I have have mms working on beta 2 will send and recieve to sprint and att customers. can send to tmobile but not recieve. and can recieve from verizon but they dont get mine even though it shows it sent it. i have 2 iphones on a family play with family unlimited. it is patchy though sometimes it works sometimes it dont. but it does get better everyday.

Agreed. The MMS is working for the most part. It seems to prefer that I send EXISTING photos, rather than TAKE a photo while in text mode.

Honestly, the COPY/PASTE and MMS are fabulous, and if nothing else was improved, I'd be happy with that!

I've Done It!!!

After over two weeks, i finally have mms working on my iphone.

-I'm on a 16 gig iphone
-I'm in San Diego, CA
-Before I started, I restored and setup as a new iphone.
-I didn't use any ipcc files(carrier show as "AT&T 3.5" in the general->about)
-I Changed my plan from the iphone 200 text plan to the non-iPhone unlimited text plan (the way I did this was I put my sim in a regular phone, logged into AT&T online. When I logged in it had me with an iPhone pictured. I clicked on the "Not Your Device?" link and put in what phone I was using, happened to be the Nokia 6230. I then logged out of the AT&T website, surfed on the net for about two minutes and logged back into the AT&T website. This time it had recognized my phone as the Nokia. I went into the "Manage My Features" page and I had the option of moving my plan from the iPhone 200 text to the regular unlimited messaging bundle, the $20/month one. I selected it, finished the add/remove feature steps and logged out).
-I followed the following instructions to a tee without having to call AT&T. On #5, you have to do that while the sim is in a non-iPhone phone. I found the link to MediaNet by searching "Media net" on AT&T's website. I DO NOT take credit for the following steps. I copied the following instructions from ieverythingcafe.com and ALL THE CREDIT goes to soosb21:

"1. get a mms phone like a old razor or something.
2. swap iphone sim card into it.
3. make a few calls and texts.
4. change text plan to unlimited messaging on att website
5. register with media net.
6. send and recieve on mms phone.
7. swap sim card to iphone.
8. try sending and revieving mms, should be albe to recieve at first and send later on.

good luck guys dont give up. att cant stop it. no need to call them tho"

Okay I want to make sure I understand this. If I call AT&T and make the change to my txt message it should work right? What I don't understand and if someone could explain to me what does this mean?

change my "iphone" texting plan to just "standard" texting.

If they change my current plan that I'm on (Family Unlimited txt) will I get charged for it or will it be part of my unlimited family plan?

Here is my plan right now.

You need to be on the new software (3.0b2). This won't work at all on 2.2.1 or lower versions.

if I don't want beta on my iphone would it still work if I switch my plan? I remember when I first got my phone I would get a alert to log into a site to view pix... don't know why it changed.

It changed cause you got the family text plan, lots of people have problems getting the viewmymessages text on the family unlimited text. If you don't want to beta, you could jailbreak and try swirlyMMS, otherwise call and complain to at&t about not receiving the MMS texts, maybe they can fix it.

Call At&T ya right so they could laugh at me... Do you guy thing once MMS comes out in June we might have to change our plan?

Other thing if I load the beta does that change my warrenty on the iphone?

Ok.

When you have the beta 2 software:

The reason you have to change your texting plan is because---ATT KNOWS that iphone doesn't normally have MMS. So the iphone texting plan doesn't include for pictures. The STANDARD texting plan DOES include for pictures because most ALL other phones (besides the iPhone) have MMS

If you do not have 3.0 bet 2 installed, you WILL NOT get MMS. This whole thread is not applicable to you.

For all the effort of switching SIM cards etc... It's probably quicker just to call ATT. I told them I was a beta tester, and they did it. No questions or problems.

I had MMS working on beta 1 after editing the carrier file. I installed beta 2 yesterday and had to do a restore from backup. MMS still works, and much better at that.

MMS- Yes, send and receive pictures haven't tried other file types yet
GB- 16
Location- Northern Louisiana
Plan- unlimited iPhone data w/ unlimited family text
Restore- Beta 1--No, Beta 2--Yes
Edit Files- Beta 1--Yes, Beta 2--No

Yesterday I loaded the new 5.0 ipcc carrier file on my 3.0 beta 2 iPhone, called at&t to provision my account for MMS, and got MMS working just fine. As of last night, MMS stopped working. I called at&t today and they said that everything is provisioned correctly. I have changed NOTHING since yesterday, why would it work for a while and then suddenly stop?

What do you mean provision your account? What did you ask them to do? did they change your plan at all? Does it cost any extra for them to "provision" your account?

Nope. You just call and ask them to provision your account to allow MMS. They have been blocking it since you are on an iPhone and they assume MMS isn't supposed to work.

called and it didn't work. The lady tried a couple of times and said everytime she updated it with the mms, it reset it to not allow it. Any ideas??

Yeah they just did it. If they hassle you, just say that you also have a blackberry and you need MMS provisioned so you can switch your SIM and put it in your blackberry and still receive MMS there.

OK, Just to clear something here. I have successfully sent a picture message on an iPhone text plan, I switched to family unlimited and sent one successfully. Sending picture messages are only work once every 18-20 tries. I have tries switching wifi/3g it almost seems like luck. I had a friend send me a mms from verizon, nothing. Had a guy send me one from Altell and I actually got this on the family unlimited.

MMS: 1/20 Times Working
Phone GB: 8GB
Location: Altoona PA
Plan: iPhone before, Family now
Restore from backup: YES, Downgraded beta 1 to 2.02(w.e) and reupgraded to beta 2
Edit Files?: NO

That's very strange.
My MMS has consistently worked and I have NOT been plugging my phone back into the computer. I mean I downloaded the beta 2 software, called ATT(to switch to STANDARD texting) and that was it.

I have been making my son send me pictures consistently through out the day (the only one without an iPhone)

my mms was working all last night and all this morning, but just now it stopped working.

Carrier 5.0
called att and had them change my plan.

called and the guy said if i switch to a blackberry data plan (the only way to provision it for mms, because the iphone cannot be provisioned, the computer won't let them apparently??) then i would have the possibility when i put it back in my iphone of getting charged for the data overage usage if i opened safari etc. So what i am wondering is how do all these people have have mms working but not me? I have a promotional texting plan through a fan discount, which i got through this forum. the '8.99 for 1500 txts' deal, which i beleive is not iphone specific, and yet it still wont work. Any ideas anybody? dont know what else to do

Ok, you weren't supposed to ask to switch to a blackberry plan, just say that you sometimes use a blackberry with your SIM, so you need MMS activated just in case you get an MMS when your SIM is in your blackberry. This is just an excuse for them to provision your account for MMS, in case they won't just do it already. Sounds like you got an idiot rep (not too uncommon with at&t). Just keep calling back until you get someone who knows how to provision your account to allow MMS. Also, make sure you are running 3.0 beta 2 and have restarted your phone once your account has been provisioned. This has all already been mentioned in this thread, don't know how much of it you have read though...

For anyone who has done all the steps and MMS still won't work, or it was working before and stopped, try turning off WiFi. Someone mentioned this earlier and I thought they were crazy but sure enough, MMS started working immediately. Here's what I did:

1. Turn off WiFi
2. Restart phone
3. Send an MMS to verify it works
4. If it works, turn Wifi back on
5. Send another MMS with WiFi on to see if it works

If it works on step 5, I think you've just fixed your problem. And I seriously doubt this was a coincidence since 10 seconds before I had turned off WiFi, MMS was not working. As soon as Wifi was off and my phone was restarted, it started working. Anyone techy understand why this might fix it?
