MMS is VERY near [pic]

I'm still stuck with carrier 4.0... Thank god for MMSbuddy application, without it I might have never kept my iPhone.

i have mms working on my ATT iphone 3gs.

i simply updated the carrier file to the version 5 one that gets you the camera button. then i put my sim in an old phone and made some calls. then put the sim back in my iphone and reset it. i then had to go change some network settings and an hour later my mms worked. have sent several messages to verizon friends and have received them from them as well. been working for over 48 hours now. no problems with visual voicemail or anything else for that matter. i am on a family text plan so i did not have to make any changes to that.

The whole point to this thread was that the message might mean that AT&T was finally giving us MMS officially. We all know there are tons of people who have it unofficially (for however long that lasts).

well i never got that message. so i can't answer anything of how long it will be. i have heard early august.

Same as me, but I changed my settings, too.

Assuming AT&T is so far away from giving us MMS it's not even funny.... which darn MMS hack actually works these days without losing visual VM, etc?

what does your MMS settings look like...under settings, general, network, cellular data network?

I got the same message when I first activated.

But my MMS works :)

When I got my phone at the Apple store the guy who took care of the sale handed my phone off to a girl (and I say girl cause she looked like she was 13) who hooked my phone up to their computer and got it going for me. That screen popped up but she deleted it right away and then put my phone back in the box and handed it back to me. Is there a chance that this is just an automatic message sent out as the phones are activated?

Yup (i guess)

Mhm, when i try to send a mms it just stops towards the end and errors out =(.

UPDATE: ok I was able to send A mms message. However, not long after did AT&T automatically set my phone back to the iphone. No matter how many times i try to change it to a MMS "able" phone it switches back. So, I can confirm it works for a short period of time and no longer then that. Also, anybody know why I am unable to see the MMS options in the network tab? I see the tethering tab and the rest of the defaults.

I expect a data/tethering pan for $60-$70 like the rest of the smartphones and black berries

Yep. And the whole forum will be taken over by complaints. Even if they discount it a bit - it's going to be ugly here. I question if many have a clue what's in store.

I will admit it is fairly ironic, the one set of people used to paying high prices (with the whole you get what you pay for phrase in mind) cry the loudest at phone/service prices.

It was probably a general message sent to people with messaging plans, I used to get them every other month with other phones.

Again, has anyone that got the message that prompted this post, then been able to get MMS? No hacks. Just "got a message from A&T about MMS" and then "able to use MMS". Anyone?

That sounds like just a general test message or something from AT&T. I doubt that it's coming soon; I've heard from reps it's near the end of July but what do that know, lol. I just know I'll LOVE it when it does drop!
