Talking of flat, I think the Calculator app can also get some of that love. Though it doesn't have Scott Forstall written all over it, a decent design upgrade won't do any harm.

Also, the '7' in the Calculator app looks somewhat like the '7' from the banner considering its design is inspired from Braun's Calculator. Ive is making his presence felt, already! ;)

Xbox One E3 event is Monday. 30 minutes later Apple WWDC starts. The internet is going to break.

Yup, this is how it SHOULD be. After all the leaks last year, I already knew everything about all the upcoming products before they were launched. Maybe Tim Cook has finally got round to doubling down on security?

Software is a lot easier to hide and keep under wraps than Hardware.

Software designs stay inside one corporate headquarters, Hardware designs are sent to a different continent! ;)

They could go the minimalist route with the name as well and just call it X

It is the last version of OSX after all. Not that it's going anywhere, just that they will finally have to call it something else as 10.9 becomes 11.

Closest thing I could make...

Well, it was the logic choice to depart from the big cats... I'm pretty sure with all the OS X iteration there was no more of them to pick from.
You can't go from Lion, Montain Lion back to.. Lynx ? It would feel really awkward ( and no, a Liger is not a real specie )

Hello sea themed OS X.

How about the new:

Mac OS X: Ocelot - "Smaller, Faster, Stronger"

10.9 becomes 10.10

There will likely be an 11 at some point, but it doesn't have to be the next one.

7?

Or is it a graphic representation of a cliff from which developers will jump?

Could that grate pattern be a throwback to the Braun radio, maybe just a hint at iRadio? Stupid speculation, I know. I'm very excited for this event.

Well, new products have been thin on the ground for some time, so it makes sense!

Grate or great? Lets hope they still include a spell checker eh!

Possible iOS font face?

----------

they probably pay a fortune the graphic designer for this :D :D :D

Naa, it won't be as blunt as that. The graphic designer will be paid to create ideas and concepts for a host of publications rather than just for a "7" on a white background. I presume anyway.

Possible iOS font face?

I think we're definitely going to see it around the OS, but probably not for everything. The major problem with very thin fonts is that they are incredibly illegible at normal sizes, and to make them visible, the point size needs to be increased dramatically. For headlines, or better yet, banners, they are good, but for those little titles underneath app icons, it sounds like it would be much tougher. Because of that, I'm really interested in how they are going to implement very thin typefaces.

The 7 is on a perforated white background! This means that... the new Mac Pro is actually an iMac and will run iOS7. Revolutionary.

Mockup

Just made this mockup. Not as smooth, but damn it... It's good enough. Can't wait for Monday. :D

OMG. Look, it looks like a number SEVEN.

I bet this is a hint that the next iOS version will be 7.

I bet a lot of people who hope to see a complete eradication of skeuomorphic elements in OS X and iOS are going to be disappointed. I think the skeuomorphic elements will still be present, but drastically toned down to the point where they're perceived more in an unconscious way as opposed to the in-your-face approach taken in recent years. (I'm looking at you, iCal.) That's my theory on the faint dotted pattern on the banners.
