Mine(MMS) worked consistently since I downloaded beta2 (about two days) and it worked up until 11:00am this morning.

Now it's not working at all. I have turned it off/on...

So maybe in the next couple of hours...
 
Still at a lost. I switched to an official standard unlimited messaging plan, the one that states MMS in the description. I am running 3.0 beta 2 and my ATT carrier file is v3.5. I've restarted the phone, switch off wifi, and still have not had any luck. I even received an ATT email to confirm my recent changes to the plan. The only step I haven't took is to actually call ATT, but I can't see why a block may still be on the account if the plan is correct.

I did the changes by putting the sim in an old razr changing acct features and even took the step of registering on the Media Net site.

I switched the SIM to a blackberry to change the package and it worked fine for a while on and off. Called AT&T and basically told them that I switch my phones and they asked me for the IMEI number of the iPhone and updated the switch and now everything works. They told me that since i switched that last phone was still registered, she added both IMEI numbers to the account.
 
Put the sim in an AT&T MMS phone, try the internet, and sending a MMS if you can then its AT&T. make a few calls, a text or two, then go to https://mymedianet.wireless.att.com/ and enter your phone number then tho code. then try the internet and MMS, if it works then put your SIM back into the iPhone and try and send a MMS. NOTE: you CAN NOT be on an iPhone Messaging Plan, switch to a regular plan, i suggest doing this at an AT&T Retail store.

I had MMS, lost it (changed the IPCC file, messed it up) got it back, then some reason lost it again, got it back this morning using the steps above

need help

Hey everyone, I'm an ATT Retail Agent so if any of you need to have your text message packaged changed from Iphone to Normal just shoot me a PM with your cell number and zip code and depending on your market I should be able to take care of it for you! I'm here at work until 5:30 today

try to send a PM but it's not an option under the name any other ideas how to do that?:confused:

are u on a 8 gig or 16 gig. 16GB
what location are u in the USA San Diego, CA
what plan are u on? 450 min + Data + Standard (non-i) texting.
did u restore from a backup? Yes
did u edit any files? On 3.0b1, i Did, but nothing for b2

My carrier says 5.0. I called today and told them i wanted a standard texting plan so it will work on other phones. my MMS did NOT work for a whole hour and a half. I had to wait and keep trying til it actually did. Give it time.

A lot of people think switching it between phones works, but the time you spend doing that is what is doing the trick. Give the system time to update your changes.

I don't know if it's just me or what, but ...

Mine appears to be working within 3G coverage areas and NOT when I only have Edge. I am unable to send and receive MMS at my house (no 3G, but i DO have wifi), but I was able to send and receive while standing in the AT&T store (where there IS 3G but not connected to wifi) -- yep, I went there to see what was up with my account and if they could make sure I was on normal texting and when I went to demonstrate what I was talking about, it went through. I turned 3G off and it wouldn't work.

It seems improbable (to me) that MMS can't be sent over Edge because every other 99 cent phone can send MMS and I KNOW they don't use 3G. I'm just reporting what's happening for me with MMS.

currently mine has stopped working. i think the switching SIM to a different phone fix only tricks the system for a little while. I'm going to give AT&T another call.

Three hours later I've still got nothing. I can clearly see on my AT&T account page that I'm on the normal Unlimited Messaging plan and not the iPhone Text plan, I've turned the phone on and off countless times, turned airplane mode on and off, wifi on and off and even MMS on and off several times and no combination of them can get it to work.

When I first initially got it activated today at the AT&T store, I went out to my car and tried one immediately and it seemed to hang and sending like 90% for almost 2 minutes and then it failed, now it only takes like 20 seconds and gives up, so it seems like I've lost progress instead of gained some.

Oh well, I Guess I'll keep trying :confused: :(
 
Ok, it's back on!!

But this is a BETA, and so I understand. The rest of the OS is very stable: copy/paste, GPS, etc..

So, that's really what matters. My phone is not crashing.

I have 16GB phone - 3.5 carrier file installed. Called a friend that worked @ the AT&T store, and he changed my text plan for me to the standard. This was about 8 hrs ago. Still nothing. Any suggestions?
Seems like people have been getting it to work by switching the SIM out, but I don't have another AT&T phone to try it. Maybe I will find someone tomorrow...

then--

I would plug my phone into the computer. Sync it. (don't restore, or anything, just sync)

Then unplug. Turn the phone OFF for at least a minute and turn it back on.

Did that work?
 
Tried that... didn't work. Maybe I'll just try switching my sim out tomorrow. I want MMS pretty bad, but I'm still just pumped the new beta is pretty stable. (a few times I've had some issues, but nothing major, just exited the app and it was fixed).

I'm in the same boat as you are. Its been over 8 hours since I had mine changed, restarted, synced it with the computer, wifi on and off, MMS on and off, still nothing and I don't know a single person on AT&T that doesn't have an iPhone :rolleyes:

Lets hope tomorrow brings me a surprise!

everyone that hasn't tried this needs to, I am now able to send mms message after i signed up on that site. I talked to a person at at&t and they said that mms as of right now send through media net, and since the iphone doesn't have media net you have to have a family plan with phones that aren't iphones or do what is said above.

Only difference from above is that i wasn't able to get online or send an mms message from the other phone but when i tried on my iphone I was able to.
 
when i try to sign up for MEdia net it tells me my phone number isnt valid for media net.

It said the same thing when my SIM was in the treo and was recognized on my ATT account as a treo.

my MMS works off and on, if it doesnt work i generally just reboot and then it'll go through.

Still hit or miss if the recipient actually receives it though.

hrm that's odd. honestly i feel liek i have read every post on the matter and you are the first person with family messaging who hasn't had it working in beta 2.

in other news it did start working on my phone. i guess it just took some time to start working through the network, but i just sent myself 3 picture messages and received them.

I am also on ATT Family Plan with Unlimted Family Text, and carrier 3.5, and it has not worked, at all.

Not once.
 
Still no luck with MMS for me. I tried resetting the network settings in hopes that maybe that would hard-restart my phone's MMS but still nothing.

I don't have another AT&T phone to do this Media-Net thing on, so I can't try that method. The only other thing I have to try is restoring my phone as a new phone with 3.0 beta 2 and hoping that works. Pretty frustrating since it seems like everyone else has no problem getting this to work.
 
Yesterday it seemed to only work with 3G and no wifi. Today I got it to work over Edge while not connected to wifi and then again later on Edge with wifi on and connected.

Can we say "fickle?"
 
I went in to my local AT&T store today to change to a standard texting plan and the sales reps told me I am not allowed to have a non-iPhone texting plan and refused to change it. Guess I'll just wait for summer to get that function working.
