It’s a subscription app with a costWhy indeed? How does a YouTuber make money in the first place?
The subscription revenue was just a greedy little extra. The real value, if a reasonable percentage of his supporters had downloaded the app, would have been the userdata which would have been a very lucrative product to sell on to marketing services. It’s a subscription app with a cost
They also assume people care what they think. When these people start to get paid for things their opinions and suggestions seem to be worth less.I do feel bad for YouTubers in general. Everytime I see posts on X by a YouTuber like MKBHD saying "I have a lot of thoughts, video tomorrow", they're in the state of attempting to monetize everything that they can because that's the only thing they can monetize in their career. So now comes the wallpaper app after people kept asking him "hey where did you get that wallpaper?" and MKBHD couldn't resist monetizing that too.
Sad mindset.
I guess the millions he's getting from reviews and free products is not enough. He wants more $$.$12?
Jesus…
The idea was niche and not great but acting like we should not hold companies accountable for using costumers a beta tester and for releasing crap products is ridiculous.how's it feel, Mr BROWNLEE? to have your product reviewed badly?
" turn Panels into the vision that he had."
there's a vision?
People always complain about AI slop but then don’t want to pay for real human work.It never made much sense to me when google images is a thing.
It was #1 in the both Apple and Google's app stores and had over 2 million wallpaper downloadsI’m sure it’s 10 subscribers are very upset 🙄
Not true. People are generały happy to pay for things that they consider are worth paying for.People always complain about AI slop but then don’t want to pay for real human work.
lol no it wasn’t.It was #1 in the both Apple and Google's app stores and had over 2 million wallpaper downloads
Im guessing so he could sell off your data and make money .Why would an app like that need to harvest so much data
Presumably some percentage of his 20 million subscribers care what he thinks…They also assume people care what they think. When these people start to get paid for things their opinions and suggestions seem to be worth less.
