I still don't understand the point of a Siri speaker, or the Amazon Echo or any other product in this segment. I already have Siri on my phone, tablet and computer.
Good point. At the same time, you'd want the Wi-Fi to broadcast from a central location (unless I'm misunderstanding the hardware terms here), and this sort of thing would do well in a central location. I dunno. Networking kinda confuses me.![]()
Yes, sounds good, but will there be stripped down additional devices that connect to the apple home, so you can have mics and speakers in other rooms, without having to buy another full featured apple home?I officially predict the smart speaker will be called Apple Home.

Apple home express?
I would love it to have w-lan, so it can be a ridiculous fast router too.
My personal experience is that if the result of a request involves a list of information, say a dozen items such as train departure times or a forecast of hourly temperatures for the next 12 hours, or anything where many items need to be absorbed and analyzed to form a conclusion to a larger problem unknown to an AI assistant, I would much rather see that information displayed so I can draw conclusions based upon my particular goals. Which are not necessarily simple, or known by the AI assistant.
And that points to why companies are rolling out AI assistants with displays, and why Siri will display list-based information rather than announcing the list (which would be easy to do). Can you remember a dozen quickly announced train departure times, so you can analyze the best choice for whatever larger complex scheduling goal for the day you might have in mind?
If I ask Siri "what's the weather in San Francisco," I want to see what the day will be like with an hourly forecast, rather than having that quickly read to me. Much better for contemplating available options. Again, that's not a shortcoming of Siri as it would be easy to make Siri announce the list. Rather, that's an informed programming choice.
I agree, I think the only reason Echo's sell at all is due to the novelty factor and the extremely low price point. It's an easy impulse or gift buy. I also think the way it links to Amazon's store is a nice feature that Apple can't match. Inevitably the Siri version will cost twice as much and I don't think it will sell at nearly the same volume. Then again I also thought Watch was pointless too, so who knows.
No, apple should make a special PadOS, with the same good touchscreen controll, but more possibilities in multiaccount/multiwindow , filemanagement, etc.
It is time for apple to cut the cord with iphone ios for the ipad, (maintaining compatibility though).
You mean 3D Touch? It's a nice thought, but I don't think it will happen. Tim Cook quoted how difficult it was to manufacture 3D Touch into a smaller form factor with the iPhone. I personally like 3D Touch and I would use it if the iPad offered it, but I don't see this being a likely factor. It would be nice to have so you can create shortcuts with a larger display like the iPad.
Maybe they will also announce new Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard to go along with it. I wonder why this particular screen size tho when they still have the 9.7" iPad Pro and the 12.9"
Rumors are already out.Apple is going to kill 7.9 iPad, Let me make it clear for youApple hasn't determine the fate of the 7.9 inch iPad.

Except for an essentially bezel-less design and maybe more ram I don't think you'll get what you listed.What I want in the new iPad
*OLED SCREEN
*3D TOUCH
*BEZELESS DESIGN
*MORE RAM
* USB-C (DITCH LIGHTNING)
* 500GB OF STORAGE
*MOUSE SUPPORT
*OPTIMIZED IPAD SOFTWARE
