mute? wrong word bro.
Actually, I believe most people's comments are mute, unless they're using a screen reader. Perhaps you picked this up because of a recent LifeHacker posting on misheard expressions? It's what your comment made me think of.

While what you say is true about them being mute, we all know what he meant. I actually didn't see that article but am about to read it now. I just hate when people use phrases or words incorrectly. I used to have a boss who would type "for all intensive purposes" all the time in emails and it drove me up the wall.

Here's an example for the need of more mods.
This discussion has been going strong in the iPhone forum.
A 9/11 app..Gee. I wonder where that takes us.

It shouldve been wastelanded after 5 minutes.
We need a bot that just randomly picks and wastelands 95% of threads in iPhone forums
I'd probably end up editing people's posts because of poor grammar and spelling.
That's not a good idea. That might change the meaning and actually be quite offensive to people.
Interesting! A mod who breaks forum rules!I'd probably end up editing people's posts because of poor grammar and spelling.
Corrections. There is no need to point out another poster's spelling or grammatical errors unless you think it is causing confusion. Remember that not all members are native English speakers. Communication, not correctness, is our goal. Examples: Don't correct members who spell Mac in all caps or who call the iPod touch an iTouch. When other people (especially new members) fail to search and start new threads on old topics, don't scold them or make them feel unwelcome. The best way to be helpful is by posting a link to a relevant thread or specific instructions for problem solving. Set a good example yourself by searching first before starting a thread if you have a question that may already have been answered in the forums or you want to discuss a topic that may already have been discussed.
See? Offensive.

No way to tell.
If I were a mod.. I'd just go around TIMG every image and merging posts. I'd probably end up editing people's posts because of poor grammar and spelling! (sarcasm)
He always gets mad at users if they spell wrong or write a post/reply wrong. He also locks almost every new topic made.
Not directed at anyone specifically, and speaking from experience, but if there's one thing that's less helpful than watching obviously intelligent forum members digging themselves into a hole largely of their own making, it's then watching them carry that grudge around in a publicly obvious fashion.
No mods are perfect, but behaving that way, pointing out their mistakes in what is essentially a private matter, is a sure signal of receiving unwarranted further attention at a later stage. I know it's difficult, but trying to let things go is the best course.
I doubt there's many people who carry around a true grudge over an Internet forum-- I'm sure there are, but their reasoning is usually just as convoluted and incorrect as the person they so loathe.
