperately wants to be accepted in the field of Haute Couture Fashion, a very challenging segment to gain entry into.

Thus the choice of a rectangular form factor and a serious push at top tier pricing.

I'd have to see it and try it out in person, but on first blush, that was the specific band that appealed to me.

A different perspective.

While I don't disagree with your logic, I might remind you that until you've seen one, you may be overlooking the tiny display. With a rather high number of on screen elements in certain apps you may find its very difficult even with 20/20 vision to enjoy that small display.

Otherwise I'm sure you'll be happy. :)

My vision is 20/20 and great up close. Either way, the Watch isn't meant to be stared at for any length of time, so I'll have no problem with it. One can always just bring the wrist an inch or two closer to the face to make up the difference, if there's an issue. I've seen a lot of smart watches in the wild, and that big, black screen makes the watches look larger than they are. I'm really glad Apple has a smaller option. It should read about like a DateJust.

I was thinking about pulling the trigger on an Omega shark mesh for one of my watches earlier in the week, so the Apple Milanese is right up my alley, at the moment, and the whole thing costs less than the Omega mesh!

Sounds like you've done your research well.

Personally as a very avid high end luxury watch collector, if I was to buy one I would most definitely choose the Milanese Loop. It's a very nice bracelet that is indeed very gender neutral.

Enjoy yours :)

Thanks. My main concern is the magnet. Hopefully, it doesn't release easily.

What I'm really interested in is lugs with pins, so we can use our own straps. I'd love to throw a Hodinkee shell cordovan strap on this thing.

Yes indeed, with conventional lugs the choices in straps bands and bracelets would be endless.

As an aside, I'm also a Formula One enthusiast. I was extremely lucky to obtain a new limited edition Michael Schumacher numbered limited Omega Speedmaster while attending the Monaco Grand Prix.

Driving then for Ferrari he was magic to watch, it was a glorious several days. Yet so too were most every other F1 one race I've attended in various countries.
