Romney has had a hand in building some of the most recognizable and successful companies here today. Were some jobs lost? Yes. That's the reality of business. Imagine how many jobs would have been lost if the corporation failed.

It's time to elect a man who loves America, and who will put her back in her rightful place as that shining city on the hill. Romney, without question, will move us closer to that goal than Obama. A silver bullet? No. But he'll stop the bleeding, no doubt about it.

Yeah if you want high paying jobs sent to thailand, india, and china, Romneys your guy, Romneys vision is lower minimum wage and everyone working for $7/hr with no anything. Pre-emptively going to war with Iran for another decade and give us $7/gal. gas. Making sure he pays 5% in tax. This coming from someone so loyal and patriotic that he parks his money where drug lords and war lords do. Class Act, 23yrs of tax return released to McCain in 08, yet the American public are worth 1yr.

That was never a federal requirement and offered solely at the discretion of HC companies.

Also, it was only put in the bill because "no one" under 26 has anything other than McJobs that don't pay enough for real insurance in this "new economy".

Very strange when you see Facebook, Amazon, Exxon, Google, Microsoft and many others hiring sophomores out of college for 6-figures and not letting them graduate.

Insurance is pretty darn cheap for great coverage, even in this economy $225 for an individual with a $20 copay is pretty great.

Obamacare forces people to purchase HC insurance, also allowing HC Providers to charge higher fee's than they are now. On top of that illegal immigrants are not forced to purchase insurance, how can they if they can't find these people, but if they're injured they have 100% coverage.

I don't like Obamacare for many reasons, mainly that we are in the 21st century and don't even have the option of single payer HC.

As for immigrants, it would be wonderful to live in a country that takes care of human beings whom are hurt.

I want to live in a country where people are people and aren't unworthy of being treated as such because of where they were born. I care about HUMAN BEINGS, not nationality. If you come back with the "but we're paying for it!" argument I agree, we should have single payer that allows HUMANS to get treatments whenever needed, no questions asked.

You know, civilization?

Well this thread should be interesting.

No, it shouldn't. Why are we obliged to see, ON PAGE 1, specific information about the national elections of a single country?

Please put that on page 2 instead of staining the main website with this CRAP. I do not vote in the US and don't intend to, especially with such ridiculous candidates.

Are you gonna cover Iranian elections next or is this site that US-centric, even considering the wide number of non-US users?

AGAIN: take that off page 1, please.

I wouldn't despoil my lovely iPhone by putting either app on it.

I'm afraid, for me, ALL politicians represent a lower life form.

Their promises are total bulls**t. Promise whatever your current target audience wants...they're too stupid to notice that when you get into office none of the promises mean squat.

And I could really give a s*** who Romney's VP is!!

My normal misanthropy reaches infinite depths when it comes to politicians.

So, they can take both their apps and put them where the sun don't shine.

(Cranky old bastard, ain't I!!??):rolleyes::D

Clinton wasn't Republican... So last 2. Obama promised decreased taxes on low income and mid-income families and to tax higher income individuals. Well that has happened and actually he has increased taxes on lower income families. He also hired Wall St. Money Managers after claiming he never would <- in reference to this it was because he wouldn't accept $$ for positions. Well one of the top investors was a Wall St MM and he made him one of the tops of his council. Needless to say everyone can be bought and everyone has a price.

Not for nothing, but he is right. Last 3 Republican Presidents brought us recessions:

GWB: 9/11, Airline bailout, Medicare Part D, 2 wars, all unpaid for.

GHWB: S&L Crisis, unpaid war.

Reagan: Arms race, Star Wars, Iran-Contra, auto bailout (yes, Chrysler was BAILED OUT by Reagan!) and selling weapons to the Afghans, who would then use those same weapons on us 20 years later.

Just correcting history here.

Really? Obama was the only one out of his entire team (meaning his top advisors) that said go. Everyone else just wanted to not do it.

He had been leading and directing this operation for a full 9 months, how the hell can you say he didn't do anything?

Lets remember that Bush admitted to the press mere months after 9/11 that he's "not that interested in that guy (Bin Laden)", he was more determined to get us into Iraq for nothing.

Amen, brother, amen. It's amazing the amount of people seem to rewrite history in order to twist facts to their advantage.

However, I will state that I truly believe we have all been lead down a path in which the two party system has created a "Divide and Conquer" socio-political atmosphere in this nation. Instead of working TOGETHER, we are busy fighting each other over corporate news sponsored rhetoric while backroom deals are being made. Couple this with being handed the worst economy since the great depression and a Republican congress whose house majority leader publicly stated they will filibuster ANYTHING the POTUS sends they do not agree with and they have done just so. Poor attempts in making the POTUS appear inadequate only hurts US, the American people, the VOTERS, just so one party can save face. Everyone, on both sides, are acting like children.

Read John Dean's "Broken Government". An ex Nixon legal aide who wrote an amazing piece about how far the U.S. has fallen from grace. In the mid-20th century congressmen would stay in D.C., and they would work TOGETHER, regardless of their party line. There are many instances in which Republican's would assist new Democrats (and vice versa) in writing bills, even is they strongly disagreed with them. They didn't run back to their home states, they didn't play for the camera's and spread rhetoric such as universal healthcare is "socialism" (note: it's a socialized DEMOCRACY, I grew up in the U.K., it works, however, those other first world nations that are fairing FAR better than us in healthcare and education aren't spending 50%+ of their federal budget on their military, another topic that needs addressing, our piss poor foreign policy that revolves around countries fighting for control over oil), and they didn't push aside bills or filibuster just to play to their own "team".

Now that the Robert's Supreme Court passed a ruling recognizing corporations as "persons", you can kiss campaign reform goodbye as corporations have a golden ticket to give as much financial funding to any political group/figure they wish, thereby placing their divested [corporate] interests further into our government. Of course the newly appointed conservative Justices pushed this agenda, while moderate Justice Ginsburg was devastated. If Romney wins, there are two Justices up for retirement meaning two life term Justices will need to be elected. As this would give Republicans full control off all the houses, we would be screwed. I'm a moderate and I would feel the same if a Democrat controlled congress was in control with a Democrat POTUS. We need more checks and balances!

As for the economy, I'm ashamed we are trailing in environmental policy. We could easily develop a new green economy based on renewable, sustainable energy. A friend moved to Israel for a job in marketing for a company producing green tech. I had no idea that Israel is the leading nation in green energy, with Spain trailing behind. There is so much we could do; the job creation alone would be enough for climate change naysayers to think twice. Not getting into specifics regarding hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (which our Army has been using for many years now in NYS, as well as Toyota, Honda, FORD having vehicles in California, Florida and Texas, with hydrogen extraction being done in solar paneled stations that do not tax traditional fossil fuel burning sources as electric cars do, and with a simple byproduct of water vapor or clean water after the chemical propulsion - I could go on), there is so much out there we aren't tapping into as we're stuck slurping down oil from Exxon/Mobil, BP, etc. like it's going out of style while they make record profits. There is no reason we can't be working towards a better system, for the economy and the planet.

The fact is, we need to stop fighting each other, start thinking for ourselves, learn to listen to each other, not get so heated, and work WITH each other. I know we all want the same things, I know this, we're just too caught up in the emotion and fear mongering rhetoric that we are blinded to it.

The thing Obama did wrong in his first 2 years was to think that the Republicans would compromise on anything. He tried to work with the Republicans, but they blocked everything he tried to do.

In the past 2 years, Obama is actually getting things done his base is in favor of, such as health care.

I find it hilarious that you don't realize that he had a filibuster proof majority in the senate the first two years. And foisting a multi-thousand page piece of legislation, fraught with loopholes for political allies, on the American people without the benefit of open debate is hardly something to be proud of.

He didn't.

He had 56 Blues. 2 were independent, bringing his tally to 58. One was blocked from taking his dutifully elected seat by lawsuits over recounts (Al Franken) for nearly 2 years. there's 59.

One was sick to the point of death, and missed out on most if not all of the sessions the first two years (Kennedy).

Rather hard to have a 'filibuster-proof' majority when 2 were volatile enough to go either way, one was blocked, and one dead. So you may want to rethink that.

I'm pretty sure Clinton had the ability to, and didn't. Obama took a risk, and he deserves credit for it. Why don't you want to give him credit? Lincoln gets credit for ending slavery, even though it was his troops that faught. That's how idioms work in English.

Probably someone else. Chances are that guy didn't repair the roads either. Like Obama said, you didn't build it on your own.

No, but he paid his fair share of taxes to get the basic necessities in life like a freakin road.

You're right. Us civilized citizens are entitled to everything we should want or need. That's what our government is for! It makes no difference if there are not enough resources to provide, we're entitled because we're civilized!

Oh dear. <face palm>

At least you got the "You're" correct. I have hope for you.

I'll let the facts speak for themselves.

Aside from those items which are either standard inanities any president would do (such as note the 100th birthday of a deceased ex-president), those items which he was coerced into approving (such as permitting firearms possession in federal parks), and outright falsehoods (such as closing Guantanamo), I'm not seeing anything which qualifies as "accomplishments". Certainly nothing on there major he promised such as "cut national deficit and/or debt" and "reduce unemployment to normal levels (under 6%)".

He was a community agitator. Getting sheeple riled up against "the man" for his own benefit (See U.S. Senator from Illinois et al.)

Oh please, Romney takes all the business money he build and hides them overseas. He will not get us any closer what Obama was or is trying he would just give it to all the Joe the Plumbers out there. He probably donate all our Tax money to Fox news for support. Neither Romney or Obama are great politicians but Romney is all about feeding the rich, well fine feed the rich and guess what all the bottom people will not be there for your business and lets see how well it would be when you got no one to clean your toilet bowl with full of shït.

Not to mention that government has no business getting involved in marriage or abortion. Government keeps getting bigger and bigger under Obama and another term won't change that.

Oh yeah, because it's Republicans that don't try to prevent gays from marrying, or limit your right to an abortion, correct?

Oh, no, wait, that's not right.

---

GOP never ceases to amuse me. "We want small government, less government intervention, less presence in people's lives... but we don't want you getting an abortion. No, it's against our religion, so that would be bad. And no gay marriage either, it makes us queasy. But yeah, less government intervention is goooood...."

You're in PRSI. Citation for this, please. And a credible (read: nonslanted) source.

Exact quote:

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business. you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

Not really a logical point to make. If the Mormon prophet really wanted to subvert American politics, he probably would have done so already with some key players who are already Mormon. But so far, I don't see many people claiming that the Senate Majority Leader is taking orders from Salt Lake.

You mean like basically taking over an entire state and massively influencing many of the surrounding states? You mean like sending people to congress and the Senate from Utah, and other states nearby, who do the prophet's bidding?

Just a question...where do you think the dollars to build and maintain those roads, utilities, bridges, and other infrastructure come from? Unicorn tears and pixie dust?

Obama hasn't a clue how an economy works. Not surprising, given that he's never had a real job in his life!

I've had a real job. I'm actually well versed on these things, and I can tell you with full confidence that the economic policies of the Republicans in the last 30+ years doesn't work, never has worked, and was doomed to fail from the beginning. Our most prosperous times in this country were when we had a thriving business community with the best aspects of capitlism AND simultaneously, the best aspects of socialism, dictatorships, oligarchies, etc... We are a melting pot, and that included government.

These right wing loons who swear by capitilism are throwing away our American history for their own financial gain.

I am against government healthcare, mainly because it forces everyone to purchase Obamacare and not a HC provider of there choosing.
No it doesn't! Seriously, you start with an outright fallacy and you expect anyone to listen to you. Do you have a clue what you're talking about. Come back when you've got at least a kindergarten level understanding of these issues.

It also imposes small companies with 2 employees to provide healthcare (mind you a more expensive hc package) for that 1 employee.
Again, NO. It only imposes additional requirements on businesses that have more than 50 employees, and provides all sorts of incentives. If Obamacare was so damaging to small businesses, then explain why so many small businesses were adding healthcare after Obamacare was passed? You can't because you don't know what you're talking about. Can you?

Removing the Pledge of Allegiance from classrooms is the joke. Our Founding Fathers would be ashamed! In the Declaration of Independence God is mentioned 4x, and Christianity is what our country was founded on. I'll stop my rant there.
Wow, you really don't get it. Some of our founding fathers were Christians, but they went out of their way to ensure morons who think God has to be in government couldn't do that.

Give me something he didn't do right...
The man was on vacation for most of his presidency. He was a disgrace of a president. Why don't you tell me something he did right.

Now Clinton I think is probably one of the worst, mainly because he tried selling secret F-16 codes / blueprints to China and Russia to help bring down our debt.
Really? Do you have a cite for that?

Obama promised decreased taxes on low income and mid-income families and to tax higher income individuals. Well that has happened and actually he has increased taxes on lower income families.
Again, you don't have a clue what you are talking about. President Obama has lowered taxes to historicly low levels. There hasn't been an increase on taxes paid by lower income families. Are you just making this stuff up? Do you work for FoxNews or the Romney campaign because it appears that you have serious problems with reality. Cite is required for these kinds of wild statements that don't jive with reality. Please, educate us.
