I’ve given up on being a fan of any team. The regular baseball season doesn’t interest me much anymore, I just take a look at the postseason for old times sake.

The reason I’m still interested in football is because it is the beautiful game… I appreciate the skill and artistry of a well executed passing move or goal. I like players like Jeremy Doku, Lamine Yamal, Bukayo Saka, Vinicius Jr. Really top quality football can be compared to a dance.

Winning and losing, there is only so long one can stay interested in that. It is all a pretence, a play, even the things outside the game matter less than we like to think.

There's your moment of zen..

And whom might that be?

It was an article on ESPN. Not from their talking heads who trade in bombast.

Even included comments from a Yankees official suggesting they are amenable, which I got a chuckle from, considering they're in the top 3 in payroll. Most of the owners are as well, but of course the MLBPA will fight it.

Nor does a cap without a floor force the cheapskate teams to spend more, so any potential promise of better parity isn't assured.

I'm starting to have similar sentiments about American Football.

The college game has openly turned into a money contest (and there's a high school student suing over NIL rights in Ohio, apparently one of only six states that don't permit it).

And though the statistics might say otherwise, the number of NFL players who have been injured, and will find themselves gimped later in life, seems to be rising, and has sapped some of my enthusiasm for watching such a meat grinder.

I agree, the violence of it, the short careers of many players and the fact that there is only approximately 20 minutes of action in a three hour game put me off it, although I liked the skill element of the very occasionally great catches.

Baseball may be a game of statistics, but it’s not violent.
