**** joe maddon.. why couldn't he put in wakefield? he should have pitched instead of papelbon

Unless he's already to the Sox by then :) Really hope the Yanks don't get him in the second half.

halladay isn't worth the prospects the sox would have to give up for him.

although a postseason rotation of Halladay, Beckett, and Lester would be dominant.

The last report said that the 2 teams with the best chances after Halladay are the Yankees and Phillies.

The Phillies also signed Pedro.
The right-hander signed a one-year contract with the Phillies on Wednesday and will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a mild shoulder strain. It hasn't been decided when or where he will start a rehabilitiation assigment.

According to The Associated Press, Martinez has agreed to a $1 million, one-year contract.

Absolutely not..You're basically paying for a year and two months of Halliday. not to mention Beckett will be up after 2010 (signed thru 09 w/a club option for 2010)

The Phillies also signed Pedro.

Pedro was done when he left the Sox..Not much tread left on those tires..

Now if Bay gets to free agency, that could get interesting..

Complete and udder Bull#$%! That ump is blind!

Twinkies robbed!

Instant replay would have changed the outcome of this game...

Ha Robbed? Maybe.... The Ump was just ready to go home. (Cuddy was safe, I know) However there is no way that the Twins should give up a 12-2 lead. They just don't have it... Casilla doesn't deserve to be on a major league team and the Scott Baker syndrome seems to be wearing of on everyone. (all the pitchers do is pout, big babies!) Hope they can turn things around... good thing the rest of the division sucks just as bad!

the rays-white sox game is good right now (and when i say good, i mean the rays are getting whacked). burhle is owning this team.

update: after 7, still no baserunners for the rays.

So Mark Buehrle for the White Sox throws the 18th perfect game in history. I think the first in 5 years? Will have to check the highlights tonight.
The last perfect game was Randy Johnson in 04 with Arizona.

it was a great game, unless you're pulling for the rays, the hitters were popping out everywhere, and alot of ground outs. great game by burehle, and it was just under two hours. yeah, i calmed down a bit since the game ended, i was so mad when burrel got robbed of a hit with foul balls and got the ball caught to third. at that point i knew it was all over. and i thought kapler got a homer but wise robbed the home run.

funny thing is that the rays broadcasters were talking about no hitters since the 4th inning, with the trivia question and trying to jinx the nono. nice job by mr. burhle.
