A new paint job is cool and everything but I want to see iOS opened up. Let me make third party apps default.

Apple won't open it up that far. Best you can expect is removing non core apps like weather and hopefully plug in support so things can be tweaked to small degrees. All still likely via the App Store etc.

By definition, Helvetica works perfectly almost everywhere. It's one of the most versatile fonts out there. Look around you, its everywhere!

But it sucks on documents. You can't use sans serif on documents.

I hope thin means thinner iPhone/iPad/MBA/rMB"P", not "end of cMBP".

It will happen one day. Count on that. But not likely right now. Tech isn't quite there yeah.

But within 4-5 years tops we'll have the Air and the Retina Pro as the MacBook and MacBook Pro

Panoramic blank space

I wonder if all that white space is really a projection screen? Otherwise, why so much for just a number? The "dots" are holes so people in the building it is in front of can still see out. They also minimize the affect of air flow behind the banner.

Anyone notice the perforated aluminum background?

aka Cheese grater ;)

New Mac Pro on the perhaps?

Rarely to never so they mix metaphors. Clues about macs tend to stay on the Mac focused banners.

This is likely more a nod to the ideas about minimal and light backgrounds. No more of this heavy linen or some apps in white, some black and some gray.

Here are iPad and iPhone 5 versions of the background for those who want it...

Edit: doesn't look too bad!
