Yes I made it, but I was partly inspired by another forumer member here whose name now escapes me (apologies/kudos to whoever that was) that used the term 'unibrow' in a post I read earlier... the thought stuck... ! :D

Edit: thanks to MR's search function, it was @Chupa Chupa who somewhat inspired it. :)

Thanks for the h/t. Glad to have juiced your creativity. Very nice. Next step: an actual case like that. Heh.

You did an awesome job! I love it. Lol, @Chupa Chupa is known for his clever and wry observations.

Thanks for the kind words. Too kind, but I'll take 'em anyway.

I hate the notch way more than I disliked the bezels. I know I must be so old to not care about those giant bezels but that cutout is hideous. This whole anniversary phone is turning into a half measure. Couldn't get TouchID or sensors under the screen, couldn't do real wireless charging, losing the iconic home button. I understand the tech isn't there yet for some of this, and thats fine, but why do we have to have a few extra centimeters of screen before the tech is ready? They say Steve was a d|ck but you would have thanked him when someone handed him this notched phone and he screamed at them and threw it across the room.
Apple has never claimed this is an anniversary phone — tech press did that.

And you don’t know that they couldn’t get touch id under the screen. If apple doesn’t do it, it’s because they don’t want it there. That’s for sure.

Hmmm it makes sense why they chose the beachy wallpaper for iOS 11. It leaves a nice empty space for the virtual home button. Smart.

These mockups are not very well thought, are they? Having a whole chunk of screen just to add one small circle in the middle defeats the purpose of not having bezels to begin with. I would suppose Apple will make better use of the extra space and not just create a "virtual bezel".

The status bar is completely pointless as it is, because most third party apps hide it and claim the screen space for themselves. Especially the games I spend the most time in, won't show me my vanishing battery life. Corners are a solution to the current lack of critical status information.
The status bar is shown 99% of the time.

The more i look at that notch...the more i dislike it. I can't believe that Apple would release a phone with such a awful intrusion of the display, I am hoping it will grow on me but it is a bit of an eyesore.
Black bar?

The 8 will go down as the Edsel of iPhones due to the way the camera pushes into the screen space. Very poor design choice here. Steve once said the user is not supposed to notice the engineering but this phone is an odd duck.

Same with Snapchat’s app regarding the curved corners. It won’t let me upload a screenshot but it has the same subtle curved corners before you take a snap so I’m taking it they won’t be as curved as shown in some of the renders.

A mock up. Or a cock ... amamie concept?

Either way, all will be revealed.in about a months time. Do something else of a distracting nature until then like ... er ... go outside. Or offer to take Mr Ronson next door' s dog for a walk. Or if he doesn't have one then -take Mr Ronson for a walk. He'd like that.

You see, Apple has really beefed up it's security big time to keep the guessers guessing. Or. There's nothing TO guess about. That really IS the 10th Anniversary iPhone. Ha ha. Yeah. I know.

So. Print off the image of the mock up now. Shove it in your wallet. Take it out after September's keynote. Hold it up against the final product and either shout ''Awesome man. It was uncannily accurate. I am not worthy'' or ''Good heavens. They certainly made a right cock-a-leekie (or words to that effect) of that one''

Those still unsure of whether to sell the cat and family valuables now in order to afford the upcoming phone would do well to quote the following mantra to themselves until the official launch date.

Don't Get In A State With The 8
Only 6 Weeks Til The Date
Best Leave The Result To Fate
For The Next 2 Years You Will Hate
Or Something.
Er ... that's it.
Thanks

(''That's enough mantras!''-Ed.)

Hopefully we have to 3D Touch the home button to close an app or I'm going to accidentally hit that all day long.

I believe we will. They've already trained us with a non moving home button on the iPhone 7. This leaves a double press for multitasking. Single tap for maybe something new. And double tap for reach ability (maybe they will show the full status bar here). We have no idea what Apple will do software wise and what could possibly change from previous behaviors. What if a tap and slide up on the home button will reveal multitasking. Maybe that's why they've removed 3D Touch from the side. There's so many things they can do with a software button that's on the screen.

I really like the idea of having the all black top bar with info such as date, time, reception, etc. I think I like it more than extending the image to that extra space; that looks awkward.

Only issue is the clock is a major mystery. It's going to suck if it's in the white/usable part of the screen, but it's also not really suitable to put it anywhere else.

Apple didn't get rid of bezels like Samsung.

This phone has reduced bezels.

Please Macrumors stop saying it's bezel-less

Yes they did.

Just through software they MAY make it appear as if there is a bezel that is actually not there.

Please ILuvEggplant stop saying Apple didn’t get rid of bezels like Samsung.

No they haven’t. The bezel is clearly visible and surrounds the entire display. Bezel-less would mean that the whole of the front of the phone is the screen - this definitely isn’t that.

On another note I think that the bottom of the display is totally wasted if only a small home button will exist in all that space!

my guess is that apple will rearrange back buttons and most hit targets to the bottom and place them either side of a phone button. I suspect the time etc and top bar will be fluid based on scrolling but I'm also unsure how they'll handle it. it's very possible the time might be moved to replace the wifi and carrier info entirely. We don't really need to know certain things at all times. They might even offer up an option to choose what you want to display there.

Eventually I think the sensor bar at the top will include an OLED in the middle between all the sensors to show time, maybe the next version.

You're in no position to define the meaning of bezel-less for everybody else.

It's really gonna be interesting how the will deal with the homebutton. On the one hand they kill the bottom bezel in order to gain more screen estate, but if they have to keep the entire space hight of the virtual home button clean like in these designs, it will all be in vain. But I dont agree with what some people wrote, that the home button will not be present. It's unimaginable that apple will give up the MAIN design functionality of ios since the beginning only for this particular iphone model and shift the home button functionality to a physical button on the side for example. the coolest thing would be some sort of sensor that registers if you hover your thumb over the screen and only then displays the home button or something.

This!

Sheesh, a lot of you are hung up on the clock, huh? Have we not put our faith into Apple finding elegant solutions to simple problems for years now? A simple thing as the clock placement is the problem now? Leaks a plenty, for sure. Some may be intentionally placed. They said that leaks bring them down because they like to be the first to reveal the features and details. That the leaks take the steam out of the announcement, essentially. I fully expect this to be a roose. The September announcement will feature a completely different phone. Maybe the same physical dimensions, so the case makers aren't in a rut, but the mockups won't even come close. I mean, come on, it's Apple we're talking about. Do you honestly think they came this far to show us how hard they can fail? I don't.

I just looked at the Galaxy S8, and all I can say is that the symmetrical small bezel at top and bottom is the sensible way to go.
