I genuinely think the AirPods are the best Apple product since the iPhone. They really are excellent. Improvements I'd like to see are more seamless connectivity (it's perfect most of the time, but when it fails, it fails bad) and better sound quality. I think the battery life is fine as is and the form factor works well for me.

I just recently decided that I would put holiday gift cards towards AirPods. I wonder just how late into 2018 the next generation will be released.

Given that Apple has announced a new wireless charging case for the current model, I'd expect not before next iPhone release.

In ear version of AirPods please.
I like my BeatsX, and having something similar without the wire connecting the pair of them together would be awesome.

If these had round buds that actually fit into the ear I'd buy them in a heartbeat. Just not a fan of the shape, hoping for some change in this.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this is a false rumor spread by a competitor in an attempt to slow down the sales of the current model.

I put some universal headphone foam tips on my AirPods and was surprised at the difference. There's much more noise cancellation and the bass is much deeper. I can even leave them on when I put them in the case. Not a bad return on a $2 investment.

At first I was doing this too, because it worked beautifully for my earpods. But for Airpods, I found that the foam pads were interfering with some of the tapping functions.

Can you share a link for these? I surprised you can use a case with foam tips on the buds.
I bought the foam tips on Amazon. The fit inside the case is snug, but it does open and close completely.

I learned about using the foam tips here. I haven't modified mine yet because the sensors still work with the foam attached.

As usual, results may vary.

That's hardly necessary with the supply constraints, that Cupertino's forecast and provisioning geniuses impose on themselves during this "bad week"...

I loved the heck out of my airpods, until I lost the bloody things inside their dang case. 99% sure they are inside my house somewhere, but I won't find them until I get antsy and buy these new ones when they come out. oy.

I wonder if Apple could implement volume control into existing airpods by utilising the charging connections on the bottom of AirPod.

Stay with me here...

There are two metal terminals separated by an insulated material, if you touch your finger across the terminals a small amount of electrical resistance could be measured, much like capacitance touchscreens.
The airpods send their battery charge level to the iPhone, so if they see a spike or fluctuation in the charge level within the parameters of a human finger touching it, the airpods could then tell the iPhone to turn up or down the volume depending on which airpods is touched until the finger is released.

It’s probably obvious I’m not an electrical engineer! Just thought that would be a cool way to have volume control and tap controls on existing airpods. Just by doing a software update :)

Don't think I've seen an Apple product you don't love..

I've generally been pretty happy. I upgrade often so I usually have something more recent, which helps. iPad 3, by far the worst Apple product I have owned. macOS as of late also has been pretty bad, moved on from it for that reason.

I haven't had any problems with the tapping functions so far, though that is a concern. This site has a way to modify the foam so tapping works. I'll give it a try if needed, though I'm not sure I'll want to modify the foam every time I replace them.

Let them bundle a free AppleWatch to better handle the AirPod volume.
It is such a drag when elementary things (that used to work) just don't work reliably anymore - making the whole appliance a nuisance

I tried the Airpods. I loved them, but they wouldn't stay in my ears. So, I had to return them. It would be nice if gen 2 were designed to fit in more people's ears.

I would consider getting a pair if they had a better fit than the ear pods that come with the phones.
Same. For some reason they constantly and easily fall out of my ears, which is why I love the wing tips on the Bose earbuds because they are comfortable and keep them snug in my ears.
