Sure, us iPhone X users will feel a bit burned but the reality is we will get over it since our upgrades will be cheaper. For everyone else it is just a win. This is a speed bump on the way to a much smoother road for Apple. Try to price their best phones year after year at $1000+ was a recipe for disaster.

I really doubt they will lower the price, they'll just up the specs and make the entry point with 128 GB or similar so it appears better value....It will be interesting to see how much the Note 9 comes in for in August; that could put some added pressure on Apple if that is priced aggressively.

The component price drops would seem to benefit Apple's suppliers, not Apple.

But it benefits the consumer in the end. Because when the manufacturing cost are lowered, that’s a direct result of the iPhone X being priced cheaper, which would be much welcomed and was heavily scrutinized for the X being too expensive as it was. If these rumors are true about the new lowered pricing, to me, this is will significantly impact iPhone sales in a positive way, especially with the rumored 6.1 LCD iPhone incorporating Face ID like features, at a much cheaper price point.

I passed on the X but looks like I will update this year, largest size please.

I made the same decision. I went w/ the 8 plus for two reasons: first, cost. Second, I just didn't see any "gotta have it features" that I couldn't live without. Now if price comes down, I'll def get the biggest X. I think crossing the $1,000 barrier was a poor decision. Keep it under that and I'll upgrade.

I’m actually more excited about Kuo coming back than the news itself lol!
As someone mentioned, no one seems to have actually met Mr Kuo! He or she can practically work forever for whomsoever, anytime!

If this is true, then current iphone X owners like myself just got the _|_
I don't think so, you basically got the same tech just shad of time by paying premium!

Don't expect any tech upgrades for the years in iPhones! TC already indicated that they might follow 3 years release cycle.

They just play some games like screen size, OLED, missing 3D to differentiate various models. You probably won't see radical FaceID short of technology coming years.

If it were a superbowl success, why would they reduce prices?

As manufacturing costs for components and hardware continue to improve, its a reflection of the overall cost being reduced. The 5.8 iPhone X was the first of its kind, now with that the technology expanding and Apple likely having more suppliers to meet the demands for two other iPhone models including the 5.8 iPhone X, are able to diversify more. Usually anything technology related when it’s new will be a premium. But as the technology matures, it _can_ to slowly decline in price.

I still hear this all the time but never understand it. The vast majority of video content is 16:9, which isn't affected by the notch at all. If you're viewing something like 2.35:1 content, the viewable image is actually larger than on an LCD iPhone Plus model even when the view mode is set to keep the content out of the notched area.

So what is it that people could possibly be watching where the notch is affecting the content?
Yes, you can never use the entire screen unless you don't mind the notch.

Getting an iPhone X at much higher cost than the 8 Plus means a downgrade in 16:9 video size. For 2:35:1 material you still have to cut off the edge to avoid the notch, although the results are better for 2:35:1 material.

I'm shocked the X2 would start at $800. I thought it would be $900 at the cheapest.

It makes no sense to have a larger, cheaper iPhone with the same design to me. I feel like these LCD bezel-less phone rumors are getting something wrong...

Great, just what we needed. More walkie talkie idiots yelling into their watches in every store.
This featured died with Nextel and that was the best thing to ever happen to cell phones. So of course, let's bring it back...

edit: how am i in the wrong thread? did the link take me to the wrong thread?

If this is true, that really kinda pisses me off after I spent $1,000 for an older iPhone X. It’s good that they’re lowering prices but I’m sure they’re gonna get a lot of backlash for doing so from all of the people who paid $1,000 for their older models. Apple and their margins...

I hope they retain the 8 Plus like they have the 7's, 6s's and 6's this year and it comes down $200-300. That might be enough to entice me into upgrading my 6s Plus.
