Safari 4. What's the cleanest method to go back to 3.1.1?
Use the uninstaller that came with the Developer build. If you dont have it you can download the package again by loggin into the developers site and clicking on Safari.

Just a brief note to say:
Tried for 24h to get into MobileMe but kept getting the invalid username/password error message.
I had tried changing password many times, but always to the same as the original.
Then I changed the password to a new one (i.e. different from previous).
THIS WORKED STRAIGHT AWAY! Thanks to all in this thread who suggested this.
Good Luck!
(Now to bide my time until I try and install the official 2.0 firmware, praying that I didn't mash up the phone with yesterday's unofficial 2.0 firmware! Any suggestions on when to try it?!)
KOOL AID slurping fanbois will have great trouble selling anymore of their "be patient / its' in transition / they never promised......" BS about Apple's dismal performance on this complex launch.
MM is down or slow as a snail - can't even get into my account page.
BTW - for clarity - it will be fixed - but this poor launch could of and should of been avoided.
Just got off the phone with Apple support. MobileMe is not working, or at least not working properly. For those that are able to login and work with the web apps, good luck. Now I'm on the phone waiting for iPhone support, but the messages indicate this wait is going to be a long one.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... this is an absolute failure for Apple. People can stop with the "it's still in a transitional period" or the "there were no promises made by Apple on when it would be working" junk. MobileMe doesn't work, and it's very clear that Apple can't keep it working, in a stable manner, for any great period of time. It might work properly sometime in the future, but it doesn't work now like it is supposed to.
Add to that the warnings that updating the iPhone might lead to disaster remind me of the launch one year ago. What a mess. What a joke.
There are warnings and news articles popping up in several locations that already blast Apple for this fiasco. They apparently didn't learn anything from last year, it seems.
Honestly can you wait until say Monday? What is it you need so bad that it cant wait? Was your current iPhone (if you had one) broken in some way? If you got a new iPhone, did you have to have it today?
Like anything else new and popular, in this world the "got to have it now" are going to whine every time with out fail. I dont care if its a new movie and people are lining up for it on day one, they will complain.
Honestly did you think it was going to be anything but a madhouse at the stores, on the phones, or on their web sites today? If not you have to be completely clueless.
I have an iPhone/.Mac account and I want the updates, but you know for my sanity, and the continuity of my current service, I will just sit here, drink a beer and watch you people go mad.
I bet when I do try Sunday/Monday I will have much fewer problems. Best of luck, I hope you have fun waiting on the phone.
In a moment of madness some months ago I trashed imail. Now I'm signed up to MobileMe I really need it again. I've looked. But can't seem to find it anywhere. Any ideas? I'm running 10.4.11. I'm not sure my imac can handle the upgrade to Leopard, its running super slow as it is.![]()
I have been getting my contacts 'pushed' from Mobile me to the iPhone, but what about contacts created on the iPhone. They don't seem to be pushed back to mobile me?!
Help please?
this caused all my contacts and calendar entries on my iphone to be completely wiped..... 3 times![]()

when am I going to be able to download the update that will bring the mobileme icons onto my computer? Any word on that?
if you still have your install disk, i think you can restore apps from that. see this apple support page: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1561
EDIT: i think this may be more what you are looking for: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1442?viewlocale=en_US
What were you thinking of? Anyway, I'm not sure you can do it from the install disks without installing the whole caboodle, but there is a utility you can download called Pacifist which allows you to select discrete bundles from an install disk and only install them. Well you could try it at least.
