The problem with this method is that it is bad for the phone battery because it would be "topped-up" constantly.

The iPhone battery can not charge and discharge at the same time. Once a suitable external power source is introduced (be it your computers USB, a mains adapter or external battery) that iPhone goes into charge mode and will recharge the battery and power itself from the external power source. Once the battery is full the charge cycle will shutdown and the iPhone will continue to run off the external power.

Yes but by nature, the lithium ion/polymer would slowly discharge if it's not being used. Therefore, if you leave a 100% charged iphone running on external power (be it the JPA or a laptop), there will come a point wherein it will fall below the 100%. When it comes to this point, the external power source would "top-up" the iphone thus bringing it back to 100% charge. This cycle would be constantly repeated.

It's too short a time frame for that to even be an issue. With lithium based batteries quoted as having a self discharge rate of around 5% a month 32 hours running off the JPA would equate to a possible loss of less than 0.25%. Even if that were enough to drop it back into trickle charge again for a brief moment it would have no measurable impact on the normal life cycle of the battery.

all modern phones are recommended to be topped off as often as you can. ALL batteries will lose its full life, its just the nature of wear and tear. By the time, this phone's battery have lost a noticeable amount of battery life, iphone 7 will have already been out.

When I plug in the supplied USB cable to the case when the phone is in the case, I either get an error message that Itunes can't read my device and I should reinstall the OS, or it hangs during backup. The phone has no problems without the case. My phone is Jailbroken, so that might be the problem. Anybody else using the Mophie with a jailbroken phone?
I bought a couple of cables from Amazon and now it works fine.

I get the same error message with mine and the iPhone keeps on connecting and disconnecting. So I just remove the Mophie when I need to Sync my iPhone 4 and use the Micro USB cable when I need to charge the Mophie. Not really a big deal for me but it should at least work as promised.

Got the butterfingers syndrome last night and accidentally dropped my iPhone as I pulled it out of my pants pocket. It dropped on the hard wood floor and the top popped out. I inspected the IP4 and the Mophie and there was no damaged to both. Not even a scratch! PHEW! I really wish the top part of the Mophie could be snapped on more securely.

This is good to hear. Not that you dropped it but that it survived. I'm quite interested in the CASE aspect of the mophie. I had mine in an Ifrogz case and it took a spill from my side. It did not survive.
It's in an Otterbox Defender now. But I'm missing my old Mophie too...

case for Mophie juice pack

hi everyone, i go the JP as well, it's great!! does anyone come cross that i can buy a case or cover for it? THank you very much!!

Well ive had the case for 5 days now and I really like it. It is quite beautiful and compliments the phone well. It will be my most used case. I'd gotten 2.5 days standby and about 14 hours use out of it before I recharged. Now this was not because it was flat, just that I was going to need more than it had left, I do love my radio app :) Anyway my favourite case, although my Vapor will be needed for 'smart' ;)

Bought one at the AT&T Store yesterday. Supposedly, they will be in all retail locations this Sunday.

First thoughts:

-Bulky. Bulk-y. I haven't used a battery pack case before but it does add quite a bit of bulk. I don't mind so much the thickness but the extra 5 cm on the bottom combined with the extra thickness is just a little too much. Might be the deciding factor.

-It is very good looking. Craftsmanship is top notch.

-Fit is excellent and tight.

-Had a busy busy day yesterday getting in and out of the car using nav, data, calling, sms... I was at 20% buy 12:30. Flicked the on button and got me around 70-75% charge (I was using the phone while it was charging, btw) which lasted me the rest of the day. It was a lovely thing not having to plug in the car charger only to unplug it 15-20 minutes later after I got out of my car only to do the same thing the rest of the day, all the while not getting a very good charge. VERY convenient.

-As mentioned in other reviews, the holes are a tad bit too deep for volume control and power buttons. You have to go out of your way to press them. Annoying.

-Love the LEDs on the bottom, but not a fan of how they blink and then stay on when they are on the charger. Hopefully this is something I can change. I haven't had a chance to review the manual for this yet, but a little distracting when trying to go to bed. covering it up with a mag for now.

Going to give it a few more days, but if I had to guess I think I will return it. If they shaved just 3-4 cm off the bottom and made the bottom similar to the top, I'd be sold. Sad that it is just a little too big, but seems to be a very good product for someone who needs this functionality on a daily basis.

You're not going to find a battery case that doesn't add length as well as thickness. Its the laws of physics.
