In ear version of AirPods please.
I like my BeatsX, and having something similar without the wire connecting the pair of them together would be awesome.

I want the opposite. I want the Airpod earbud form factor, with the neck band (BeatsX). I'm not a fan of in-ear monitors, I can always hear my heart beat, and makes a lot of noise when running. I would also like physical buttons controls. Let's hope Apple gives us more options. Atleast with IEM's there are literally hundreds of other options. Earbuds, there are like ****** knockoffs, no ones makes earbuds anymore.

I bought the foam tips on Amazon. The fit inside the case is snug, but it does open and close completely.

I learned about using the foam tips here.

Sweet! Thanks for posting that. I will definitely give it a try. I love my AirPods, but there is a difference in sound between when I first push them in, and after they've been in my ears for a while. More bass initially, and then as the fit loosens a bit (mine never fall out, though) the volume is lower, and less bass. Sounds like the foam could keep that initial full sound longer. I also always use my Watch for volume and play/pause, so I don't even have to worry about the foam messing with touch controls at all.

I'm psyched! Might get a big bump on sound quality.

Does "smaller quartz component" mean much of anything to anyone? I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a good or bad thing, or if it's simply an unknown.

Depends on the headphones...I can wear my Bose QC35s and watch my kids flail their arms in front of me, trying to get my attention, while hearing nothing but peaceful bliss....
That sounds perfect :D

I think the ability to turn off NR seems pretty logical so if you are in a situation where you want to listen to something/take calls, but be able to hear then it's there.

This! I love my AirPods for lots of reasons, but I like the fact that I can hear things going on around me. Perfect for working out at the gym, boarding a plane, etc. Then when the plane is in the air I switch over to my QC35's to shut out the world. My son loved to make fun of the way I look when wearing them, but all it took was for him to try them once and now he wants a pair.

New noise cancelling headphones do manage to cancel some non-white noise.

Bose Quietcontrol 30 neckbuds my mother inlaw got me for christmas last year, I've always been amazed just how fast they process sound and cancel, the modern tech is much much improved over older tech.

I wear them at work and I've had my supervisor come talk to me and I can't make out anything he says when they are in when he speaks at a normal office tone. You can hear words but they're muffled enough by the active cancellation that they're jumbled and hard to define.

Are you sure that's the noise canceling and now the sound blocking nature of the buds? For example, stuff enough cotton in the ear canal and it becomes hard to hear (and there's no noise canceling tech in cotton).

So do I! I also expect new iPads in Q2, iPhones in Q3 and that modular MacPro somewhere along the way. ;)

I will be sticking with my Bang & Olufsen - Beoplay E8 much better sound and battery in my opinion sorry apple.

I agree with AZ Jack; I appreciate the fact that I can hear traffic while wearing my AirPods. I use them doing things like walking the dog and need to hear traffic around me. If I want to drown out objectable noise I turn the volume up slightly. I also agree that they don't always stay in if doing something physical.

Hope it works out. The foam tips I bought took about three weeks to arrive, but I won't complain since they were under $2. It's such a simple fix to some of my biggest complaints about the AirPods. Not perfect (nothing is), but better.

Apple will release an upgraded version of AirPods in the second half of 2018, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

An excerpt from Kuo's latest research note, a copy of which was obtained by MacRumors:Kuo said one internal change on the second-generation AirPods will include a "smaller quartz component," but he didn't provide any further details about new outward-facing features or improvements to expect.

Kuo said the new AirPods will continue to be assembled by Taiwanese manufacturer Inventec, with individual components supplied by fellow Taiwanese companies such as Unitech, Compeq, TXC, and HLJ.

Apple will also be releasing a new inductive AirPods charging case that will enable the wireless earphones to be charged with its new AirPower charging mat, which it said launches at some point in 2018.

Apple teased the AirPower mat at its iPhone X event back in September. It will be able to charge the Apple Watch Series 3, an iPhone X or iPhone 8 model, and AirPods inside the new charging case simultaneously.

As for the current AirPods, Kuo said Apple's suppliers are unable to make them quick enough to fully satisfy what he believes is robust holiday season demand, which likely explains why AirPods are sold out until January.

Kuo, who keeps a close eye on Apple's supply chain in Asia, said Apple has recruited Luxshare to help make AirPods, but RF printed-circuit boards for AirPods batteries are proving to be a key production bottleneck.

Kuo also reiterated his estimate that AirPods shipments will double in 2018 to 26-28 million units on a year-over-year basis, suggesting Apple will have sold around 13-14 million AirPods worldwide by the end of this year.

The ability to connect them to two or more devices is a must. It's annoying to have to disconnect from iPhone to use with iPad or visa versa.

I'd hope so for twice the price of AirPods.

Mine play from whatever device I press play without having to manually do anything. It takes a second to for it to switch but it does.

The Bose QC30 uses microphones to detect sound and actively blocks it, this is how proper noise canceling works. What you are referring to- physically blocking sound is called noise isolation which is what in-ear buds provide by creating a seal around your ear canal.

Sure seems like it to me because I have noise cancelling, and noise blocking headphones, and it seems much much more prevalent on the noise cancelling, but I could be wrong.

I put some universal headphone foam tips on my AirPods and was surprised at the difference. There's much more noise cancellation and the bass is much deeper. I can even leave them on when I put them in the case. Not a bad return on a $2 investment.

Would you care to share what foam tips you purchased?

If they do this, I hope they a version without the noise cancellation. One of my favorite things about the AirPods is that I am not oblivious to the outside world while wearing them. I really like they I can still hear people trying to get my attention when I’m wearing them.

I like to look like I’m oblivious though!

The smaller quartz comment did not make any sense to me either, Its confusing though. I suspect the Airpods and Airpower will launch during a Spring event together. I can't see Apple launching these Products separately.

I think the only things that could make them better are noise cancelling and volume control, and I wouldn’t turn down better battery life.

Maybe no toothbrush sticks on the bottom as well but I can’t imagine them fitting the batteries in there without it.

Why was noise-canceling not included in the first-generation? It has all the hardware for it.
Presumably because of battery life

I would love for them to make a sport version in-ear with tips and maybe wings.... but with these selling so much I doubt they will change the design much. I just can’t get these to stay in my ear.... so frustrating because I really like them

The headphones have terrible reviews online ... and they look awful.

Same here.
I have a hunch that both of those people have never used AirPods. I could be wrong. Same as the people clamoring for BT 5.0 like somehow that's going to make a different or compare to Apple's W1 features.
