Batteries are probably fried too. This is why i never use aftermarket accessories. Im still using my launch day magsafe duo never had 1 problem. OEM for life
If it's branded as a MagSafe charger, not coyly hinting at "works with MagSafe", the pucks are genuine Apple chargers. Zagg, Belkin et al are just sourcing the pucks from Apple and designing devices around them.

The Zagg/Mophie device sucks because the bit that manages charge from the USB power brick, and distributes it across the three surfaces is not up to the job. By contrast, I've had the Belkin nightstand since it was first released, and never had any issues with it.

But the Belkin nightstand doesn't fold up into a very nice compact little travel accessory. That was always the draw of the Mophie for my wife and I.

Yikes, while I don't use mine a tonne, I did notice once every so often it would fail to charge the iPhone. It's ideal for travel when you don't want to take a bunch of cables and bricks to keep your phone/airpods/watch charged at your bedside. *yes I know WHEN it works!* I got two of these via apple store - I'd prefer a gen 2 unit instead of a refund as I love travelling with mine.

Interesting - I picked up the Belkin 3-in-1 stand from Costco and there have been 2 times where my phone didn't charge and the only fix was to unplug it and plug it back in.

I guess these Made for iPhone things now need a bigger asterisk. It's a shame too, I alway thought Belkin things were actually pretty decent when it came to Apple peripherals.

I use a couple different high powered multi-port chargers, from Monoprice and from Anker. I have been able to charge an iPad Pro, a watch, an iPhone, and a set of headphones simultaneously. In the past month or so, maybe less, I hear one or more of those items ping as they come on and off charge, at different intervals, over the course of several hours. I wonder if this doesn't point toward an Apple update that messed with the charge sensitivity. I have also been getting a lot of notices that my iPhone is "too warm" to finish charging, but only when I'm in the car (its air conditioned, of course) using the built-in charger/AirPlay connection. That's new as well.

...Or is Apple starting to experiment with their predicted "Made for i" lockdown...???

I purchased mine directly from Zagg after seeing an Ad on this site. I have the problem and want a refund but Zagg has not so far provided a refund or a replacement.

I hope the update does fix the issue, because I have really loved this product. Extremely convenient to travel with.

Silly question probably, but did you need to bring it with you when you went in? Just asking because I could stop in on my way home...
Yes. I actually had to go home and get it as I didn’t bring it with me the first time.

Is anyone who is experiencing this problem on the iOS 17 beta? I am on the betas of the watch and phone, and my devices are charging fine on the 3-in-1 charger. I wonder if something got messed up in the 16.x release, but will resolve with 17?

I got one of these right when it came out and within a couple months the MagSafe part stopped working consistently. I replaced it under warranty (which Zagg made me pay for the shipping of, which I think is bogus). After a few months the MagSafe part stopped working properly yet again. Now that part is almost completely useless. Currently it is chiming on and off but most of the time it won't charge at all. I can charge my phone with the AirPods section but it has to be lined up just right. The watch part works ok. Makes it reeeeeeeally seem like a crappy cheap product, definitely not worth $150 with that kind of QC. I just decided today to try and fiddle with it again to see if I could get it working so it's weird timing that this article just came out! If they release a firmware update, how does one go about updating it?

Also, I recently got their snap+ juice pack mini and it does a very similar thing. It's supposedly MagSafe but it's super wiggly and doesn't line up properly like the apple one, and won't charge the phone unless I fiddle with it for a while. Probably won't be buying Zagg again.

What is the point of wireless travel chargers: a simple charging cable is smaller, faster, and cheaper.

When you have 3 devices to charge at the same time your hotelroom bedstand turns into spaghetti junction. One device to charge 3 others was brilliant. The regular 3-1 boost charge isn't suitable to travel with.

I’m having this problem. Started a few weeks back. I reached out to Zagg, they told to start a warranty replacement, paid for shipping and a few days later received the replacement…which has the same problem, obviously. I reached out again and they told me about the firmware update, whatever that means.

This was before they pulled out the product. But it’s been a pain dealing with them, especially because I’m outside the US, so I have to deal with international shipping fees to get the product and to return it.

Apple has been known to use software to, ahem, adjust charging capabilities (see the repeated issues with the Apple Watch charging). Given these are “Made for iPhone/Apple Watch,” devices, this is likely an issue on both Apple’s and Mophie’s ends - a software, ahem, adjustment and a hardware issue.

Oh hell, I'm one of the many who have been dealing with this issue - mophie/Zagg is unhelpful at best, saying a fix will eventually be made available, but in the meantime denies all replacement claims. Going back to the Apple Store for a refund yield the same sort of frustrating "you're on your own, sorry" response because I was out of the 15-day period during which refunds are issued.

For a CA$200 charger, I can say this is very disappointing on all sides.
Try again, or ask to speak with a manager (in the least Karen way possible). They are definitely returning these.

Moving away from this to a compact GaN charger and three short cables (watch/USB-C/Lightning) has greatly improved my travel life, even though there’s a little more to keep track of. When you’re on vacation or on the go all day, getting a fast-charge top-off in the hotel room between stops becomes that much more important, and these wireless solutions just aren’t good enough for that.
Glad to read this, those 3 are what I’ve gravitated to at home on my nightstand. And I keep overthinking how to simplify it further recently for a few days of upcoming travel, but it’s already about as improved as possible. I spent many years sticking with the Apple-brand-only cords and chargers but the Anker dual USB-C GaN I got recently is nice and compact, and fast charging — should have done it sooner.

That being said, I still avoid most off brands, besides the occasional Anker and Belkin.

First, I have heard of that. Where is that documented? If I go to the Apple store with my receipt and product, they will refund me?

Yes.

Mophie's 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe has been temporarily removed from the Apple online store due to ongoing charging issues. You also can no longer purchase the accessory directly from ZAGG's website.

mophie-charger-1.jpg

Beginning in late June, users in Apple's discussions community began pointing out an issue where an iPhone, Apple Watch, or AirPods placed on the charger would fail to get a consistent charge. The devices would constantly ping as they disconnected and reconnected to the charging source.

Many of the users in the thread on Apple's discussions community mentioned that they had owned the Travel Charger for over a year with no problems, and all began having the same issue around the same date. Apple has now recalled the accessory, so if you purchased it at an Apple Store or on Apple's website you can contact them for a full refund.

In a response on its website, ZAGG noted that it is aware of the issue with the Travel Charger, "which can cause intermittent charging with your device." The company said it has identified the issue and will release a firmware update to the accessory soon. It's unclear when the Travel Charger will return to the Apple Store and ZAGG store.

Mophie originally launched the Travel Charger in January 2022 at a price of $150. It's a MagSafe-compatible accessory that provides simultaneous charging to an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods. It includes a USB-C wall adapter and USB-C cable in the box.

(Thanks, James!)

Apple customer service doesn’t know a thing about this.

I always try to be as little Karen as possible, I try to put agents on my side and am not one to yell at people to get something no matter how infuriating "support" processes are nowadays.

EDIT: No dice, they're just tossing me from agent to the next, nobody appears to know anything about it in those I chatted with.

Don’t worry, Apple Support’s solution to everything is an RTA to Engineering!
