Joba is on a pitch count and will only make 6 or 7 more starts.

PS Bruney sucks.

Meh. If he keeps pitching this way, I say let him throw...he's a big boy. Of course, if Hughes can take his success from the bullpen with him to the rotation and Joba steps right into his setup role, all is well.

And agreed, Bruney sucks. REALLY sucks. Its Farnsworth II...

I don't like pitch counts either, but for some reason they feel that Joba can't handle it. /shrugs. I don't remember any other pitcher that has been coddled more.

I think he meant that the "Expos" no longer exist, but still have more upside...

Surely is more of a hockey guy, gotta cut him some slack.

JFTR, I knew what he meant, I just wanted to take it somewhere else.

The Expos still exist- they just have a different name and play in a different city.

No slack...... but as TDD suggests, I am more of a hockey guy.

I'll be surprised if Doc is traded by the Ricarddi deadline.

As a Twins fan, I am both happy and bummed about this. We don't have to face him anymore, but I will miss his bizarre one-sided war against Carlos Gomez.

And the Phillies just got way good.

And the 2014 Indians just got good.

Reports are coming out that Cliff Lee to the Phillies is almost a done deal:

Foxsports:
The Phillies have reached agreement with the Indians on a trade that would bring them left-hander Cliff Lee and outfielder Ben Francisco for Class A right-hander Jason Knapp, Class AAA right-hander Carlos Carrasco, shortstop Jason Donald and catcher Lou Marson, according to major-league sources.

Also, Seattle and Pittsburgh have made a trade:

Well, time to pull out the perennial expression for all things sports in Cleveland: "maybe next year"....or next year, or next year, or next year.....

:(

Well, ortiz is a hypocrite

I wonder if he still supports a full season ban for steroid users like he said in february

David Ortiz said:
I think you clean up the game by the testing," Ortiz said. "I test you, you test positive, you're going to be out. Serious. I know that if I test positive for using any kind of substance, I know that I'm going to disrespect my family, the game, the fans, and everybody. I don't want to be facing that situation, so what I will do, I won't use.

Just gonna grab my popcorn....

Whoops.

Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, lawyers with knowledge of the results told The New York Times.

The two were key members of the Boston Red Sox World Series teams in 2004 and 2007.

No real surprise there, eh? They should just release all the names and be done with this.

I wonder what is going to happen to these lawyers. I am pretty sure it was made unlawful to talk about. I don't know how many lawyers worked on this case but I can't imagine it would be hard to find out.

Which sorta, leads to my next point. This is just another black eye on the Selig administration. Bud really needs to get the **** out. He can't control this league anymore and he messed up enough. This is just what I believe.

IMO, anyone caught using steroids should be banned from the MLB for life, any records they have removed from the record books, and any teams that they played for during the periods of use be stripped of any pennants and world series championships. Sounds harsh, but it should be zero tolerance. A short suspension (which they probably get paid for anyways) is just a slap on the wrist.

The problem is when this list was done in 2003 it wasn't illegal in the sport. You can't go back and ban things that happened before 07.

I agree. At this point the only reason someone would leak the list is to get their ego stroked by a reporter. I'm with Torii Hunter (among others) who said let's just release all the 2003 results or seal it so this stops. It's getting ridiculous.

The one thing that still gets me is that the players knew in 2003 that steroid testing would only begin if more than 5% of the players tested positive in the anonymous testing. Didn't the players' union reps point out to them that if they laid off the 'roids for one year, that testing and penalties probably wouldn't happen at all? That they could resume juicing without worrying about getting caught and they could continue the power-hitting free-for-all? So stupid.

It's possible that the union reps DID point that out to them. My guess is that the players that were juicing just didn't care about anyone but themselves and padding their stats so that they could get paid more. Or they were hoping that other players would stop juicing so that the percentage would come down.

As much as the improved performance resulting from steroids helped those players' teams, I think that they were doing it for more selfish reasons- to help themselves and their contracts.

Quite frankly, I don't give a rat's ass if someone is juicing. Barry Bonds is one of my favorite players of all time, the homerun race brought baseball to my life. I couldn't care less. Most people only think the steroids are bad because ESPN says they are.

Nice move for the Sox...he can give Varitek a rest at C, play 1B and Youk can move to 3B or give Ortiz a day off at DH.

Not a bad move considering Bucholz, Bard and Westmoreland are still Sox.

Def. sigh of relief that they didn't get A-Gon though.

Apparently San Diego's demands for A-Gon were outrageous.

Sox will move LaRoche mow I assume.

Can't blame the Padres on wanting the moon for A-Gon. He's an awesome ballplayer, cheap, consistent and the face of the franchise. I think they'll eventually move him as I don't think he'll resign unless the Pads show signs of improving.

EDIT: Wow...Pads traded Peavy to the WS again and this time he approved. I'm sure the Pad's fanbase doesn't like the move...might as well deal A-Gon now...
