i am bummed too that he is retiring, he did alot for the Mets. he is a clutch player and all-star. i would also like for him to stay on the team but in the back office or coaching. #ThankYouCap #Mets

Listen to the most recent "Shea Anything" podcast. All signs are pointing to him staying with the organization in the front office someplace but he has no desire to manage the team.

Some little league fields have fences that are...
Just sayin' ;)

[doublepost=1538326761][/doublepost]Crazy day of baseball in the NL! I’ll be watching both division races split screen on my Apple TV

Very exciting end to the regular season.

And I am rooting for chaos and hoping for 2 tie breakers tomorrow! :p:D

Dodgers, Rockies, Brewers, and Cubs are all winning! Then we still have the wild card games.

This might top 2011 as the craziest last week to a baseball season ever.

Can someone please explain why baseball has these ridiculous tie-breaker games? With a 162 game season, baseball can’t come up with some tie-breakers that don’t require playing a 163rd game?

It beyond stupid. The loser of the Rockies/Dodgers game plays in the wildcard game on Tuesday.

And don’t even get me started on the idiocy that is the Wildcard game.
They’re lucky they get a shot at all. Back in the old days, you had to win the division to make the postseason. If you came in anything other than 1st, you’re SOL

Teams used to phone it in because they could win the wild card. The one and done play in game makes winning the division more important.

When MLB initially talked about expanding the postseason, I balked because I didn't want it to become like the NBA were almost every team made the playoffs and the playoffs became a 2-3 month ordeal.

But I do like the format they came up with. One and done game. As you said, it puts a lot of important on winning the division. We all remember when the Yankees "blew" that huge lead they had against the Rays. That loss meant they would be the wild card team and face the Twins in the ALDS which was the easier team to face in the ALDS vs the Tigers I believe it was. The Yankees then promptly swept the Twins. So the division now means something and the wild card isn't used for a teams advantage.

It also doesn't mean the AL East will dominate the postseason because it also usually was the Red Sox or Yankees getting the wild card slot in the old format.

That move surprised absolutely no one - it was not if but when the boom would be lowered on him
I don’t think the team being bad was his fault though. They don’t have a farm system. Handed out some horrible long term contracts. The team is a mess for the next 5 years.

No, but then you can't fire the team, so someone has to pay. The question was, will the GM keep his job, the quality of the farm system is his responsibility

Everyone’s saying the A’s look like a team of destiny. They looked that way in 2002 too.

Expecting a big Yankees win tonight.

On TV, they mentioned that the A's were 30th in the league this season in many stats when facing a pitcher that throws around 97 MPH. It wasn't surprising that they couldn't hit tonight.

I would be pretty bummed now if I was a Cubs fan. Losing both the tie breaker and wild card when they could have been on the top of their division.
