I'm really curious about the sound difference that people have noticed when playing music or a game with the phone in the case. I just got my Exolife yesterday but I'm thinking about sending it back unopened and getting the Mophie. Has anyone found a good comparison of the 2? Youtube only seems to have mophie vs mili comparisons..

Just did a quick comparison of sound with the Mophie on vs. off while talking with my wife for a couple of minutes.

FWIW, testing the mike.....I took the case on and off twice during the conversation, and both times she said it sounds 'louder & better' with the Mophie JPA on the iPhone 4. She said it's 'sounds distant' when I take the case off. Always holding the iPhone the same....up to my ear while we were comparing. She is using a 3Gs.

Testing the speaker.....with the iPhone 4 in speaker mode & listening to a long voicemail, and taking the case on/off while the voicemail is playing....it sounds like there is a 'bass bump' or 'treble reduction' with the case ON. Very slight difference. Not a concern for me.

I just looked up Mophie's return policy on their website. They do appear to have a 30-day 100% satisfaction guarantee, so you can send it back if something isn't working sound wise for you....

Thank you outrigger. His question was "Did it have to be removed to be charged?" No it charges them both, in what order, who cares.

Unlikely scenario.......but charging order does matter if both devices have the batteries in a near 100% depletion state......if the engineers didn't plan for this, then you would have to take your iPhone out of the Mophie to get your iPhone to work....

Exactly .. and so it does not need to be removed, which answered the original query.

thanks guys, just made the order one more question if the iphone battery down to 10% then you need to turn the switch mode on from the pack air for it to be charge right, and can you use the phone while the pack air is charging the phone

Yeah, you can switch the battery case to start charging the iPhone whenever you want. Mophie recommends 10-20%, but you can do it at 50%, 75%, 33%...doesn't matter.

Also yes you can use the iPhone while it is charging from the case, but they recommend not to, as to get the best replenishment you can from the charging.

I'm loving this case. I'm finally done buying cases.

As of right now, I'm at 5 hours even of usage, and 1 day 19 hours of standby with 80% battery left and still 2 lights to use of the juice pack. I'm loving this case. :D

I've been charging it everytime it hits about 60% (don't know why, just wanted to test it) and let it get back up to about 85-90 before shutting off the pack. I've done that twice and went from full 4 lights currently to 2. But the battery also has to be losing charge from not being used, afterall I haven't charged the case for nearly 2 days now so some power is lost there, albeit probably very little.

Overall I'm totally satisfied and now I'll probably only have to charge my phone twice a week for my usage.

I just ordered mine this Friday! Looking forward to it, however my case (hipster) will no longer fit it :(

Wewt! I want a hipster, so much easier to carry rather than putting in pocket or carrying a purse.... sigh.

Positive experience with Mophie

For what it's worth, I've been using the new Mophie Juice Pak with the iPhone 4 while traveling for work, and it's really been quite useful. I didn't want to worry about the iPhone running out of power over long flights and I also didn't want to have to compete for power-outlets in airports or conference rooms. The Mophie Juice Pak also seems to be sturdy, well-made and I think that it looks reasonably nice (naturally, it does add some noticeable bulk to the iPhone).

I also wanted to take this opportunity to relate that I had a really positive experience with Mophie customer service. I pre-ordered the Juice Pak, as I knew I would want it for an upcoming work-trip. I inquired if I could pay for 2-day shipping to make sure it would get to me in time. Mophie customer service wrote back to me (I dealt with the same person in all my e-mail exchanges) and said that is should get to me in time (without 2-day shipping).

However due to an issue with UPS, it turned out it wouldn't reach me in time (it was on its way). After writing to Mophie, they sent me out a new Juice Pak with 1-day shipping so that it would definitely reach me in time (I did not ask for this, they offered to do it). They didn't charge me for the 1-day shipping and simply asked that I return the original Juice Pak when it did finally reach me. They really went above and beyond anything I could have hoped for and I think that says something positive about the company and those that work there.

Won't sync with case on

When I plug in the supplied USB cable to the case when the phone is in the case, I either get an error message that Itunes can't read my device and I should reinstall the OS, or it hangs during backup. The phone has no problems without the case. My phone is Jailbroken, so that might be the problem. Anybody else using the Mophie with a jailbroken phone?

I'm using it with my jailbroken iPhone 4. Syncing with iTunes works fine for me. Maybe you got a bad unit?

I had the same issue and I tried a different cable; works great.

Just great too...I have an extremely long cord to sit 2 inches away from my MacBook but the card I'll charge with is 3 inches long.

I have a 40 pin connector that plugs into the Iphone in the car. Anyone know if there is a mini usb 40 pin converter so I domt have to take it out of the case?

Don't know if they make those or not, but the connector on the juice pack air is micro usb, not mini usb.

Agreed on all points. Now, in one day, I have noticed that, just like the phone, the pak charges faster in an outlet than thru USB. I am going to do a few cycles using the pak first and then the phone's own battery. See how it lasts.

When both the phone and the JPA are 100% fully charged, the JPA circuitry will drain the phone's battery first, right? Is there a way for the JPA battery to be drained first while in use?

I asked a similar question early on in this thread. I would think that it would take more power (juice), to replenish(recharge) the phone's battery than to use the JPA's battery and then switch over to the phone.

Hope I made my self clear on that. Now this is from the user manual:

Charging your iPhone 4 using the juice pack air

If your iPhone is drained of power, the juice pack will first charge your iPhone. If your iPhone is fully charged, the juice pack will act as your primary battery and no power will be lost from the iPhone internal battery until the juice pack is depleted.

But then again, this is on the FAQ page:

What are the benefits of switching the juice pack air to stand-by mode?

Using the stand-by switch will give you even more total battery life, as the iPhone uses additional power to be on a constant charge.

Now does that mean, use the JPA first, because "the iPhone uses additional power to be on a constant charge" or the opposite.

I'm confused and I'll admit it.

It it heavy?

I know this is quite late but I just got mine today. I have very small hands and I do find the phone weight noticeably different. Also adds bulk, but in a way it does feel more secure in the hand. I am not sure how it will feel when I game for an hour or so... time will tell.

I do know that if I am going out for an evening on the town or something and I just want light weight I will just be putting it in my purse with only the screen protectors on.

For regular home or about use I will use it with the pack as it does have a nice feel to it!

Doesn't even feel like the slick lean phone anymore but it is much better protected for sure!

It appears that the JPA is used first, the full charging battery icon stays at 100% until the JPA shuts down. I just got 32 hours out of a fully charged JPA before it switched off and started using the iPhone battery.

The problem with this method is that it is bad for the phone battery because it would be "topped-up" constantly.
