When both the Red Sox and Yankees are good at the same time, there's nothing like it. Giants and Dodgers are not too far off, and last season's NL West race and Divisional Series were both very intense affairs, but the biggest fanbases and inherent East Coast media biases made the New York / Boston clashes bigger and more momentous.

In all honestly, I wish the Giants had faced off against one of those teams in 2010, 2012, or 2014. I mean, a trophy is a trophy at the end of the day, but beating one of those teams would have meant even more.

If the Giants continue playing like they have the last 5 games, they won't need to worry about being in playoff contention. They have looked atrocious, and the defense and bullpen have been an issue all season long. I don't think the Giants should sell the farm to get Soto, and hopefully Crawford, Longoria, and Belt retire at the end of the season and the Giants can go out and get a big free agent signing like Judge.

Yeah I really didn't care for any of our WS match ups. I'd love to beat the Yanks or Red Sox in the fall classic.

Those would have been classic match ups.

The Tigers are old school so that was kinda neat.

Getting to Verlander and having Miggy strike out looking to end it are two memories I will never forget though. As for Texas and KC, yeah there could have been better match ups.

The 2012 World Series was the most impressive, and that was the best Giants' team of the bunch. People forgot how good that team was during the regular season (4 All-Star Game starters) and fixated on the big comebacks they needed to beat the Reds and Cardinals. Meanwhile, the Tigers swept the Yankees and looked very strong. Pablo Sandoval's first two ABs in game 1 upset the narrative. When Sergio Romo threw a fastball that completely froze Cabrera for the series-clinching strike, I actually laughed out loud by way of celebration.

Ten years later, things are less rosy. The way forward is to build a new core though the farm system. That's how they built their winning teams, through homegrown starting pitching and a homegrown infield. That will require more patience, with their best youngsters still a couple of years away from the majors.

Completely agreed.

And just like that, the Yankees are no longer the best team in baseball.

They dropped off a bit, but the Dodger's (and Astro's) are also really good.

Record wise they are... but only by one game... ;) the Dodgers are looking good right now and so is that team from Houston.

I guess it depends on how you measure. ;) As of this post, they are tied with the Dodger's. Sort of. If they were in the same Division they would be. But the Dodger's are one game up in the Loss column and ahead by .003 in winning percentage.

Juan Soto to the Padres. Honestly, not sure what the fuss was about for this guy. He had a solid 21 homers, but is only batting .245. This whole "generational talent" thing, I don't get. To me, he's not a $40-50 million guy.

Win now, and at all costs, type move.

Damn. They got Josh Bell as well...

The "win now!" fever strikes again. Hope they don't regret giving up some good prospects for a two-plus-year rental.
