Dodgers were shut out in game 3 at home! Love it!

And the Dodgers won game 4 in extra innings. Looks like this series is a toss up so far.

The AL East was maybe the weakest division this year.

I think it's more that the Red Sox and Yankees were so good.

While the Red Sox won 108 and the Yankees 100 if they don’t produce in the playoffs it means nothing.

That is true but, at least in the case of all the Red Sox games I watched, the Red Sox were on cruise control the last month or so of the season. Rather than trying to pad their wins, they were getting players (especially pitching) rested for the playoffs.

Does MLB not care about rules anymore? And why have a replay system if it’s not going to get the call correct.

Well I know I won't be watching if it's the Dodgers -vs- Red Sox World Series Matchup. :(
I’m done with baseball for the year. It’s obvious that they don’t care about the integrity of the game anymore.

There were two issues

1) Was he interfered with on the catch.
2) Was he in the field of play when he attempted the catch.

I can't find anyone that disagreed that the fan reaching for the ball closed Betts glove and prevented a catch. That's not to say that Betts wouldn't have dropped it but the fan definitely prevented the catch.

On the second issue, the angle of the replay did not show conclusively that Betts had his hand in the stands. If Betts hand was in the stands, it would not have been called interference. The current replay rule states that the on field call stands if the video is not conclusive.

I myself could see the call going either way and would not have complained if they called it a home run.

I'm not sure how you arrived at that conclusion. The umpire made a controversial call and the video evidence was too inconclusive to reverse it.

If anything, MLB should add more replay cameras.

Game 5 should be interesting with Houston starting their best pitcher and the Red Sox having to scrape up one.

I didn't see the game, as I was in karate yesterday/last night but I was surprised to read that the starting pitcher for the Brewers was pulled after 5 pitches. I think Counsell go too cute and it burned him. They're now painted into a corner with a must win game against a very potent Dodgers team

Counsell pulled starter Wade Miley after he walked Dodgers leadoff man Cody Bellinger on five pitches. Miley is a lefty, as is Bellinger, but most of Los Angeles' lineup was composed of right-handed hitters.

Really??? you think this one call means they don't care about the integrity of the game? Seems like a rather extreme response. I do think it was a bad call, and I don't understand why they notched an out. I was not watching the game (as mentioned above).

Bad calls are part of the game, and I do not see how you can say they're ruining the integrity of the game, Joe West called fan interference and that was confirmed by replay. Where is the integrity of the game impugned? I agree it was a bad call, but baseball is rife with bad calls, and if anything that's part of the game.

I didn't think it was a bad call but it was a definitely a controversial call. The rules read that if a fan interferes with a probable defensive catch (an out), an out is called. If a fan reaches out in the field of play it is interference while if the player attempts a catch outside the field of play, it is not interference. The umpire ruled that the fan prevented the catch (confirmed on replay) but the replay was inconclusive where the interference occurred. If the fan reached over the wall, it was an out. If the outfielder reached over the wall, it should have been a home run. If anything, MLB should look at this rule some more.

The video replay did not confirm the call since it was inconclusive that the fans were reaching into the field of play. In the case of inconclusive video, the call on the field stands.

If you didn't see the game, check out these videos

Steve Pearce attempting to catch a foul ball. I'm surprised he didn't kill himself :(.

Benintendi catch for the final out with the bases loaded.

Betts throwing out a runner.

Reddick making a great catch with the bases loaded.

Well, Manny Machado has used the big stage he is on to reveal to the sports world that he is a dirty player. He also let us know that he doesn't like to hustle. He'll be a free agent this off-season. I wouldn't want him, would you?

This article shows that the Yankees would want him.

Most players seem to get worse after they sign the big contract. You think his hustle is bad now :).

Crap.... Now forced to root for the Red Sox because I’m an American League guy.

Same here as far as always rooting for the American League no matter who is in the World Series. I would have rooted for the Yankees in the World Series if they were in it this year.

My priority every year in baseball is
Red Sox
American League East
American League

Screw that I root for who ever isn't the Red Sox.

We can tell :).

Go Brewers! I changed my mind I'll watch the WS if the Dodgers win, but I will be rooting for Boston because there 3-4 former Detroit Tigers on the team.

Maybe a little but I believe many players just resent other players that are paid more (especially if they think that they are more valuable then the other player).
Guess I'm rooting against Machado's team in the WS, although I'm a National League guy. If my Cubs sign him, I'll really be in a pickle.

I picked the Dodgers to win the World Series at the start of the year :)

You might be right. I think the Red Sox might be favored but that doesn't mean too much.

I was actually hoping that the Brewers won the series because I'm going to be sleep deprived watching the World Series games when they play on the west coast :).
